Hi all blimey this thread is getting very busy! Welcome newbies Smile

So have had a day at Lyme Regis, was good although my friends didn't turn up I got a phone call to say they couldn't park and had turned around and gone home again Hmm Sad Tbf it was very busy but still I was disappointed not to see them.

Anyway dd and I had a good time, spends £7 parking Shock that was for 7 hours though! About £3 in the arcades, £3.50 ice creams, £4.50 fish n chips for dd, £2.50 in the gem stone shop, £1.50 on balls for bat n ball!!

So about £22 in all not too bad as was aiming for a £20 budget.

A quiet few days planned now before Weymouth next week!

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/07/2015 21:58

Bit flaky of them.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/07/2015 06:12

Wow girlie I think that's really mean!

babsmam · 31/07/2015 07:26

I think that's a bit off girlie. Given its peak tourist season parking hunting should be factored in.
Forgot to mention the £11 parking for 2 days in looe. Off to Padstow today so no doubt something like that too.
Taking a pic nic but will also eat out. Had a. Relatively cheap day yesterday about a tenner on drinks and ice cream, £4.50 was on a beach inflatable that was half price. I love surfa clothes and tried a few on too expensive though.

Hi all, just de-lurking briefly Smile.

I threw away such a lot of out of date food a couple of days ago - massive frugal fail Confused. We've had a really difficult couple of weeks though, so onwards and upwards.

DH and I have both just been paid, so we'll do some bank account re-distribution later today and see where we are.

TooExtraImmatureCheddar · 31/07/2015 08:06

I need to unclench. DH has spent a third of his month's personal spends already, in 3 days. I am trying to tell myself that it's entirely up to him how he spends it, while fighting with the little voice inside that is going "he's not fucking getting any of mine or the general spends budget if he blows all his". I haven't spent any of mine because I'm saving for a hair cut.

girlie Shock at your friends, how strange.

Oh collie, it's not going great is it at the minute?!

ItsAll Sorry to hear you have had a difficult few weeks.

Too I have a DH very much like this too. Even after nearly 20 years together, it still drives me batty. You cannot control what how he spends his money, so unclench, but under no circumstances give him any of yours. He won't learn if you do. It's harder for me, as DH is a high earner, and gives us the life style that we do, so I feel a bit of a hypocrite telling him he can't have a tenner Grin

Easy day today. I have perused the Lakeland catalogue that was delivered and liked their stuff, they have certainly re-invented themselves!! However, I then went on the Wilko website and ordered a few bits WAY cheaper, delivered to store. A door mat, some cheap cutlery and we seem to be creeping into using our best stuff all the time and some Shake and Vac, I love Shake and Vac!

Going to do lamb in the slow cooker soon.

Picking up DD later from camp and tomorrow she is riding in a demonstration at the local stately home. We have free passes for all the family.

peppapissinpig · 31/07/2015 09:21

Collie, sorry things aren't brilliant at the mo.
Love the sound of a shower timer. DCs wallow all day and I have to shout incessantly to evict them. Did you get it from Amazon?

Pointlessfan · 31/07/2015 09:22

Collie I had a grumble at DH yesterday when I saw him washing a tea spoon under the tap for ages! I pointed out that we have enough tea spoons to be able to stick them in the dishwasher which goes on every evening instead of using all that extra metered water and he looked a bit sheepish, I suspect the teaspoon washing has been going on for a while!

girliefriend · 31/07/2015 09:37

Thanks guys makes me feel a bit better about feeling so crap! They can be a bit flakey I suppose, they both have babies under year and seem to find leaving the house without their husbands really stressful. Now dd is older maybe I have forgotten what it is like although I do know that when dd was a baby we travelled all over visiting friends. Hey ho, won't bother doing that again, they can come to me next time!

Lsd today although may pop to Morrisons later, seem to have gone through loads of food this week! Not sure why being at home would make sure a difference as normally I still make pack lunches for school/work. Budget is strictly £40 a week though

oliveobsessed · 31/07/2015 10:15

Just informed DP that on the food budget there will be some veggie meals on the table the look on his face was priceless. He is a definite meat man.
In other news homemade bread (well breadmaker) is going strong bit of a shock for the boy as he was attached to his warbies white bread and the bread maker only makes wholemeal or 50:50 Grin

£6 for parking

TheOnlyPink · 31/07/2015 10:41

Ah have missed loads!!

fuzz glad my thrown together dinner has inspired you! Where do you get frozen gf sausages? That would be so handy, I usually buy the aldi gf ones for 99c, but would love a packet that I can cook from frozen in an emergency!

ipsos have you thought about ceramic pans? I bought one in tk maxx a few months ago for €20, find it brilliant. Hardly need any oil, just use a few sprays, and a quick swish and its clean.

laska well done on the weight loss! I'm on the 5:2 too, well, usually. Only did 2 fast days the past two weeks. Usually love it, weight loss that actually saves money! Need to get my head back in the game.

whatabout I've started thinking about Christmas too! Have you had any luck with the happy land? Playmobil do something similar, playmobil 123, my boys preferred them to the happy land because the people move. My 8 yr old and 3.5 yr old still play with them. They have a school, house, fire station etc. Think I paid €30 for the house new. Worth a look if you can't get the happy land!

Low spend day here today. Bought myself a scone for 40c! Feeling so tired and worn out atm, saw my dad yesterday and he commented on it. Felt sorry for me and offered to take the boys to stay over at their house tomorrow night. Shocked he offered, I haven't been out since a wedding in November last year. We never have babysitters and I don't have any friends to go out with without dh. We haven't much to spend, but want to make the most of it. No idea what to do with ourselves! I'm so excited! Any ideas appreciated! Grin

TheOnlyPink · 31/07/2015 10:46

collie that sounds very appealing! Worth a chat about the pros and cons?

olive I have a meat loving husband too. I get round the veggie horror with things like bacon lardons and chorizo. Both are really cheap and give a bit of meaty flavour without the cost of "proper" meat. Might ease him into more veggie meals!

antimatter · 31/07/2015 10:54

I've downloaded spreadsheets from my bank and am in the process of categorising money going out.

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/07/2015 13:16

I'm just going out but I just wanted to say Collie That is NOT a reason for staying here, if you can put your family on a more successful path abroad and you want to then go.

SpottyTeacakes · 31/07/2015 15:01

My dh buys a can of coke every fucking day at 60p!!!! Ffs I can't change his mind though.

Collie just remember you're earning in NZD and spending in NZD. Food etc is really expensive out there. That said it's utterly gorgeous and you only live once so why not look into it further?

fuzzpig · 31/07/2015 15:14

Pink the GF sausages we get are the Tesco free from range. £2 for 8 I think. :)

Yikes, just seen that the credit card is about £100 more than I thought. So might be a bit more of a struggle to clear it all this month :( what's annoying is that it's mostly little bits here and there.

I'm determined to keep Christmas more modest this year. Lego, family board game, couple of books and DVDs, stocking and new jammies on Xmas eve... can I actually manage that? I really really love shopping for the DCs Blush I should really go through the hefty Amazon wishlists and get rid of all the fripperies. My parents and my grandma always prefer to give money and we now use that to pay for the activities they want to do, which everyone is happy with.

We've always resisted doing a joint present for DSCs too but they are all basically adults now (still living at home) - thinking maybe Prime membership as they've not been too impressed with Netflix, any thoughts? We will also get them a decent board game as they love playing, plus something much smaller each that is personal to them.

TheOnlyPink · 31/07/2015 16:31

spotty can you buy multipacks of coke on offer? My dh has a can a day too (it's non negotiable) and he looks out for offers. He will only buy when it's less than 50c a can, but often gets 18 packs for 33c a can.

fuzz tesco don't sell them here Angry amazon prime would be a brilliant gift, don't they get the kindle unlimited included in that?

My low spend day was blown. Ds 2 had an accident in the creche, fell off a chair and split the back of his head. He's absolutely fine tho, no stitches or anything. But cost €60. The creche will give it back to me tho! Bought a bottle of nurofen as I had none in, €7.99!

SpottyTeacakes · 31/07/2015 16:38

Shock At the cost of the nurofen!

No, I refuse to enable his coke habit. Grin It comes out of his own money, plus if we had a multipack he wouldn't be able to limit himself Hmm
