fuzz that's terrible that they didn't inform him. Good on him for leaving them a message though.

Thanks for all our anxious feeling frugaleers. I don't suffer, but DM does and I know how debilitating it can be.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/09/2015 13:56

So I can cancel sky from mid November and have to give a months notice so I'm going to call them in two weeks to cancel then I'm going to get now TV! Dh isn't convinced and dd isn't either but I think it'll be worth it for the £240 a year saving

Binglet · 28/09/2015 14:04

spotty might be worth telling them you plan on leaving. I got rid of box sets as DP has Netflix and then told them I was leaving them and they dropped our bill from £70 to around £40/month.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/09/2015 14:06

We only pay £28 a month we don't really have much to get rid of, nothing that would make it more worth while than Now TV anyway Smile

HairsprayQueen · 28/09/2015 14:14

I've now gone back a page and read the posts about Now TV, I must have read it, planted the seed in my mind and then completely forgotten where I got the idea from!

I'm so sorry for repeating!

Just to clarify (I'm not always thick, I'm just so tired at the moment!) if I get sky to decode the card to get the free channels, will I be able to record on the box still?

SpottyTeacakes · 28/09/2015 14:24

As I understand it you'll lose the ability to pause, rewind, ff and record unless you pay them a subscription for doing so. If we really miss that function we will get a freeview + box.

TheOnlyPink · 28/09/2015 15:10

I cancelled sky in June, did without it for July and half of August. They phoned dh and offered free sky until January, then €19 a month until August.
Tbh I did miss the ability to record, but it wasn't a huge loss. We have Netflix, and the kids barely noticed sky was gone.

needastrongone · 28/09/2015 15:34

spotty I would have risked the chicken Smile

fuzz Your poor DH, fingers crossed that he gets another chance.

collie I am sorry that you are feeling anxious. I can suffer too, I sympathise.

Spends today are and will be £6.90 on a bag of chicken feed.

Collieputthekettleon · 28/09/2015 15:45

Thanks everyone! Feeling a bit brighter now. I definitely need to speak to the doctor as it is beginning to affect my life a lot. Admitting that it's actually a problem has helped too as I used to deny it. Grin

fuzzpig · 28/09/2015 15:46

Thanks :)

He hasn't heard back from that company yet, but this afternoon he has also been called for an interview for another company on Thursday. So hopefully at least one will go his way! :) We're lucky he has a job already so this isn't absolutely necessary - in fact this is the first time he's ever looked for a new job while already having one! But he's so desperate to jump ship as his current job is horrible.

How are you finding the Sertraline? I am on 50mg at the moment and often forget to take it. Horrible side effects at first, felt really spaced, but getting on fairly well with it now. Apart from the one time I took it really early before eating, when I ended up with horrific heartburn, shudder.

fuzzpig · 28/09/2015 15:49

Oh and I wouldn't have risked the chicken. But then I'm ridiculously paranoid about food going off. Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 28/09/2015 15:50

I'm rinsing it ok. I have a pill compartment box as I take seven a day Blush I'm only three weeks into it though, I'm still getting anxiety attacks and my heart goes despite the propanolol I'm taking.

Fingers crossed your dh gets a new job soon Smile

I've just been torturing myself looking at Lapland holidays!

SpottyTeacakes · 28/09/2015 16:05

Rinising?! That should say finding Xmas Grin

Collieputthekettleon · 28/09/2015 16:07

Oh I just bought £25 Next Denim Leggings. will probs send them back though. What was I thinking? Even those my eBay money can pay for them. Gives self a slap Blush

ipsos · 28/09/2015 16:52

Good idea to see someone collie. If they are not helpful try a different person. I had to try a few different people before I found someone that understood and said the right things.

ipsos · 28/09/2015 17:09

My numbers are looking really good for this month. Only two days to go and my daily grocery expenditure is £5 less than last month, and I've only spent 78p a day on ds's fun and home education stuff. Score!

Ursulatodd · 28/09/2015 17:25

collie I have those denim leggings - they are super flattering! (Also good are tesco high waisted skinnies £18 - they have a lovely plum coloured pair I'm desperate to buy!)

fuzz I really hope the company are reasonable - totally their fault.

Sorry for anxieties everyone Flowers

Spendy day - £30 for cleaner, £64 for childminder.

My £10 challenge is going ok. £3.44 spent today on 4 loo rolls and 15 eggs. £6.66 left to spend. Moroccan chicken is re-heating on the stove and looks like there will be enough left for lunches tomorrow.

Frugal win: found a pair of leather insoles at the bottom of my 'shoe crate' - I've put them in my winter boots (which were starting to feel uncomfortable) and they feel as good as new!

babsmam · 28/09/2015 17:37

Have been off spending money like water so hope I don't miss anyone

£10.85 for younger dd school trip
£2 for older dd for visit from theatre at school plus £40 deposit for residential trip
£5.85 for couple bits in Aldi including a white cabbage for ds who is making coleslaw at school tomorrow, do you think since he only needs a quarter I can send the rest to school with dd on Wednesday for harvest festival or is it better to give them some runner beans from the garden?
Today is beef chow mein for grown ups and pasta and meatballs for kids since they don't like Chinese food. Luckily today is the only day I have to make 2 meals.
Tue - sausage casserole
Wed - schnitzels, wedges and beans
Thu - tacos or chilli and rice
Fri - fish and chips
Sat - lasagne
Sun - roast dinner
Both dds like the courgette and orange cake but ds wouldn't even try it yesterday because it has cream cheese frosting but wants to give it a go today if he can scrape off the frosting Smile

Ememem84 · 28/09/2015 18:18

Nsd!! Yippee!!

spotty hold off until December if you could with sky- you might miss out on the Christmas movies!!!

Girlfriend36 · 28/09/2015 18:18

Collie and Fuzz I have had quite bad anxiety this year, it is so tiring at times! I tried Ads but reacted really badly to them - never again!!

What I have found most helpful is cutting down on sugar and caffeine, exercise and affirmations, I have several I chant over and over when feeling stressed like 'I am safe' and 'I trust the process of life' all a bit woo but I do find it helpful!! Louise Hays books are good.

That said since I had a major panic attack on the motorway I really struggle with motorway driving and that in itself is quite debilitating as means quite restricted as to where we can go!!

Anyhoo spends today have been £44 on petrol, that filled the tank up.

SpottyTeacakes · 28/09/2015 18:21

Em we don't have any of the movie channels, not the decent ones anyway

Ememem84 · 28/09/2015 18:53

Ah then cancel away spotty

bobblypop · 28/09/2015 19:08

evening all
have had quite a spendy few days - but nothing really unplanned
did manage to spend £35 going out for a meal with my sister on Saturday - but is only a once a year thing so not too bad!
Have managed to get a few presents for dc that I saw at a good price...need to start getting organised as Christmas adds up in this household!
I did then buy a new bra in Debenhams today for £22. The price of bras always makes me Shock but it was much needed as I have been wearing the wrong size ones for ages!! Now need a couple more once Im sure it is comfortable and a good fit!
Dh did a big shop in aldi at weekend and meals are all planned...
I also made some butternut squash orange and ginger soup today for lunches tomorrow...
now need to not spend for a few days!!
