Yes lila luckily for me they're all on days I have off! (Amazingly) dh can't come though.

I have an amazing deal with my sisters re presents for grandparents and aunts etc. They give me money and I sort it all out Xmas Grin costs me time and wrapping but not much else.

Collieputthekettleon · 18/11/2015 13:28

I've missed a lot of the thread. It Has been spendy here for a few days so am going to write it off and start again. It can't be helped as we have guests.

The weather is stormy again today. It's ghastly :(

Anyway, NSD today and a NSD on Friday. Tomorrow will be quite costly. Lost track of all MN bargainous bargainy bargains though.

DS and I can't walk in the wind! Blush

Pointlessfan · 18/11/2015 13:30

I've never heard of Dunnes! I only really want cheapo wellies for DD to keep at nursery as I keep forgetting to take hers with me. TK Maxx didn't have any, neither did Toys R Us but while I was at the shops I remembered I needed tampons so stocked up on Boots ones.
I have 4 nieces to buy Xmas gifts for aged 5-9. I'm thinking of getting them each some Christmassy socks and hair clips/bands. Does that sound like a reasonable gift? I need to post one overseas.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/11/2015 13:34

Collie we can't walk in the wind either!

Dd loves socks, jewellery, hair bits anything from Claire's accessories I reckon

ipsos · 18/11/2015 13:43

Welcome back collie. Looking forward to hearing from you when it all quietens down.

pointless dunnes sell solid colour wellies for €6 which my currency converter tells me is £4.09 and character ones for €10 which is £6.82. They're probably a bit too heavy to post I'd pick up a pair otherwise!

My dd is 5, she loves getting hair things, socks/knicks with characters on them, little stationary sets for school are going down well too. I tend to buy a item of clothing for my friends children which are the closest I have to nieces/nephews. Or a toy in the 2 for €20 at argos.

Hi collie
spotty that's a great deal, I have similar deal with my bros & sis except I still have to pay my share!

Pointlessfan · 18/11/2015 14:14

That's exactly what I'm after lilac, will try Sainsburys.

ipsos · 18/11/2015 14:42

The dishwasher repair man came and tried to fix our dishwasher, but apparently it has had its chips totally. It has been written off and they are going to send us a brand new one under warranty. I'm ecstatic quite pleased about that.

The plasterer is bashing away in our hall and has already filled all the big holes. Yay!

I had lunch in the greenhouse. Smile

AdoraBell · 18/11/2015 15:06

Checking in, back from trip. Will try to update tomorrow.

Hope all frugaleers are well.

CremeEggThief · 18/11/2015 15:24

Welcome back, Adora.

Great result on the dishwasher, ipsos.

NSD. It's actually brightening up a little this afternoon, after an awful morning. Very much a porridge, soup and Macaroni cheese day!

Whatabout · 18/11/2015 15:49

Got £33 of toys in sainsbury on double up and 'spent' a further £20 on baking trays for my new oven.

Ememem84 · 18/11/2015 17:57

Hope everyone is doing ok.
Nsd here today. Yippee.

Tough day at work. Barely had time to eat lunch (but I managed it). Took a huge bag of DVDs to work with me today. Left them on the "food table" with a packet of biscuits. And told people to help themselves to both. A donation for the charity shop was requested. Have just taken the remainder to said charity shop with our cash money donation.

Feeling smug as have cleared out an entire sideboard of DVDs. And have done my charitable doings for the day.

Walk home. In the wind. But luckily no rain.

The weather here is atrocious. No ferry a are leaving. Planes aren't flying so we haven't had any post for a couple of days. There's talk of a humous shortage at m&s but I'm not sure how true the rumours are.... (A downside of island life - sometimes things just can't get to you)

Grown up breaded fish definetly not fish fingers and sweet potato chips for dinner tonight then am off to friends to babysit their so cute potato face daughter. She's 9 months. And has the most infectious laugh ever. Such a happy girly. After today's tough day I need a quiet evening with Peppa pig on tv

ipsos · 18/11/2015 18:17

Exciting! Which island do you live on em?

bunnie1975 · 18/11/2015 18:28

Hello,

Not been around for a fair few months and had planned to join in these posts, then totally forgot.
Huge need to be frugal right now after one of the horses got kicked last Wednesday resulting in a £400+ bill which arrived on Monday, there will be more sadly, and extra on the livery bill of around £600 for half of November and the whole of December, which needs to be paid December 1st, and the vet bill by next Wednesday. Totally rubbish timing since DH gets paid 21st this month and we planned to finish of the 3 DC Xmas this weekend. Bloody horses!

Pointlessfan · 18/11/2015 19:35

How long is this double up points thing on in Sainsbury's? I only found out about it this afternoon.

Girlfriend36 · 18/11/2015 19:51

Hello frugelleers Smile

Pointless the supermarkets do good wellies, ASDA and Sainsburys, I always get dds at Asda for £7 and always a size too big as well Wink

So think have managed a NSD, been manic though with work, home for about 5 mins and then out again to dds swim lesson. Have made a new mum friend to chat to at the lesson though so thats nice.

Dd came out of school with another letter about a residential, its a 3 day residential doing 'activities' no further information and they are asking £119 for it Shock I'm still struggling to pay for her London school trip which is going to be next summer (that's £200.) I think I will have to say no to this one Sad will ask the grandparents though as they may be happy to contribute..... When did primary aged kids start doing these expensive trips??

We got a day out at Butlins in my day apparently next year (year 6) they can go to Paris for a week Shock

babsmam · 18/11/2015 21:02

Pointless I think it's until the 23 or 25 nov

babsmam · 18/11/2015 21:04

It's the 24th pointless

lilacclery · 18/11/2015 21:12

Wow girlie they're expensive trips what age is she?

Maybe the grandparents could give it to her as a Christmas present?

Today has been a nsd but only home since 8.30pm putting ds to bed now, dd after that seriously tempted to phone in for takeaway. Hopefully it'll pass & I'll just find something quick in the kitchen. Already had eggs today though & chicken salad, Wheatfree is hard in times like this? Chips would be warm quick & wheatfree. Maybe I could do egg fried rice that wouldn't take too long...hmm
