Thought I'd start a shiny new thread as we've filled the other one so quickly.

I'm not watching it. Stuff like this makes me angry Grin

babsmam · 17/09/2015 20:52

I don't want to watch it as it makes me want to punch the television. Dh would love it though as he is dying for an excuse to get a new one

babsmam · 17/09/2015 20:57

£300 and odd quid a week on food!!! Fuck me

Girlfriend36 · 17/09/2015 21:02

What cheese were they buying?

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/09/2015 21:17

Good idea Elextrolux. I used to drag the duvet down when we lived in the countryside with only two working storage rads Hmm

Ursula I'm so sorry, you've had a lot to bear there.

£6.50 on kebabs and chips.

I cant watch that show until it comes up on Iplayer so my outrage will have to wait until tomorrow.

Binglet · 17/09/2015 21:26

I've just finished watching eat well for less. Proud frugal moment when DP declares that if they saved us £150 a week on food, they would have to pay us £100 in cash. I cannot believe that some people are able to spend £250 a WEEK!!!!! That's my monthly food spend. When we were really broke when DP was made redundant and I was pregnant we survived off £120 a month for food. Couldn't do that now, no matter how much j want to be frugal it was grim

We have decided we are stuck in a rut of meals ATM. So will try and give that a bit of a shake up. Just transferred CC balance to 0% for 36months so chuffed about that. And overpaying double the minimum. I will be debt free within 2 years! I will

Binglet · 17/09/2015 21:27

Also, only spend 45p on a cup of tea today. But DP gave me that he's a keeper

Passthecake30 · 17/09/2015 21:31

Flowersurshula

The family on feed your family ate some very pricey combinations. ..posh meat, cheese, salad etc just for lunch? After their savings they'll spend almost £200 still, did I catch that correctly? ?!

£4.39 on a footlong subway all for meBlush

Collieputthekettleon · 17/09/2015 21:50

Our monthly food budget is £240! And I think we eat quite well. Frugal meals and tasty small treats. That's for 3 of us & the cat.

Electrolux that's such a good idea! Currently sat on the sofa with DH & the cat. And the cat has stolen ALL the blanket. Blush

AdoraBell · 17/09/2015 22:01

Great idea Electrolux, glad you had the wool.

I watched too, they were eating chicken every day to save money? They'd have saved a lot more having a couple of vege meals a week.

anatha home baking is a lot healthier than shop bought.

Last few days I've been severely tempted by ham, egg and chips in Sainsbo's cafe so I did it at home for dinner.

AdoraBell · 17/09/2015 22:13

Yes Pass, after saving more than many people spend they'll still pend £200 per week

And Collie you probably do eat better than they do, in terms of healthy meals.

Binglet over paying on the CC will really make a huge difference.

needastrongone · 17/09/2015 22:14

ursula I am so sorry for your loss, I have been there and done that. I was pregnant within 4 weeks with DD, which helped enormously, but others I know needed time. I was in pieces though at the time. Take care. x

I need to watch EWFL don't I? I haven't watched this series but got rage at the last!

ipsos Sounds like a good investment. Mental well being is very important. I know when I look at myself in the mirror on a 'can't be bothered' day, and see no make up and scruffy clothes, I feel differently to when I have a touch of mascara and am wearing something half decent.

Had a small shop delivered from Morrisons, I am making elderberry gin and blackberry vodka so bought the saver ranges and just a few other bits.

£5 in training cost for DD. New pony is super speedy and awesome, he frightens most people half to death so they won't get on (lord knows why, he's super easy, just alarmingly quick and won't hang around for you to vault on), I am starting to think he's actually the best buy of the year!

needastrongone · 17/09/2015 22:21

Grin at spotty.

welcome boogie

fuzzpig · 17/09/2015 22:58

Well in the spirit of 'it's always worth complaining' I have emailed a toy company. I ordered a product in the January sales, it was in stock etc. Then got a phonecall saying it was on there by mistake Hmm and was being retired, so there would NEVER be any more.

And now several months later it's available again... so it was not retired. They obviously meant it's seasonal (it's Xmas themed) not that it was being retired. And of course it's full price. Angry

Probably won't get anywhere but sent a (polite, but clearly disappointed!) email anyway. I doubt they'll fulfill my order at sale price but I'm disgruntled that I was given the wrong information!

diggerdigsdogs · 18/09/2015 01:47

ursula Flowers I'm sorry.

I'm thrilled that we've got to Friday and apart from milk I don't have to do another shop. We still have veg and fruit. So my shop this week is going to stretch even further.

We are off to the farm today and are going to see an estate agent about a bit of land DH bought years ago that has lost a third of it's value and costs us unending fees for various things. But no more throwing good after bad, it's got to go.

Had a good moment last night. Had a drink with DH and did some idle internet shopping. I'm thrilled that I didn't get anything - I don't NEED anything - but it came home to me how much lower my spending inhibitions are after a drink.

I desperately want some savings in the bank but can't see that happening until we have paid off some credit card debt. I'm fucking done with being in debt.

lilacclery · 18/09/2015 06:02

Place marking really!
I am trying to shop every fortnight with a small top up on alternate weeks, so sat I bought 8 x 2l milk. There are 3 adults and 2 children in our house & I don't drink milk. Dh told me last night he'd to buy 2 more 2l yesterday that's 20l of milk in one week!!! Shock so my top up will be a bit more expensive than planned as I've to buy more milk & stuff to make wheat free a bit more bearable too.
ipsos thank you for recommending the book, I've a good feeling about this. Have you made the apple & walnut bread or linseed wraps?
pink will check out those free from ranges. I've got rice & sweet potatoes so that will be my carbs for dinners.

We're getting a takeaway sat night dd has been asking for one after hearing her sister in law talking about one last week. She doesn't ask for much so happy to oblige. It can be my last supper Grin

babsmam · 18/09/2015 06:40

Fuzz. I think it's worth a disappointed email. You would have spent, albeit less, money with them but now they are getting none.

£8today for beavers as have to pay for a trip too.

Nsd planned other then that. I went into home bargains last night and spen £2.18! Could have spent loads as the Halloween and Christmas stuff is in but as the bank account was dry I didn't as didn't want to go in the over draft.

Ememem84 · 18/09/2015 06:44

Hoping for nsd today. I'm off work on Monday so have a ton of things which need to be done today.

Left over Chinese food for lunch.
Dh is off work today so he's driving me in so no parking costs.
And slow cooker spaghetti Bol for dinner.

babsmam · 18/09/2015 06:50

Smyths toys are having their in store only 20% off weekend on toys, outdoor and some other sections (not gaming) should anyone have their budget for December sorted yet. It was 25% the last few years

SpottyTeacakes · 18/09/2015 06:56

Nsd planned going to work.

Ursulatodd · 18/09/2015 07:16

Thank you everyone Flowers I was feeling ok but felt quite tearful yesterday reading all of your kind words x

77p on an onion and some coriander. I'm making Jack's bean burgers again at the weekend.

NK5BM3 · 18/09/2015 07:29

Hi all, sorry for not being around... It's been v hectic with a few late nights and early morning starts. V happy it's Friday. Was a bit sad yesterday for various reasons, and today, well, if I can get through it and get my list of things done, I'll be happier.

Tomorrow, dad's birthday party. Tuesday, she will be 5!! Fb put a 'there's memories from your past' post on my wall and there was one that should had posted of her laughing at age 1. V delightful!! Have to keep remember these things, otherwise the shit gets me down!

Have a good weekend!

spotty Grin I have one of those teaching my kids too. I think he's 17!!!!

AuditAngel · 18/09/2015 07:40

Ursula Flowers

Welcome Boogle

Fluffy I was hunting for my jeans this morning (to wear to work for Jeans for Genes day) and I found DS's beautiful red jacket (which was a gift from my very generous MIL). If you PM me your address I will post it to you tomorrow. Please take it, i don't want to send it to the charity shop, it is too gorgeous (and Tommy Hilfiger)

AuditAngel · 18/09/2015 07:50

The kids all finish early here today due to the rugby World Cup opening ceremony. Fortunately DH is off.

I have been at my job for 20 years today. I had a fantastic experience where one of my clients from before my role changed has demanded me back as my old boss isn't looking after him very well. Old boss has said to do it. New boss won't be happy as he already asked me to do a one off piece of work this week and she said I'm too busy. I'll let them sort it out between them. Grin

Yesterday £14 in Waitrose for a beautiful, but un-frugal lunch.

£60 today for DD1's Spanish lessons. But I only had £40 (and need to pay to wear my jeans to work) so helped myself to £30 from DH's wallet. (I will tell him)

AuditAngel · 18/09/2015 07:51

Just discovered DD1 only has one school skirt? Will need to get another. I'll ask first if her cousin has any?
