Thought I'd start a shiny new thread as we've filled the other one so quickly.

fuzzpig Grin I actually laughed then repeated it to my DH who just giggled......

Pointlessfan · 13/09/2015 19:47

Great joke fuzz!

lilacclery · 13/09/2015 20:04

Place marking - forgot the Yorkshire puddings in shopping yesterday so made some instead yummy!!
Made soup for myself out of leftover veg from dinner. Made apple, pear & strawberry crumble using teeny apples from our own tree it was lush!
Yesterday I made potato cakes from leftover mash, feeling domesticated!
Someone just asked about monthly shop I can't advise on that but I stretched ours to fortnightly just this past few weeks & ended up topping up fruit & milk midway through second week.
This week I bought extra of both so will see how it goes.

We went to feed the ducks, it was so wet we just wound down windows & fed them through there

Pointlessfan · 13/09/2015 20:10

I meant to ask earlier. Can you freeze risotto?

Pointlessfan · 13/09/2015 20:10

I meant to ask earlier. Can you freeze risotto?

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2015 20:16

Yes you can just make sure you cool it really quickly first.

Freeandsinglewater · 13/09/2015 20:23

I've had a NSD!!
Wooooo yay! Grin
Tomorrow I'm off to work, the only thing I'm worried about is spending money on crisps and rubbish.

I can't believe it's £20 on those strips.
Sorry pointless I have no idea.

Unescorted · 13/09/2015 20:40

Vit Bs - eat Vegemite (or Marmite if you must)

Monthly shopping - you need a great knowledge of recipes and have a good store cupboard. I know I go on about the spice cupboard - but it means the thingsI bought 3 weeks ago can be one of 20 different meals. Substituting things in recipes is also an essential skill.

I also keep a shopping list on the go of non urgent items - it is easy to forget what is running low and what you are building up a stock of. I currently have 6 jars od wholegrain mustard, but keep forgetting horseradish even with the shpping list.

I also do a 2 or 3 statement recipes and plan the other meals around them - these will be the big weekend meals or when we have people over.

Plan for your top up shops too - I go in for milk, cream and short shelf life vege, with a list that I don't deviate from.

needastrongone · 13/09/2015 20:52

Evening all. Thank you. I am thankful for your kind messages of support and kindness. I am very emotional and up and down. I will seek extra help, but just need to process things a touch myself a bit first. xx

In other news Smile, it's been a low spend weekend as DD and myself have been at a competition, DH has spent around £25.

Hope DD is feeling a little better spotty

Welcome lavent

ipsos · 13/09/2015 20:56

Sorry hear that you're having to deal with that need. It's good that you are managing to do it now rather than letting it bottle up though, and great that you are going to get extra help. Hang in there and keep telling us if we can help.

blueteapot · 13/09/2015 21:07

haha that joke doesn't work in NI if you read it out loud - we pronounce it 'pre-mark' lol! Took me a min (but then it is sunday night and I'm half asleep lol)

Proud of myself today, kids to the park this morning, which is by my uncles so we went there for coffee, home for leftovers for lunch, then for dinner I made chicken, spuds and carrots with stuffed bacon rolls with proper homemade stuffing using my own sage from the windowsill! And some homemade chocolate buns with nutella in them. Yum yum.

DH went for diesel and picked up beans and yoghurts for the kids. MIL took DS out for a few hours so DD and I went and got the picture hanging things I thought DH wanted from homebase, £7. Turns out he just meant normal little picture hooks but I do like the 3M hanging things that don't damage the wall so I may keep them instead of returning. Promised myself no more house stuff / DIY but I do want a few pictures up to cosy up the living room!

This is the first week for set spending money, so this evening I withdrew £50 each from the cashpoint. Seems like a lot of money but I know we have been frittering a lot more than this so I'm thinking not setting it too low to begin with is a better plan than taking it down very low then failing. I have also made DHs lunch up to save him spending on that (and demonstrate that he can have his full spending money and packed lunch, or bought lunches using his spending money, but he cant have his cake and eat it!)

AdoraBell · 13/09/2015 21:24

NSD at last. Yesterday I spent another £12 in the supermarket. I really fancied roast chicken for today so there's enough for a couple of packed lunches and another dinner.

Supermarket delivery coming on Tuesday, £74.

Thanks for Need

annatha · 13/09/2015 21:38

Thinking of you need

Thanks unescorted, do you find it saves you money instead of doing it weekly? We've got a fairly decent spice cupboard and freezer space so it might work for us.

Collieputthekettleon · 13/09/2015 21:38

Lying in bed listening to the rain whilst thinking of all the new clothes I need for my trip to Scotland (the in laws) in October.

I am posting this because it helps me realise that I'm being an idiot. I don't need any new clothes. Hmm seeing sense now.

kazzaF21 · 13/09/2015 21:51

SpottyTeacakes I'm hoping to book Ruxley Manor Garden Centre. We booked it a couple of years ago, but missed out last year due to being fully booked! Determined this year to book on time, when they go on sale 15th September.

Girlfriend36 that sounds lovely and memorable for your DD's 10th! Something different and girly. How much are the horse riding lessons? I would love my DD to do it, but realistically we can't afford it, as she does gymnastics and have 2 boys also. Thank you for the tip on Amazon ear plugs/equipment! I will look on there and order some. Everything to keep Ds's ears dry, as he's an absolute fidget!

Regarding vitamins, I take ASDA's selenium & A,C & E - 60 for £1.50. I bought them for the vitamin A, as I'm a veggie and I was getting very dry eyes. No problem with the eyes now, so recommended!

ipsos · 13/09/2015 21:53

That's nice to know that your inlaws are Scottish Collie. I'm Scottish too, though living in the south now. Have you ever considered moving up there? It's a heck of a lot cheaper.

I did my monthly numbers the other day and my spending last month had gone up massively. All this budgeting has made me realise how stingy I am about my own clothes and dh's food, so I splashed out a bit. Splashing out a bit on really very little fairly adds up doesn't it?

Girlfriend36 · 13/09/2015 22:18

Kazza the riding lessons are £15 which I can't really afford but somehow manage, my mum is very generous and has helped pay for them. I think the party there would be good and her friends would really enjoy it - we will see!

I have had 7 years of ear trouble with dd so feel your pain with ear plugs and keeping water out at swimming! Dd went swimming today and point blank refused to put her ear plugs in, we will see if she ends up with an infection - am ever hopeful that she may have finally grown out of them!

I take Morrisons own brand multi vitamin, not convinced they do much though as my skin is terrible, am still feeling knackered and I have a mouthful of ulcers Confused Hmm I have some Superdrug ones maybe i should try them instead...

Fuzz am sorry I don't get the joke Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2015 22:36

I don't get the joke either Blush

Girlfriend36 · 13/09/2015 22:41

Grin Spotty maybe you have to know something about Transformers of which I am totally ignorant!!

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2015 01:48

I reckon so Grin

My eBay sales are £104. I'll work out my profit after fees and postage once they're dispatched. Pushchair went for £61 not great but it's only worth what someone will pay and it is two years old plus. The dc have woken me up but I think they're going back to sleep, I'm listening to the rain.

Collieputthekettleon · 14/09/2015 04:34

ipsos I would love to relocate to Scotland. I've often pondered about it. Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 14/09/2015 06:37

Dd has made an overnight recovery and ds has lost his voice Grin

Should be a nsd unless I post some eBay bits. I haven't got any bags which is annoying. Car has its mot so I can't go out anywhere

babsmam · 14/09/2015 06:40

Morning all. Back to the routine today

ipsos · 14/09/2015 07:15

Glad dd is better spotty. :-)

This is optimus prime, a transformer figure. I think he is the missing link in understanding the joke. www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4048082.htm

collie I like to pipe dream about moving to Scotland too. I spend a lot of time on rightmove doing it. :-)

Collieputthekettleon · 14/09/2015 07:17

NSD today!
