Welcome, Boogle.

Ursula, so sorry to hear that. X Flowers

NSD.

CremeEggThief · 17/09/2015 18:11

Ooh, SpottyGrin

TheOnlyPink · 17/09/2015 18:36

lilac thank you so much re the phone number, you are so lovely. Dh and ds 2 are coeliac. Gluten/wheat free stuff is expensive, but aldi do a decent free from range, and all tesco products are really well labelled for allergy advice.

collie I often wonder the same about the clothes. Dh gets ages out of his clothes. I wash everything the same, but mine get all washed out and shabby, but his stay perfect.

Orangeisthenewbanana · 17/09/2015 18:45

Welcome Boogle! Only £2 spent today on the work rugby sweepstake and got Australia so a fairly decent chance of getting something back! Grin Dinner is chorizo and tomato pasta to use up stuff from the fridge before we go on holiday to Norfolk on Saturday. Should be some left over for DD's lunch tomorrow too.

My dad was diagnosed with coeliac a few years ago and so my mum has become quite good with cooking for him from scratch - she made some muffins today. It constantly surprises me the amount of things that have gluten in them that he has to watch out for. I can imagine it's really difficult when you're starting out! Got to spend my evening starting to get things together for holiday, I'm sure it will involve a few lists. I love a good list! Smile

Girlfriend36 · 17/09/2015 19:01

Ursula Flowers hope you are o.kay.

Welcome Boogle this thread is great Smile I make sandwiches for myself and dd pretty much every day! I don't think you could make them for cheaper tbh, I buy wholemeal thick sliced from either Lidls or Morrisons normally around 60p a loaf. However home made bread probably has less rubbish in it and would taste better!! Also if you go back to the front of the thread Collie posted a fantastic list of things to do in the Autumn all of which were pretty low cost I think....

Another work day, so NSD for me. Feeling pleased with myself as really have been good at not spending a great deal so far this month Smile

Tomos need to do a food shop, may make it a Lidls one....

Spotty I had a massive crush on one of dds sports teachers, i used to always be the first to pick her up just so I could spend 10 mins drooling over him Blush Grin Just heard that Steve Backshall has got engaged - it should have been me Wink

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2015 19:08

Haha I'm glad it's not just me! He's only about 18 though Blush

babsmam · 17/09/2015 19:26

£1 on car park and £1.20 on post swimming sweets. Will be £80 next week as the block is up for renewal.

I agree re clothes mine never seem to last long before they fade, are ragged or have stinky deodorant pits Blush. The dc seems indestructible sometimes. I need to save for some quality items in natural materials

Collieputthekettleon · 17/09/2015 19:32

Thank goodness it's just not me and my clothes! Some of them make me look so tatty. Blush

AdoraBell · 17/09/2015 19:38

The deputy head at DDs' school isn't too shabbyGrin

TheOnlyPink · 17/09/2015 19:53

babs stinky pits is another problem I have, but never happens dh, I thought it was just me! Blush

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2015 20:06

Eat well for less is annoying me already!

CremeEggThief · 17/09/2015 20:08

I'm watching Amazing Spaces with the rather tasty George Clark on C4. Much better choice!

Girlfriend36 · 17/09/2015 20:10

The jumper I am currently wearing is a mess, the seams have all come undone from cuffs, its completely bobberly and looks shocking!!

Buying new jumpers is on the end of the month payday budget!!

Dd just managed to get a comb completely stuck in her hair Shock thought at age 9.7yo she would be trusted in the bath on her own but it seems not Hmm had to cut her hair to get it out so she now has some ridiculous tufts! May have to make an emergency stop at the hairdressers tomos after school.

Girlfriend36 · 17/09/2015 20:12

I am watching Marley and Me with dd (she need distracting after becoming slightly hysterical when she caught sight of herself in the mirror!) not going to watch until the end though - my heart can't take it Grin

NiceandaSlice · 17/09/2015 20:14

Welcome Boogle, I can really identify with a lot of what you say especially the bit about keeping up with the Joneses. Sadly I haven't found my irl frugal buddy just yet. We have had a Panasonic bread maker for years and use it all the time. I like the bread having no nasties in it but of course it doesn't keep as well so if you are slow to eat a loaf you may find it is more economical to buy. We always finish ours though!
ursula thinking of you and hoping you have good support IRL.
Another NSD today. Meeting a friend tomorrow and hoping to persuade her to come round here for Aldi biccies and coffee - we shall see!

Wolfcub · 17/09/2015 20:16

Just watching eat well for less. 17.5k per year on food - I can't quite believe it

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2015 20:20

I can't either wolf.

Girlie dd got glue in her hair at school yesterday, she was hysterical when I brushed it out!

I don't know why I'm watching this program it really pisses me off!

Iirc peonies and laska are teachers like me. After being iut of the rat race for 6 or 8 weeks, September is a bit of a shick ti our system. We'll be back once we find our groove..... Smile

ohhelpohnoitsa · 17/09/2015 20:30

Ooohhh dear. My grammar is excellent ....my swiftkey is not and I always post in a hurry without proof reading. Please don't despair, I do correct pupils' mistakes Smile

HairsprayQueen · 17/09/2015 20:31

Eat Well for Less related- I've never really considered there must be people buying those posh packet potatoes, potatoes are potatoes (perhaps jersey royals excepted!). I'm assuming having 3 toppings is just for the show too, people don't really do that do they?

annatha · 17/09/2015 20:35

Small frugal win- dh and I fancied something sweet so instead of one of us nipping to the 24hr tesco down the road for £££ worth of crap, we made banana cake and chic chip cookies using the stuff in the cupboards. It jusr highlighted to me how much we've changed, we eat a lot less takeaway, generally more healthy foods (I know the baking isn't healthy but we cook most things from scratch and bulk everything out with lots of veg) and spend a lot less on our food shopping. We're by no means perfect but we're getting better!

JemimaMuddledUp · 17/09/2015 20:37

Spends today:
£3.50 swim (will get half of this back from work)
80p on the local paper
£1.75 on a magazine
£1 on yoghurts
£1 on milk

Hectic evening today, hockey training, two lots of football training and youth club. But DS1 cooked his and DS2's dinner to save time.

Watching Eat Well for Less. It is making me want a steak sandwich...

SpottyTeacakes · 17/09/2015 20:37

Dh and I were ranting about the potatoes too!

Wolfcub · 17/09/2015 20:43

I couldn't believe they could save £1000 a year by down shifting their
Cheese. Frightening. I might have another look aty shopping!
