Welcome diet.
£33 on hair cut
£115 in sainsbury but that is party x2 stuff.
£18 on school photos
Could do with a mooch to the coop and butchers for meat.
Lots more Christmas presents from the Christmas thread have arrived so pleased with that.
Bag of stuff x2 to the charity, hate clutter and we have too much of it.

Nice one about the holiday fuzz. You do deserve it.

fuzzpig · 09/10/2015 13:39

Aw, thank you very much Pink Blush it was a combination of booking early and an extra £15 saved by it being an offer via our Family Railcard. Forgot they have related offers so will be more proactive looking in future.

fuzzpig · 09/10/2015 13:40

And babs thank you too :)

ipsos · 09/10/2015 14:10

What and DCC we're in the same boat. Dh had a good salary but it's costing me about £1950 a month to pay all the bills, grocery, pension contributions and everything else. I'm gradually finding small savings in the food budget and now I have an electricity and gas monitor to have fun with .
This picture shows what the monitor shows me.
The bumps in the gas graph are mostly the gas hob (except the first one) and the bumps in the electricity graph are the washing machine and then the cooker. The big spike is the rapid heat setting on the oven which just runs for 5 minutes to get it up to temperature.

This is my gas and electricity graph for yesterday. All the gas bumps are small, and are mostly the hob. The electricity bumps are all washing machine, tumble dryer or oven. The big spike in the oven electricity was when I turned on the pyrolytic cleaning function, thought "argh!" and turned it off again. I haven't dared to run the pyrolytic cleaner for a full 90 minutes to see what that looks like. Probably still costs less than a packet of oven cleaner.

ipsos I remember posts on here a while ago about the monitors but can't remember when to search back, where is it from and how much was it? And how does it attach to stuff to measure? I'm really interested in seeing what we are using where.

Collieputthekettleon · 09/10/2015 16:23

Hello all! I am super impressed. I basically bought the ale and treats up with us. A car full of yummy treats and ingredients for posh slow cooked meals. My in laws took us out for a meal as well but all of the "days out" have been free. It was a long long long drive and we left at 2am! But all is well and we are enjoying our time away.

I've been looking at jobs and houses. It would make sense for us to move but it would be a mighty task. Blush it scares me.

We're in Perthshire at the mo.

Collieputthekettleon · 09/10/2015 16:25

We have saved up various funds for days out too. Such as "Scottish ale fund" and "castle fund" Grin frugal planning!

We'll probably spend some this weekend

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2015 16:36

Nsd. Hoping for a really cheap shop at lidl tomorrow should be able to do it...

CremeEggThief · 09/10/2015 17:36

£1.46 on posting off a job application. I'm not getting much supply teaching lately,so I am applying for the very few part-time teaching jobs and even a few full-time T.A. jobs that are coming up. I don't think I can work as a full-time teacher at present, with my cfs and anxiety issues and the fact there's nobody else around for DS in the evenings and every other weekend (his dad moved away). Just feeling a bit fed up and meh about it all today.

Struggling to keep up with you all this week. Almost managed NSD but had to pay £2.75 to park at the hospital.
Got a credit card statement that said I'm £53 in credit, I'm not sure how that happened, need to look into it. Also got a letter from my physio reminding me I didn't pay last time so that's £39 but if I use my cc I'm still £14 up!
Am going to freeze a bit of leftover cheese sauce - will that work?
Have a good weekend all!

AdoraBell · 09/10/2015 18:05

NSD

for any Sainbo's shoppers among us, while browsing last night I found free food on the websiteGrin it's under Evenst and Inspiration.

So next week I will had 2 avocados, a packet of Heinz cuppa soup and Philidephia's new whipped cheese, free Grin

Lovetoknit · 09/10/2015 18:11

Thank you creme the lentils worked well and now I have an extra meal in the freezer.
Enjoy your holiday collie Scotland is on my bucket list of places to visit Smile
Welcome diet
Dh came home after his morning shift and suggested a trip to Trago without dc so my planned NSD day has turned into £50 at Trago, £60 for meat from butchers at Trago and £4.10 for 2 pasties for lunch. All the meat has been divided and put in the chest freezer in dh workshop so I even made a list to put on the fridge.
Tonight it's fish fingers, chips and peas for dc and liver, mash and veg for grownups (85p for liver for 2 - I guess we should try to have it more often)
Hope dc can write their Christmas list this weekend so I can finally start looking for bargains Grin

Pointlessfan · 09/10/2015 18:23

Any idea where I can get some cheap, machine washable throws for the sofa? Between DD's sticky toddler hands and the cat shedding fur left, right and centre it's getting ruined.

Lovetoknit · 09/10/2015 19:25

We got ours from Dunelm Mill couple years ago and they still look good.

Girlfriend36 · 09/10/2015 20:03

Was going to say Dun Elm as well! I think they are brilliant for throws and blankets, me and dd have both got Dun Elm thick fleecy blankets on our beds and we love them!

Have managed another LSD 94p on milk and 54p sweets for sweetie Friday.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/10/2015 20:07

Nsd.

Welcome diet.

Pointlessfan · 09/10/2015 20:12

Dunelm - can't believe I didn't think of that! DH almost killed someone (accidentally) last time we went there and won't go back out of embarrassment so it's not on my radar at the moment.

babsmam · 09/10/2015 20:29

Ah sorry you feel like that creme egg. A full time post may negotiate on hours though. Nowt to lose.

£4 on beavers

Whatabout · 09/10/2015 20:42

Today has been really stupid spendy. Take away breakfast, £8, socks for DS1 £8.30 (12 pairs in primark), two outfits for Gabe to throw up on £12 (25% off one in h&m), £28 takeaway dinner. It's been a long week and we haven't spent any money on takeaways so not awful. Oh and £11 on dry cleaning and £10 on formula. So much spending!

IKEA is my go to for bankers and throws. Very cheap and wash well and a good choice of couloirs and styles.

Ememem84 · 09/10/2015 20:47

adora yes thankfully nice easy day today.

Dh however.... Is asleep on the couch. He felt like death all day apparently. Serves him right.

£18 in waitrose on wine pizza garlic bread crisps and humous.

CremeEggThief · 09/10/2015 20:53

Thanks Babs, but I don't think I am fit to teach full-time. I could just about manage full-time as a T.A. and that's only because I am very strict about doing nothing on weekday evenings (make a simple dinner, packed lunch, wash up and wipe down kitchen surfaces and that's it).

Primark and the supermarkets are all worth a look for throws and cushions too.

CremeEggThief · 09/10/2015 20:56

DS treated us to a takeaway, out of his birthday money, so that's cheered me up a lot. 2 12 inch pizzas, a bag of chips and a can of pop for him all for £10!

Who said it's grim up north?Smile

OP posts:
Orangeisthenewbanana · 09/10/2015 22:06

Little bit spendy today. £10 top up shop for bread, milk, fruit and veg, plus a Sarah and Duck magazine for DD. £5 on drink and a cake catching up with some NCT friends after a park trip to make the most of this lovely weather. Homemade curry for tea.

Enjoy your takeaway creme and fingers crossed for that job.

Pointless what on earth did your DH do in Dunelm??

fuzzpig · 09/10/2015 22:08

Oh hell, I got really cross with DD earlier. She asked if we could have a takeaway and I said no as we didn't have the money spare. That's the standard response when we aren't having one (we do have maybe once or twice a month so not deprived at all!) and she was grumpy and mumbled 'well get a job then' WTAF! Shock I have no idea where that came from - well I guess because of DH trying to find another job, really. I know she was being flippant and didn't really understand what she was saying but I was really cross with her as it struck a nerve due to the fact I'm probably going to lose mine - which obviously she still doesn't know. I didn't shout but she certainly knew she had really upset me. She cried. Oops :(

Creme I think you're amazing even looking at jobs in education when you have CFS! It must be very physically and mentally demanding. (Ironically a lot of people keep thinking it must be like that trying to home ed my DCs when I'm ill - but it really isn't anything like having to manage a class of 30! I could never do that, whereas HE happens mostly on the sofa if I'm ill.) It must be really hard finding part time jobs though, so I hope you can find something that has the right balance between money and rest time. :)
