Oops. I've been playing with topcashback. And to see if it worked I've ordered a pair of boots from Clarks. I'll get s grand total of. £0.34p.

fuzzpig · 08/10/2015 22:32

I just joined TCB as well, following a link which was supposed to give me 500 clubcard points. Don't think it worked though! :(

fuzzpig · 08/10/2015 23:49

Not caught up with thread yet.

Further spends today:
£103.50 holiday
£8ish snack and drink while I waited for DCs to do their St Johns club (I was going to Waitrose as planned but Wetherspoons got in the way! :o Bigger glass of Pepsi and softer light for reading, you see...)

Unrelated to the thread but this might make you laugh. I'm hooked on Dr Foster - been watching on iplayer but with subtitles on so I can keep the volume down. The bit in episode 2 where Simon gets home from the party drunk and heads to the bathroom. Here are the subtitles:

SIMON URINATES

...

URINE SPLASHES ON FLOOR

...

...

HE CONTINUES TO URINATE

The way it was written made me laugh anyway :o

SpottyTeacakes · 09/10/2015 06:34

Should be nsd dh used all the butter on his toast last night so there's not enough for breakfast ffs it's not like he hadn't had dinner Angry

Going to lidl in the morning though so will have to wait until then..

Pointlessfan · 09/10/2015 06:56

Fuzz Grin I like watching football with the subtitles, it goes so fast and the commentators say so much rubbish anyway that the subtitling can be very funny!
Went out last night and spent just £5.20, pleased with that. Off to the hospital this morning, unless I have a long wait and buy a coffee there it should be NSD.

babsmam · 09/10/2015 06:59

Thanks bingdog

Spendy day today, food shopping for dd birthday party, vets bill.
Time to hit the savinfd

Ememem84 · 09/10/2015 07:04

With TCB I learned last night that if I register for all online shopping initially with a new email address I'll get more cash back.

I had a play and ordered a skirt from next. £2.50 back now. I did need the skirt. It's plain. Black. Pencil skirt for work. My old one has seen better days but I was thinking about seeing if it would last until the new year.

Ememem84 · 09/10/2015 07:06

Totally exhausted today. Dh went out last night. Rocked in at 4. Woke me up. Then snored loudly and did beer farts. Ick.

He's still asleep. I've dragged myself out of bed and am having a cup of tea before I shower. We've both got work today. Luckily he'll suffer more than me....!!!

Binglet · 09/10/2015 07:08

Orange I'm NHS but no idea if they've changed my tax code. I'm a bit useless. Might have to check that one. Every little helps. I claimed back 4 years in one big chunk last year I think it was. Will check again anyway as I my membership has increased to next level since I did it.

Fluffycloudland77 · 09/10/2015 07:59

NSD yesterday.

Unescorted That poor girl, I hope he gets sentenced. You were very brave, I bet loads walked past and did nothing.

Fuzz Query it with tcb, 500 cc points is not to be sniffed at.

Adora It just gets worse, Chile sounds a very unfair country, financially. The property market would grind to a halt here if they all did that.

I made laundry gloop, washed my difficult to wash bedding in it and it came out cleaner than using liquid gentle wash from Tesco. I bought black 400tc Sheridan sheets from just linen.co.uk and everything else has left a residue on them.

AdoraBell · 09/10/2015 08:04

Well done unescorted

Also tired Today Due To bleeding nocturnal teenagersHmm Hope you have an easy day at work Em

Not sure if it will be an NSD, will update later.

AdoraBell · 09/10/2015 08:16

Yes Fluffy it is a very short sighted society, financially speaking.

lilacclery · 09/10/2015 08:30

I'm thinking of making laundry gloop but fairy non bio really agrees with everyones skin & don't want to make a batch and have it go to waste either.

Last night I bought two pairs of winter boots from aliexpress for €18.74, having two pairs of sturdier boots should mean I'll get a few winters out of them. This morning I bought a twinset, a long sleeved hoodie, short sleeved hoodie and another pretty top. These combined with the skinnies I bought in penneys last week and a couple of bargains on iclothing in last few months should keep me clothed for a good bit of the winter. This mornings things cost €19.80. These are bargains as the total of what I bought last night and today in Ireland would cost over €100.

Also filled my car with diesel €47 and got a 3 pack of malteser teaser bars for myself and my colleagues for a Fri evening treat.

lilacclery · 09/10/2015 08:31

fuzz we deserve holidays too and that was a bargain!

ipsos · 09/10/2015 08:38

That's great that you're enjoying it collie. It's so much cheaper there. If you think you could enjoy it then I think a move could be well worth your while. You'd fit right in too with your knack for thrift. Smile

fuzzpig · 09/10/2015 08:54

Thank you lilac :) very excited. There are a couple of places near it that will be great home ed trips too :o

ifonly4 · 09/10/2015 09:54

Positive - aim is to spend a max of £50 on food/cat food this week and I think I can do it. So far spent £16, with main shop to do tomorrow. Have a Sainsburys voucher, spend £40 and get £8 off so will be counting tomorrow as I go along to keep to just over £40!!

Inset day here yesterday. DD wanted to go to town which cost £6.40 bus fares, £6.15 M&S café, £23 Gap cardigan (reduced) and £17 dress for DD. Resisted a £45 black cardi I also liked in Gap, but think I'll be going back next time to see if it's been reduced (they often have reductions!).

Girlfriend36 · 09/10/2015 11:02

Hi all Smile

Fuzz that sounds like a bargain holiday am Envy at being able to take kids out of term times, I think its so wrong how much prices get hiked up for the school holidays.

Ifonly what are your cats eating? I don't spend that on them in a month Grin poor cats!

Lila that sounds like a bargain for winter boots will have to have a look at that website! Dd needs some boots, she is short on foot wear at the moment as her canvass high tops are wrecked as she has worn them non stop so only has school shoes and trainers. Was planning on getting a nice pair of boots to last the winter.

I think my tax code has been changed to include nmc reg and washing uniform etc, how would I check?

One of my amazon purchases from this week has just arrived and looks good, a 500 piece puzzle which is Christmas gift for my mum was £7.99 so not too bad.

Got my friend coming over for coffee soon, quiet day planned and should be a lsd, need to pick up milk but thats it.

Dd went into school dressed as a Roman Emperor today, think we did quite well as home made Roman shield and leaf wreath thing for her head plus a cape that was intended for halloween Grin total spend £0!

Girlfriend36 · 09/10/2015 11:04

Ifonly just read your post back and realised you mean total spend for food and cat food - sorry durr!

ipsos · 09/10/2015 11:36

My attempts at selling things on ebay never seem to get me much of a price. Oddly I always get brilliant bargains on ebay, but selling always seems a bit fruitless. My 8-sided nice wooden playpen is about to go for £10.50 and a stairgate for only £4. Oh well.

fuzzpig · 09/10/2015 11:37

Great frugal costume-making, Girl! I need to follow your lead as we have a museum day next month about Ancient Egypt, and dressing up is encouraged hopefully just for the children though - will ask mum if I can borrow some eyeliner too as I don't use makeup anymore (far too lazy)

I totally agree about the price hikes in school holidays. The difference is utterly ridiculous. Lots of people round here tend to go in term time and take the £60 charges from the school, as it's still vastly less than the money saved, especially if they're going abroad as the flights are much cheaper too I hear.

I haven't been abroad since before my eldest started school, but I think maybe in 2017 we might aim for a holiday - my parents belong to a holiday resort club so we'd have more to spare for the flights. Thinking Malta as it's small and therefore less of a problem without a car.

Dietcherrycola · 09/10/2015 11:43

Hello, newbie here. I've just started a thread about how to stop spending and had some very good mumsnet advice. They also recommended I join this thread. It's lovely!
I like the idea of a nsd, I'm not sure if I've ever had one!

Whatabout · 09/10/2015 12:15

Hi DCC and welcome. I read your thread and in some ways we are in a similar boat. Between me and DH we earn six figures but we were finding we had very little at the end of The month.

One of the things that stood ouT to me was your food spending, do you meal plan? I do all my food shopping online at sainsvury and then buy coffee and drinks once a month at Costco on top. I spend a maximum of £50 a week including formula for the baby. Nappies I buy on subscription from Amazon. Takeaways were our major downfall too, we have a small budget for this and when it is gone iTo done.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 09/10/2015 12:38

Welcome DCC

Just to come back to the tax code question, I got another letter from HMRC today, telling me they have changed my code for this year based on my membership fees so I get a certain amount of pay tax free now to offset them. Will just have to remember to check the code again in April! There was a phone number on the letter for queries:

0300 200 3300 - comes under Pay as You Earn scheme. Will definitely look into claiming laundry too now!

TheOnlyPink · 09/10/2015 13:01

fuzz what a bargain for your holiday! You would have been mad not to book, and tbh you bloody deserve a break. Being so ill, work issues and home ed on top of everything. Hope you have a bloody brilliant time.

diet huge welcome, the posters here have done wonders for my finances. Stick around!

girl sounds like a fab costume!

lilac hope the bargains don't take too long getting here! Love aliexpress, got a few bits for the kids for Christmas, total about a fiver. Can I ask why they don't recommend using gluten free products unless you have coeliac? Not being smart, genuinely curious!

Spent €3 on milk and baby wipes this morning. Will be a nsd for the rest of the weekend I hope!
