Thought I would start a new one since the old one is full!

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 25/08/2015 18:32

I missed you lot too Grin

There's an opening for a receptionist at the nearest Nuffield hospital. Would I be wrong to assume that it would be less demanding? The benefits are obviously great with free gym membership (pahaha) and certain medical cover (they def wouldn't touch me!) plus ten days a year more holiday pro rata.

Girlfriend36 · 25/08/2015 18:39

Spotty that job sounds great I would go for it! I reckon it would be loads less demanding, the few Nuffield hospitals I have seen are more like hotels!

It does say good pension available but tbh, although the NHS one is great, mine isn't worth much as I only work 12 hours a week Grin

I work in a lot of Nuffield hospitals and they are lovely and treat their staff well

SpottyTeacakes · 25/08/2015 19:22

It just says this:

31 days annual leave pro rata
Flexible pension options
Life assurance and healthcare schemes Health assessments (after a qualifying period)
Free membership of our fantastic Nuffield Health Fitness & Wellbeing Centres, with heavily subsidised memberships for family
Cycle to work scheme
Childcare vouchers
Employee assistance programme for professional advice and counselling - legal, financial, etc.
Employee discounts on a wide range of products or services

Anyway it's something to think about. I might give it a go no harm in trying Smile

Spent £6.28 in The Range on crafty stuff. Not too bad. There was a floor lamp in there for £86 that looked like a bulb with tinsel wrapped around the top with fairy lights at the bottom. Grin I can never unsee that. My poor eyes.

Good luck with it spotty
My spends today are €112.73 from joint account in aldi. Text dh to see what was needed other than catnuts, jam milk & tomato ketchup was his reply Grin what exactly we were going to eat for the week I'm not entirely sure!

I did well salmon fillets & ham joints were on the super six so got two packs of each, mince was also on it got that too, bought the aged sirloin as a treat for sat night after I do a 5k endurance race! Lots of spices, fruit, salad, snacks etc too. Hope to eek this out to mid week next week if possible.

lilacclery · 25/08/2015 19:53

Dd also getting interested in crafts. It's too far away from Christmas to wait until then to get her stuff.

I'm in Ireland so will try dealz or Mr price for stuff.

Anyone use paints at home? I've resisted until now because of the mess! Consoled myself that she was painting about 3 times a week at preschool she won't be now though

Pointlessfan · 25/08/2015 19:54

Thank goodness we're back, I missed you all!
Wheely that sounds very hard, I panic if DH works late! I hope you are ok.
I'm still on my cleaning mission. Spent about a tenner today on plant spray bottles x 3 to make my own thrifty cleaning products, a long handled dustpan & brush to cut down vacuum use and a squeegee. I also found one of those UV sunsuits that will fit DD next summer, it was £1.99 in the charity shop - result! The dustpan and brush has also become her new favourite toy so it was sort of two for the price of one! She actually cried when I took it off her to sweep up!
I'm now on the lookout for some of those super absorbent microfibre door mats, not even Wilkos had them today.
Most exciting development through is that my bank reckon they can do me a better deal on my mortgage. Going in two weeks with all the paperwork to see what they can do.
Feeling much more positive today, think it's all the cleaning, it's therapeutic!

Whatabout · 25/08/2015 19:56

I bought one of the paper rolls in ikea and taped it to the table and we went mad. Once. My son does it at nursery, I'd rather do models with boxes and tape as its cleaner!

Fluffycloudland77 · 25/08/2015 20:01

Pointless Have you heard of London and Country brokers? they do quotes over the phone.

Staying with the banks less paperwork though. I'm weighing up using them V staying with the same bank for November.

babsmam · 25/08/2015 20:15

Hurrah you are back. Missed you. Lufs you all [soppy]
Sorry if I miss anyone, here goes:
Love the love seat lilac
Big hug wheely that sounds very tough.
Ah the book people table of tat. Look forward to seeing that at work.
Good luck pointless dh with job.
Spotty apply, nothing to lose but the time to apply.

Paint is fine, second ikea paper roll or wall lining paper. Make sure it's washable paint though.

babsmam · 25/08/2015 20:17

£4 today on a fitness class which is a relief after yesterday.

Further £40 in sainsbury yesterday afternoon.

Dd also need a full range of dance shoes now. It's never ending

SpottyTeacakes · 25/08/2015 20:32

Yes to ikea roll for paints. We also paint big pebbles in the garden Grin

Whatabout · 25/08/2015 20:34

Water painting in the garden is good, bucket of water, wall painting brushes and we pint the paving :-)

CremeEggThief · 25/08/2015 20:42

£5 yoga. Feels good to be back Smile
£4.20 bus fare to and from yoga.

Soo nice to see everyone again. I missed you all too! X

CremeEggThief · 25/08/2015 20:43

Spotty, apply. You have nothing to lose!

574ejones · 25/08/2015 21:13

Go for it Spotty - good experience if nothing else!

I used to love craft time with my DS. Do it in the garden or kitchen if you are worried about it going everywhere (remembers time when paint ended up on the ceiling of the dining room)!

Just spent a small fortune on airport parking for Oct when am off to see my sis in Canada. Can see it being a BFFF but am also hoping it will be an opportunity that we won't get again, especially as staying with her will have saved us loads. Will be looking at car rental deals over the weekend for over there.

On the plus side, DS2 only needs new school trousers - everything else still fits (knew that old chestnut of "you'll grow into it" would pay off!)

lilacclery · 25/08/2015 21:32

Ok big roll of paper & washable paints & garden table so might be workable. Or crafty bits with pva glue!!

babsmam we lufs you vwery much too!
pointless microfibre door mats sound interesting. We're wallbuilding at the moment & the sand is coming in on everyone's shoes, I've actually got rid of mat & am putting a black towel down at the moment, they're washable & seem to contain it better.

girlie how did dd get on at her day out?

northender · 25/08/2015 21:33

Nice to be back with you all Smile.

Yesterday was spendy but expected and necessary. £108 on school shoes for the dc, £53 in aldi, £25 on petrol.

Today has been an NSD. A friend of ours has been staying locally with work for a couple of days. He came round for dinner tonight, I made a curry & he bought bhajis, poppadums etc from the local restaurant to go with it, lovely treat.

Finally I've done my meal plan.
Last night was roast chicken
Tonight chicken curry
Wednesday leftover chicken in some form, not sure what yet
Thursday pork casserole
Friday burgers at cricket presentation evening (free as usual as I cook them)
Saturday scone dough pizza

Collieputthekettleon · 25/08/2015 21:43

Sounds exciting Spotty go for it!

Oh I did have a look at those Ikea rolls. But...... The nearest one is 2.5 hours away. Sigh! Checking eBay for similar. DS NEEDS a Childrens Ikea Kitchen for his birthday. He adores them. So may drive up one day for a big haul (in our tiny car!)

I felt really sick for the last few hours but had to crack on with a 2 week meal plan. Which was SO hard because the thought of every food made me feel worse. I didnt put my heart and soul into shopping this week and it came to a whooping £127. But I am confident it'll actually last for 3 weeks. I'll be moaning about having to do super frugal shops mid September. Just you wait Grin as I refuse to spend more than our set monthly budget which is £240.

My Winter store cupboard now consists of custard (I always want to type custurd! Grin), rice pudding, jam, oats, soups and pork/apple stuffing. Tis building up quite nicely!
