I'd put it on the cc, it will lead to more future fun times!

ItsAll · 31/07/2015 21:50

Yay, great news Fluffy Smile.

Whatabout · 31/07/2015 21:53

Thank goodness Fluffy!

Good news fluffy.

LSD: 95p on bottle of emergency premade formula for when baby DS is at DM he wont touch it but it keeps her happy quiet
£10 on window cleaner which had totally forgotten about but can now see out of the windows upstairs

peppapissinpig · 01/08/2015 00:00

Excellent news Fluffy!

Does anyone bother freezing milk? I normally buy 6 pints from Aldi then top up during week from our local, much more expensive coop.

I've heard mixed reports on how safe it is to drink thawed milk.

AdoraBell · 01/08/2015 00:27

And the spending started tonight. DH bought fish & chips, don't know How much but I Spent £11 in the supermarket on stuff To Go with chips for us and Pudding the share. Then find out our local chippy does GF fish & chips.

Tomorrow we are going out for lunch, no idea who is paying yet.

Glad you found your wedding ring Fluffy Grin.

YY To paying 9.50 off the CC.

And binglet paying off even a small bit extra will make a differencne. If you compare your min payment with the interest added it's almost cancelled out so even just a few pounds extra helps to reduce the overall bill.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/08/2015 07:02

Thank you everyone Flowers

YY to freezing milk. You would need to thaw it in the fridge though. Would you consider UHT milk? I see people in aldi buying it by the tray.

fyf20quid.co.uk/ I dont know if this website is the same as the old "feed your family for £100 a month" or if it means feed your family for £20 a week but only dinners but it looks really good and it's got lots of info on slow cookers and a forum, a facebook page and a pinterest page.

SeasideSunshine · 01/08/2015 07:11

Fluffy glad you found it.

Does the freezing work well? I've always been a bit loathe to try it, with fears of blowing up a milk carton in the freezer. Not that my freezer usually has the room. I keep a couple UHT milks in the cupboard during the summer and up to 6 on hand over the winter, in case of illness or bad weather when we can't get to the supermarket. I just keep an eye on the date and use it/replace it when it gets close.

The fyf20quid site is good - I'm linked up to their fb page and there's always lots of good info. I think they use an online meat supplier that I'm curious about trying.

NSD yesterday, hopefully today as well.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/08/2015 07:20

The bottles dont leak or burst. You can buy marked down milk and freeze and it will last just as long too.

Do you mean muscle foods? I'm curious about them too. I need to cost it out compared to Aldi. The sausages I get off the butcher but they are so good you only need 1 in a cooked breakfast and 3 each in a dinner.

SeasideSunshine · 01/08/2015 07:22

Yes, muscle foods, that's it. I buy sausages and chicken fillets at the butcher (about a 3 minute walk from my house - I like to support local businesses). But I am curious.

This thread is moving way too fast for me! Hadn't logged in on my new phone as couldn't remember password I have now though.

I've been busy hunting for a new au pair for end of August & was successful in just one week! Previous times it's taken three weeks of tearing my hair out & stress. Paying an extra €10 a week but getting a nights babysitting in lieu monthly which normally costs €50 & dh isn't great for us doing things as a couple hoping now as its 'free' we'll have date night once a month.

theonlypink have you parcel motel nearby? I use chemistdirect.co.uk for our medicine needs spent about €60 last year & did us for all colds ailments & teething related pain for the year. Spent £40 in January this year & did wind up buying teething granules in chemist & just putting through an order this weekend for another £40 works out at about €7 a month this year so far but ds has been in a lot of pain with teeth hoping for this delivery to last well into next year.

Dh birthday today but he's working, we'll go out for lunch on Monday when he's off, gift card for restaurant already purchased Grin
Meeting a friend today for lunch with kids & owe her for a cloth nappy €12 she's buying a dress & top I had on fb selling group for €10 so €2 balance due & won't be having dessert due to making cake for dh birthday later so I'm budgeting €20 for lunch €50 less tesco voucher for diesel leaving €26 in my purse €2 is my friends so hopefully kids can find something small for dh birthday with remainder.

Hi new people.
Collie and fluffy sorry you are having rubbish times. Well done on finding the ring and fingers crossed for the car.
Local market today in the village then national trust with a pic nic before 'home' for tea.
Gonna stop recording holiday spends and restart properly when I get back home next Saturday. I have reined it in a bit now but may have to get the dc new swim suits as the beach has trashed them. We will see. Any tips on the best time to travel north on the m5 on a Saturday?

babsmam · 01/08/2015 07:52

Nk good news on the website.

Binglet · 01/08/2015 07:53

Spendy day for us today. 120 mile round trip for me and DD to try on bridesmaids dresses for friends wedding. It exciting but the drive really takes the edge away. But hey ho, needs must. Then out for dinner for brothers birthday and out for school reunion that I've organised (last year when we weren't broke). So can't bail on that one. Going to take packed lunch for me and DD for our drive and I'm hoping DP will pay for dinner. So hopefully just £20 for tonight for s couple of drinks.

I shall be being a hermit for the next few weeks though. And have found a gift for fiends DD for around £10 mark from NOTHS which is fabulous so will order that later. Just need to search around for a voucher code hopefully.

Binglet · 01/08/2015 07:54

Forgot to mention. Petrol is budgeted for thank god. So dont have to worry about that. We put it on an old CC which only has a £200 limit and pay it off in full every month. Really helps. And I'm hoping it will help rebuild my shot to shit credit rating Hmm

oliveobsessed · 01/08/2015 08:00

fluffy seaside i use musclefood they are very good in my experience. I think they have a groupon on at the moment.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/08/2015 08:01

Interesting question. The problem with drying on racks etc in the house is the water goes into the walls/atmosphere. You can walk into some houses and smell the damp washing drying.

How about a spin dryer www.curiua.com/dp/B007BMSL60 for £76 and then tumble dry. I read on one website that 5 minutes of spin drying saves half an hour tumble drying but I haven't got a dryer.

I got a pint of water out of a king sized duvet cover, a white cotton top and a work tunic the other day.

If people had gas powered tumble dryers it would cost pennies to dry clothes after spinning.

Fluffycloudland77 · 01/08/2015 08:12

Groupon you say? Theres usually cashback on groupon too.

Missymoomoo1979 · 01/08/2015 08:21

Hi everyone I would like to join in please.

I have a holiday to save for, we haven't booked yet as I want to save as much as I possibly can and book just after christmas, I'm putting £100 of my wages straight into my savings account. We will also need to get 3 kids passports and 2 adults, so it's quite a huge task, I have a tin I can't open that I'm putting 1 and 2 pound coins in for the passports.

I'm crap with money, I start to do lists for shopping extra but always fall off the wagon, I'm determined I'm going to stick with it this time though.

Today is shopping day, going to go Morrison's as they've got their voucher offer on at the moment plus once you hit 5000 points with the match and more card you get a £5 voucher, I'm saving these to use at christmas. Also have a birthday party this afternoon and I'm out for a couple of hours this evening with my cousin, tomorrow is a nsd though.

fuzzpig · 01/08/2015 08:36

Type of tumble dryer is a big factor, when I was looking for one I saw that a heat pump condenser was up to two thirds less cost than a regular condenser. I bloody love ours, anyway, it's really fast. Novelty hasn't worn off yet!

Odd question, but has anyone had a rug dry cleaned before, and if so do you remember what you paid? We've got a really old one, not like a take-up-the-whole-room size or anything. I guess it'd be a good plan to measure it first if we are going to phone a few places?

northender · 01/08/2015 08:39

Morning all.
fluffy glad you found your ring, but wondering how you lost the Hugh FW Veg book, it's massive!
Yy to the spin dryer. I love mine & once you've got it it's quite addictive, watching/measuring how much water comes out (as fluffy obviously doesGrin
Great news on the driveway fund, dh got some back pay yesterday which we had forgotten about so that has gone straight to one side. Ds' t shirts end on eBay tomorrow so that will be some more.
Going to our local agricultural show today £20 admission.

Going to pick up my "new" car today. Old car went to the scrap yard yesterday £118 for that Smile. collie hope you get the car you want.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

fuzzpig · 01/08/2015 09:06

Good grief this thread moves quickly. Pink I just saw your comment about the amazon prime thing, yes I think they do get the kindle thing on it too actually, which would be great for DSD1 who is a bookworm! Thanks, I'd not thought of that :) they'd all get a lot of use from the streaming, although a friend has mentioned that they keep changing which series are included, and some you'd still have to pay for. But, if they carried on with their netflix subscription anyway, then hopefully it wouldn't be an issue, if there were different shows available on each. Hope your little boy is ok now!

Planned DS' birthday presents last night, some lego, a small thunderbirds toy, a board game and a couple of books (also a DVD but that was free from Disney Movie Rewards). Lucky boy. Both DCs have summer birthdays so we tend to go a bit mad then, as that's it til Christmas Blush. Haven't ordered them just yet but will start today I think, as I've still got a £20 Amazon giftcard that I ordered when they had the 'buy £20 of giftcards, get a £5 giftcard code for yourself' offer :o I've used the code already as we needed a butterdish.
