Thought I'd start a shiny new thread as we've filled the other one so quickly.

Good luck there. If her tongue gets red and swollen then it's scarlet fever. That's the only distinguishing feature at the beginning.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2015 14:28

Yeah I've been working at the Drs surgery since scarlet fever has reappeared I don't think it's that luckily Smile haven't heard of any cases locally for ages.

Passthecake30 · 13/09/2015 15:58

spotty your poor dd. Though I know what you mean, about "she gets this quite frequently", my dc's have had something weird probably every year or two -temps around 39-40c, lethargy and no other symptoms, it goes in 3 days. I don't tend to take them to the docs, but just have a very close eye, if they didn't improve after 3 days I'd take them then.

Spends in the last few days - £68 for Panto in Dec, I want to go every year and then it doesn't happen as I feel poor. So have bought early.

Bought ds new dance shoes (£15) and there was a mum wanting the size smaller, which weren't available. I let her try on ds's old pair and then she gave me a fiver....

Food spends around £55, I need to do a boring online delivery of cleaning stuff/loo rolls at some point.

Tooth fairy, £1...

Swimming £21

Lovely weather so am happy to have the washing out (nerd!)

annatha · 13/09/2015 16:14

Hope your dd is feeling better soon spotty

digger thanks, I've been on the supplements for a week now and have noticed a definite increase in energy so that's good. Trying to use it as an excuse to sort my diet out though as I always lose my appetite by the 3rd trimester and just pick at snacky food.

Productive evening yesterday- made a pasta sauce for the freezer with tomatoes that would usually be wasted and also a big batch of mashed veggies for dd. Really trying to cut down on our food waste.

Those who do a monthly shop, how often do you do top up shops? We shop weekly, I'd like to try fortnightly but I struggle to plan a weeks worth of meals in advance anyway, and most fresh stuff wouldn't last a fortnight. Is it a case of buying, freezing meat/veg and defrosting as required?

lavent · 13/09/2015 16:42

Thank you Smile

Today have spent:

£10 petrol - hopefully last the week but I can see me using the car quite a bit as rain forecast.

£3.50 dryers @ launderette

£1 sweets to bribe DC to go to the launderette Grin

I do my weekly shop on a Monday night to be delivered Tuesday evening so will be meal planning later.

Collieputthekettleon · 13/09/2015 16:54

Hey lavent

We only spent £.50 today! Budget was £15. Woooooo hooooo. Knackered though

The week ahead looks boring and bleak Sad

Collieputthekettleon · 13/09/2015 16:55

£6.50! Oops

babsmam · 13/09/2015 17:15

Hello Lavant.

Went to a local castle that I usually begrudge paying for, and decided it's not worth paying for. Luckily twas free on the heritage weekend. £10 in the tea shop.
Baking up a storm for bake sale on Tuesday at work. unlikely but Anyone who works with me bring plenty of cash to work
Need to go into town tomorrow and print photos for a school project. And go to bloody millets and change some stuff after they have messed me around for a week. Also need more sugar and ginger for baking

CremeEggThief · 13/09/2015 17:19

Welcome, Lavent.

NSD.

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2015 17:32

That's just it pass except dd gets it 4/5 times a winter and 2/3 of those times it'll become a chest infection. She's only ever had two sickness bugs though.

Bil bought me maltesers I'm going to have them for dinner Grin

CremeEggThief · 13/09/2015 17:42

Hope she feels better soon, Spotty.

Girlfriend36 · 13/09/2015 18:33

Hi all, been working all day but not been too busy thank Goodness, tired now so aiming for an early night.

Seem to have a mouthful of ulcers all of a sudden Confused if its not one thing its another! Ipsos I think I banged my hand on something when I was waving it around manically (i hate spiders!) the lump has gone down but still bruised and sore.

Spotty hope your dd feels better soon, glad you got some strips. Was thinking of you today as the majority of the patients i see on a wend are diabetics who need us to do their insulin. How are you finding the pump?

Dd seems o.kay today, she has had a good but busy wend with my mum going to try and get her into bed early as well...

NSD Smile

kazzaF21 · 13/09/2015 18:36

GreenWalls That's great news! Must feel like a weights been lifted.

Girlfriend36 and AuditAngel Have either of you thought about a pizza hut party? I have done this for both my sons. £7.99 per head and min. 7 children. Left me a comfortable amount to get a cake, decent party bag fillers and balloons.

NSD yesterday and NSD today. Spends this coming week are DS school dinner money £2 per day for 3 days, as paid up until Tuesday. DD has a party Sunday, so need to get kids card and prezzie. Want to book Santa's Grotto for Dec. so approx. £33 there.

Got to post E-Bay sale tomorrow-£4ish on a coat!

Need to do a priority list of spends, according to month! Not easy is it?! DD needs boots, DS2 swimming goggles/earplugs/band/cap (he has grommets), ongoing winter clothes for kids. Halloween, DS2 birthday in November, Chessington renewal pass, Christmas and then fees for gymnastics and Trampolining in Dec.

Will soldier on the E-Bay and surveys for Paypal cash. Increasing work hours. So trying!

kazzaF21 · 13/09/2015 18:40

Also signed up for Marriage Allowance, so that should help save £212 a year, especially with Dh putting into a pension now.

fuzzpig · 13/09/2015 18:45

I seem to have a huge list of things we need to get ATM. I sense a big Amazon order coming. Might try and put most of it off til after payday but some things can't really wait Hmm

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2015 18:52

We did a pizza express party for dd I think they all enjoyed it!

Girlie it's amazing and completely life changing I'm so thankful I've got it and extremely grateful to my consultant. I have yet to have an hba1c will get it done next month but they have said it can take up to a year to see a dramatic change.

Kazza which Santa's grotto are you going to? We do a big trip each year to one it's our little tradition we are starting.

I'm sat in ds' bedroom hoping he will fall asleep. It was be easier if he would at least try to blow his nose!

My tesco delivery saver has come to an end I wonder if they'll do another offer like last year I think I'll keep an eye out as I got any time delivery for £30.

TheOnlyPink · 13/09/2015 18:54

Welcome to the thread lavent!

spotty hope your dd feels better soon. £20 a tub for strips! Would love to be able to be so blase about that cost, like the man in the pharmacy! Hmm

girlfriend huge sympathy on the mouth ulcers! I get them very often. Some people swear by a B vitamin.

Spent ??10 on milk and some lunch stuff for tomorrow. Every week I swear I won't shop on Sundays but I never manage it! We always run out and need stuff for packed lunches! And with coeliac dh and ds 2, it's a pricey top up.
Mil pissed me off no end too. We usually get on well, but this one issue is really getting on my nerves and I've already spoken to her about it, so need to just bite my tongue now. I had every intention of buying myself some junk food to cheer myself up, but I didn't. Pleased with my frugal and weight win! Smile

TheOnlyPink · 13/09/2015 18:57

fuzz feel the same. Have loads that we need to get. Wondering is it the time of year.

JemimaMuddledUp · 13/09/2015 18:59

Today I have spent:
£6 entry for DH & I to the rugby tournament (u16s went in free)
£1 on a tray of chips for DD and DS2 to eat while they were watching DS1 play as they were cold and hungry and the picnic bag was empty.

Not bad for a whole day rugby tournament (we left the house at 8:30 and were home at 4:30). Plus DS1's team won and he scored 5 tries! Grin

Dinner tonight was Quorn sausages, mash, cabbage and gravy and lots of it - everyone was starving after being out all day. I cooked extra Quorn sausages and made sausage pasta for DS1 and DS2's lunches tomorrow.

Hope your DD is better soon spotty

SpottyTeacakes · 13/09/2015 19:08

Mmm cabbage jemima you've reminded me I've still got some red cabbage portions in the freezer. A red cabbage is often only 50p and can easily make enough for six dinners for us.

Thanks for the well wishes poor dd she's upset she can't go to school tomorrow and I'm worried about what she might miss.

Girlfriend36 · 13/09/2015 19:11

Kazza I think will probably go for a horse riding party at the stables my dd has lessons at, although need to double check cost. Don't mind spending a bit more as it will be for her 10th which I sort of think of as a bigger bday!

Have you checked Amazon for silicone ear plugs? My dd has had grommets twice and I have had years of testing out various ear plugs Grin I have found these ear plugs as good as any. Although eventually dd had some especially made for her at ENT. They cost £30 but should last for as long as she needs them.

Would also recommend using a normal swim cap rather than a head band as these are better at keeping the ear plugs in and water out example for my dd I actually cut the top part off the hat so that it looked like a band - this made it easier to put on iyswim.

Pink I take an multivitamin so would have thought that included b vitamins.

Spotty that sounds brilliant re the pump, I am waiting for a patient to get one so I can learn a bit more about them!

fuzzpig · 13/09/2015 19:15

Oh hell, vitamins. That's another thing. I think supplements did help when I took them (particularly B, D, iron) but I'll wait til I'm in town as the Boots offers are usually good.

Beautiful sausage casserole tonight that was pretty frugal (well, the sausages were a bit pricey, but that's because DH is coeliac so couldn't use cheap ones!) - sweet potato, loads of tinned tomatoes, carrot, onion, garlic, pepper, bit of paprika, served with rice.

Pointlessfan · 13/09/2015 19:22

Welcome lavent.
Some lovely meal plans on here today, it's making me hungry!
We did a bit more of our garden renovation, we're trying to do a little bit at a time. Spent £90 at the garden centre - ouch! That was after a 10% discount with my card too. Got quite a lot of plants though and loads of spring bulbs and a large ceramic pot for the patio. That was £20 which surprised me, I expected it to be much more. I need to start looking out for second hand bits though.
Took DD to the park this afternoon and spent £2 on a ride on the land train which was good fun for her. Hoping tomorrow will be NSD.

fuzzpig · 13/09/2015 19:33

£67 lighter £17 of that comes off our entertainment budget though - haven't used any for ages but we'd promised to get season 8 of BBT. The rest is household stuff. Doesn't include aforementioned vitamins, and DH needs stuff like work trousers and socks but at least they can be cheap in town.

Which reminds me of a joke.
What do you call a Transformer who likes cheap clothes?

£9 on painting equipment and £5 on microwaveable bed bath wipes for my MIL who is having an op this week. I had them when I was in HDU and its so nice to be clean even when you can't manage a shower or bath.
