Our internet is down. BT said we won't have it for a week! And £9 has been spent on extra data allowance :(

SpottyTeacakes · 14/10/2015 07:08

That's rubbish collie! We don't get 3G here so if our internet goes we have no way of getting online!

Should be nsd. I'm going to ring up and cancel sky. I will be strong. Unless they offer it to me for £10 month or less I will say no.

ipsos · 14/10/2015 08:19

collie There was a big article the other week about how David Cameron had his holiday in Cornwall and found that he couldn't get in touch with other world leaders on his phone because connectivity was so rubbish there. He started a big campaign when he got back to London to sort out connectivity in the regions. So he's on the case, personally.

Google for FT: "Drive to end mobile ‘not spots’ falls short of expectations"

It turns out that I wasn't paying zero for electricity over night. My monitor had just given up. It's working again now.

blueteapot · 14/10/2015 08:19

Audit was it me? we are a 5 bed house (well, 3 bed bungalow with attic converted to 2 more bedrooms) and are paying £23 a month B&C with co-op insurance? Was 16 a month last year but has gone up a bit this year (still cheapest)

HairsprayQueen · 14/10/2015 09:06

I'm so far behind I can't catch up in a written way but I do read all the posts and think of you all! My kids are being very annoying, taking it in turns so i have one being super good and the other being absolutely horrid, it's such a time zapper watching time outs etc! Along with studying and house stuff the days are zooming by.

Which is good as it's just 2 days until payday, I've had to take a smidge from savings but that was because we didn't know DS would need grading fees. Nothing has gone on the credit card though. Still a way to go but progress!

I am thinking about asking DH for a carpet cleaner and saucepans for birthday/Christmas. I don't want to be some martyry mum type who gets dull gifts but I don't really need much else and they would make a difference to life for longer than a lot of things he might otherwise get me. Is that a silly idea? Will I regret it on Christmas morning?!

blueteapot · 14/10/2015 09:12

I love my carpet cleaner! I like getting housey gifts as they make me much happier than things like toiletries sets which I know will go to waste lol

SpottyTeacakes · 14/10/2015 09:20

I'm on the phone to sky lets see what they offer me gah

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2015 09:27

Good luck spotty.

I quite like house stuff if it makes life better hairspray. I forwent a holiday this year so I could buy a dishwasher. It means I dont get the rage when I empty it and stuff was still dirty Angry

SpottyTeacakes · 14/10/2015 09:31

They've got it down to £16 a month for the same package we have so I'm keeping it. It's £14 a month cheaper so much better and I was willing to stay for a good reduction.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2015 09:34

Brilliant reduction. £160 saved for a phonecall Star

SpottyTeacakes · 14/10/2015 09:41

I got that wrong, it's down to £14/month Smile for ten months. Much better.

Collieputthekettleon · 14/10/2015 10:04

Could only reduce car insurance by £2 a month. F sakes!!

Ipsos we definitely have communication probs here. Yesterday I had no internet, no phone signal in the afternoon & no tv signal. And yet there were no "reported problems". My neighbours & I were going bananas. Today our phone signal is fine, tv signal is having blips & no broadband at all.

I pay a grand total of £60 per month to have communication with the outside world via Internet, mobile & TV.

ifonly4 · 14/10/2015 10:19

Needa - good news from the Consultant. Is your DD feeling totally better in herself?

Electrolux - Don't want to worry you, but I'd look at my water meter to see if it's moving without any water usage - your water bill is more than double anyone else I know - £180-450 around here.

North - had a chuckle about putting your heating on for your Mum - my MIL always sits here saying "it's cold today" and touching our radiator - she has hers set to 25c and there's no way we're going to match that.

Need to buy peppers and milk, debating if I can be bothered to walk further and get them from Lidl which will save me 15p.

ipsos · 14/10/2015 10:23

Well done fluffy.

Collie That must really be very annoying. I hope they manage to sort it out. Nice to know that people in high places are on the case at least.

I'm having a spendy sort of week, but I am spending money on setting up a notebook so I can start a bit of voluntary work. I'm looking forward to having a bit of company, so I think it's well worth it. I'm keeping notes on everything I spend which makes it less alarming somehow.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2015 10:53

I've just recovered dh's nectar account and ordered a new card for him and it's got £10 worth of points on it! I was going to order a new one for him but had a feeling he must have had one at some point.

ipsos · 14/10/2015 10:54

Great fluffy. I recently rediscovered my very old Boots card and it has £20 on it, so that was a bit of a bonus. I've started taking it with me to Boots again.

fuzzpig · 14/10/2015 10:56

I must see where our Boots card is too.

I just spent nearly £23 in Coop on seemingly not much. AND I forgot the bag for life I meant to take with me.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2015 10:57

Have you got the boots app? you get bonus points on it. I think you can use them on presents when boots do their 3 for 2 as well.

Yes, a cubic metre is 1000 litres afaik.

Grass cuts really easily, cut it open and use a screwdriver to lever the lid off. You might need a torch.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/10/2015 11:25

Or they've read another persons meter.

ipsos · 14/10/2015 12:00

I like your style fluffy. :-)

ipsos · 14/10/2015 12:02

girlie have you tried taking your dd off wheat and dairy for a few days? That helps ENT trouble with some children.
