What a beautiful day! I'm especially enjoying the autumn this year. Went into town this morning to get birthday and anniversary cards for mum and DH respectively and finally got DD some new shoes. Clarks have a lot of children's shoes half price currently so I got some for now and some in the next size up.
Also went in The Works and got a big sheet of black paper and some pva glue. When DD wakes up from her nap we're going out to collect autumn leaves to make a collage. Have just put shepherds pie filling in slow cooker so just need to make mash later, and used half a butternut squash to make soup for lunches for the rest of the week. Got a massive squash in Asda for 75p and I reckon I'll get 4-5 helpings of soup and 3 helpings of either curry or risotto out of it.
ipsos are your graphs from one of those electricity monitor things? I would like to get one as a visual aid for DH who never turns a light off but I don't really understand how they work. Are they hard to set up?

SpottyTeacakes · 14/10/2015 13:16

Ipsos I got one of those loop monitors but it's not working Sad

Lovetoknit · 14/10/2015 13:40

Great news girlie
collie I need phone and internet for my work so we have Sky, I know it's silly but I do miss Virgin which we had back in Wiltshire for nearly same money. My mobile phone is with EE and coverage is usually rubbish.
Pasta and meatballs for dinner tonight with homemade garlic bread which is dc favourite dinner Smile

It's working! My heaters just clicked on and it's gone up to £1.03 an hour! I don't suppose it takes into account that I get two hours off peak

Electrolux - sounds like it's (somehow) worth checking the meter - they may have just estimated the amount used rather than a taken a proper reading. If not clear on the bill if it's estimated, they should be able to tell you over the phone at least.

Well I cycled to Lidls for milk and peppers (knowing they'd be cheaper than Tescos), and came out with kidney beans and cereal as well, so spent £3.60 instead of £1.84 there - at least it's all stuff we'll use. The kidney beans can go in a chilli pasta concogtion I make - might help warm us up here.

Pointless, is it sunny where you are? We've had about 10 mins sun, but it cloudly and breezy in our part of Glos.

Collieputthekettleon · 14/10/2015 15:01

Ooooh we want one of those loop thingies too. Thanks to Ipsos and her zaney graphs.

We have internet again! It's wonderful. Grin the BT engineer was SO good. I feel like I ought to tell Openreach how good he was as the gooduns are rare.

Just went into town for the afternoon and spent nothing apart from £2 on the bus. I'm feeling very pleased considering I picked up various knitted garments, nail polishes & books ready to buy. I put it all back! I also took my second pair of Next Jeggings back and have a full refund.

Love Autumn too! It's beautiful this year. Crunchy leaves everywhere and squirrels! Can't wait for the smell of chimney smoke in the evening. Smile

Collieputthekettleon · 14/10/2015 15:03

Nectar double up is starting 18th November Grin

blueteapot · 14/10/2015 15:05

Aw no I'm too late pointless I was coming to post that the clarks website has the 50% off and there's a 20% off code on HUKD which stacks, may benefit some of the rest of you then maybe - I'm going to have a look for a few things for DS

ipsos · 14/10/2015 15:19

pointless yes it's a loop monitor, both gas an electricity. www.your-loop.com/ £70

Spotty I found it really easy. Maybe you could call them?

bbcessex · 14/10/2015 15:38

Hi there ipsos - and everyone, I'm de-lurking to ask you about your monitor... looks very very interesting; can you tell me more about it and how it's fitted?

needastrongone · 14/10/2015 15:50

if Thanks, yes DD is totally fine. She recovered so quickly. She wouldn't tell me anyway for fear of me telling her she can't ride.

audit It's me with the large house and cheap insurance! I pay £38 pm for unlimited buildings and contents, it's AXA via Marks and Spencers. I will be reviewing the market though, as it fall due for renewal in November. Caveats may be that it's new (4 years old) and not in an area known for flooding but I am not sure how they assess these things. I think our village would be classed as a low crime area too, judging on the monthly crime report published by the Parish Council!

Spent a £10 today in Aldi on milk and a few bits and bobs, plus I got £50 cashback. Of which, £10 will go to the window cleaner and £20 for some candles I have bought from my friend, the last of her stock from a now defunct business.

Salmon tray bake for tea, ages since we have had fish.

I am now off work until Monday and not away at the weekend, I have no idea what I will do with myself!!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/10/2015 15:56

It was really easy to fit it's just because my meter is in an awkward place I had it clipped on the wrong wire Hmm there's a YouTube video too. I'll cancel after the free trial probs

CremeEggThief · 14/10/2015 16:27

NSD. Still feeling rubbish, so I have put the gas central heating on for the first time. It's a lovely day here too, but very chilly.

bobblypop · 14/10/2015 16:48

electrolux they an read the meters remotely - at least they can with ours - without actually opening them. I spent many happy hours gazing at mine last year when they tried to tell me my bill had suddenly increased by 100% ! make sure everything in house is switched off (taps, washing machine etc) and go and see if it's moving. If it is there is something wrong! There is then a way to tell whether possible leak is inside property or in external pipework but cant quite recall what I did Hmm

bobblypop · 14/10/2015 16:49

can not an

Girlfriend36 · 14/10/2015 16:50

bbc it's very easy to fit. This is the video.

It took me about five minutes. You need a free socket next to a free ethernet port on your router. The gas box has to be less than 30 feet away. That's all.

Electrolux I posted some graphs from my loop energy monitor yesterday.
