£1 at Cornwall Ambulance shop for 3 books for dc after I dropped off my old slow cooker and some books and £1 at Prospect hospice for some wool and fabric
Just made cauliflower cheese with some bacon and cavolo nero for dh who had it for lunch and there is enough for his dinner too, the rest of us are having homemade burgers, buns and wedges

Leggings? Dd won't wear jeans either but will wear leggings. She won't wear anything 3/4 length either. I think hers is all sensory too but on a mild scale.

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/10/2015 16:15

Em It's the sheer lack of consideration that annoys me with noisy neighbours. I'd keep a diary for the council anyway.

My noisy neighbour moved because the police gave her a warning about her behaviour. It was really bad though.

ipsos Good for you, your little boy sounds adorable.

Need is the house too quiet now?. On the upside you can eat all the nice food.

NSD. Switching the heating on for 30m and off for 30m really seems to be paying off, we only used £4 to heat the house last week.

SpottyTeacakes · 26/10/2015 16:21

Fluffy you put me to shame. We apparently used £30 of electricity last week Blush I don't think it takes into account our two hours cheap in the afternoon though...

Girlfriend36 · 26/10/2015 16:23

Collie you inspired me to check out TU and George online, nothing in TU but found 2 pairs of jogging bottoms in George plus they had 20% off so got both pairs for £9.60! Will collect from store so no delivery fee either Halloween Smile just hoping they will be warm enough!

Fluffycloudland77 · 26/10/2015 16:31

That's the gas spotty, Leccy was £3.63.

Those storage rads will eat the electric though. When we had storage rads we didn't get any cheap rate for appliances, it only went to the rads. There was no good news with them.

I bet you used way more than £30 before the dw arrived though.

Girlfriend36 · 26/10/2015 16:37

Nope Spotty no to leggings as well, they are too tight apparently Hmm over the summer its not too bad as she likes harem style cotton trousers or cotton shorts.

It is a mission to find her clothes as the list of things she won't wear gets longer and longer, she is not the least bit girlie so dresses/skirts or anything 'pretty' or pink is out, won't wear tights as they are, well, tight, won't wear denim or cords as they are rough Confused

Am basically left with jogging bottoms preferably with soft cotton waist band and Boden velour trousers which are expensive so only bought when in the sale!

babsmam · 26/10/2015 16:37

Wolfcub it was lovely but very busy. The soupnic was fab as although the sun was out its chilly.
£20 for my half of the entry fee and £6.10 in the cafe.
That's it for today.
Not sure about tomorrow, see what the dc want to do.
Need I would love your garden leaves and all.

ipsos · 26/10/2015 16:57

Thanks Fluffy. :-) He did the dishwasher right enough this morning. Smile

My October goals have really gone out the window. Haloween Sad November will be hard work. It's a frugal month full of birthdays and DH will get a day less pay. He had to take unpaid day off :(

Glad you found something for your DD Girlie!

I shall join you in a "nofunvember" collie!

ipsos · 26/10/2015 17:51

We have to buy Christmas presents for extended family in November so that will cost a bit. I can't pick up bargains early in the year as they're all far away so I need to buy online and get them posted direct. On the plus side I've managed to be properly frugal this month I think. My grocery bill was down and I haven't bought anything very much outside that except a bit of school uniform for ds.

The Lords are discussing the tax credits just now. I hope they stamp on them.

ipsos · 26/10/2015 17:55

I mean I hope they stamp on the people who are trying to get rid of tax credits.

Wirril those trousers look good will get dd to try them on first though as they may fall into the 'leggings' category!

fingers crossed re tax credits!

Collieputthekettleon · 26/10/2015 19:10

Yes please badders I need hand holding. We also have people staying with us for 5 days. My meal plan will be:

Tuna mixed bean salad with jacket potatoes
Beef stew
Takeaway for one night only
Hearty Winter salad (homemade quiche, cheeses, sweet potato wedges, rocket etc)
Roast chicken traybakes with stuffing etc

So hopefully that'll work. I'm nervous. Guests make me nervous. Blush

The only thing that went well in October was the fact that my Nectar balance is now £30. My goal was to reach £20. This is from doing surveys, fuel & using mycoupons.

Collieputthekettleon · 26/10/2015 19:31

I just want to say that I love the casual chit chat on this thread (as well as the frugal tips and discussions!) and I love this friendly corner of mumsnet GrinFlowersBrew

SpottyTeacakes · 26/10/2015 19:34

Haha have you been reading the bargains thread collie?! Blush

LaChatte · 26/10/2015 19:38

I'm about to place a big food shop order for Wednesday. I'm trying to think if I've forgotten anything. I want to spend the whole day on Thursday batch cooking and freezing everything so we pretty much don't have to cook after work ever again until the next holidays (28 meals).

I'm making...

Oven ready (for 4 people):
3 lasagnas
3 chilis
3 tex-mex
3 shepherd's pies

Slow cooker dumps (for 4 people):
2 beef stew
2 chicken korma
2 orange and star anis pork
2 cider and sage pork
2 hot pots
2 meatballs
2 rancheros pies

Soups (all individual portions):
6 cauliflower & stilton
6 lentil & chorizo
6 split pea
6 roasted tomato and pepper
6 spiced parsnip
6 "clear"
6 Thai
6 chorizo & chickpea
6 sweet potato & lentil
6 broccoli & cheese

Online shop has come to 180€ (including a few other bits such as loo roll, DH's ration of Coke zero, Weetabit and oats etc.). I'll be stretching the meat out and bulking things up quite a bit with lentils and veg, and we'll have to buy a coulple of hings as we go, but I'm quite pleased so far.

babsmam · 26/10/2015 19:50

Wow lachatte I'm impressed I wish I could be that efficient.

Collie and spotty Halloween Grin

Ememem84 · 26/10/2015 19:54

Me too collie. There's so much support here. It's rather lovely.

needastrongone · 26/10/2015 20:08

Wow lachatte, that is industrious! What is rancheros pie?

Don't be nervous collie, try to enjoy!

ipsos Thanks for the further link. Love your knowledge of IT and your kindness to share.

girlie Yep leaves do decompose but very slowly and they rot the grass underneath. DH is extremely anal about his beloved grass.

We got the garden as there's not access so the builders couldn't do much else to tag it on as a selling point i.e large plot. I agree I absolutely love it, just not these coming few weeks!

Spinach, coconut and chilli soup for tea, yum Smile

ipsos · 26/10/2015 20:11

Wirral it was reported in the FT the other day and the Liberal Democrats just sent round a petition.

I'm right with you collie on guests. Smile. I love the friendly chat here too, and the fact that we can just be ourselves and that that's okay.

I managed not to spend any money today, in spite of putting two silly bids on an ebay item. The trick, it seems, is to make sure they are low enough to be outbid. That way I get the fun without the expenditure.

LaChatte · 26/10/2015 20:15

It's a minced beef dish, with spices, tomatoes and sultanas, topped with sweet potatoes. I've never made it before, but it ticked all the boxes!
