Spotty my parents took us to Petworth House the other week :) loved it!

Ooh 'eck. DH heard about an exhibition.

www.nationalgalleries.org/whatson/on-now-coming-soon/the-amazing-world-of-m-c-escher/about-the-exhibition-23618

It'd be crazily expensive though to try and get to/stay in Edinburgh by the end of next month, wouldn't it. If we'd heard about it earlier we may have arranged something. We live near Gatwick so it's one heck of a long way. But... Escher!!! DH's favourite, and I love his stuff too and we have never seen any 'live' so to speak.

And it seems to suggest that its content is basically from the Escher museum in the Hague... we plan to go to Amsterdam someday so we may as well leave it til then as apparently they're about an hour apart by train. I'm right, right? Tell me I'm right that it's pointless travelling up to Scotland.

(mind you, the size of the relapse I seem to be dealing with right now makes it a little easier to turn down the opportunity for travel - barely made it round Asda today so planning a trip is clearly stupid :()

nsd

TheseSoles · 01/08/2015 22:17

Thanks unescorted - given me lots to plan my food with Grin

Wheely - that sounds fab - really hoping our first attempt at camping is good because I would love to do things like that with them.

Today was a NSD, old bathroom and rubble has all been deposited at the recycling centre/tip. Much better!

fuzzpig · 01/08/2015 22:57

Whoa, Kielder looks amazing!

ItsAll · 01/08/2015 23:38

Frugal wins today:
I took back some clothes that I don't like
I bought a half-my-usual-price mascara, and I like it
I negotiated successful for some work that we're having done

Yay Smile

ItsAll · 01/08/2015 23:38

*successfully

Fuzz I live about 7 minutes down the road. It's great in the house I love it. All the turner art and amazing stories the tour guides have got. My dad used to play in the tunnels when he was little.

Should be Nsd today. Going to my mums after lunch for dinner.

Pointlessfan · 02/08/2015 06:40

Our plan for today is to take DD on her first ever train ride to go and see the owl installation in Birmingham city centre. DH has a train pass so we'll just have to pay £1 family & friends rate for me. I don't know why we don't do that more often at the weekend!
I've just written a list of admin things to do tomorrow while DD is at nursery. It is mainly looking to switch to cheaper things online eg. Broadband and house insurance. I need to make a claim though so I might wait until that is sorted.
I want to get DD one of those daily calendars where you change the day of the week and the weather. There's a lovely one on Amazon but it's £15.99. I was going to make one but all the cards will need laminating if it's going to last well plus I would need magnetic strips or Velcro so it would end up costing quite a bit anyway. Has anyone seen any cheaper ones?

Nsd yesterday. Have the biggest pile of ironing..it's more like a monster thats taken on its own life...thinking of tackling it whilst watching a rented movie and have to get sleeping bags and sleep Matt's today. Today will be a bit spendy.

thesesoles it's our first camping trip tooGrin we go mid week and sooo excited. We're are you going camping?

needastrongone · 02/08/2015 09:31

Sat mumsnetting but I am about to move and start on the mountain of washing and sorting that DD has brought back from camp.

Up at 5am yesterday to get to the event that DD was riding in after not getting back until 11pm from camp the night before. The event itself (Harewood Game Fair) was HUGE, and amazing, so the kids were lucky to have had the opportunity to ride there in front of the crowds. It did chuck it down every time they rode, so they were soaked to the skin and freezing and the riding conditions were tricky, but that's sometimes how it goes!

Not a great day money-wise, due to being disorganised and frankly knackered. Gave DD some money to go round the show with. Had a take-out for tea (home at 8.30pm). Did get a wax jacket for DD for £16 from a clearance rail and a fleece for a tenner, but that was to warm DD up as she was beyond freezing by then.

Roast chicken and trimming for tea. Summer seems to have disappeared round these parts.

TheseSoles · 02/08/2015 09:43

Wheely - we're just going to my parents garden, but it's a couple of counties away so lots of different things to do. Really nervous about how our toddler will manage so wanted a very safe trial run! We're going on Thursday too. Did you see that next weekend is the RSPB big sleepout? They have some really good activity ideas on their website.

SpottyTeacakes · 02/08/2015 09:52

That's rubbish need we've got good weather atm bit of cloud but going to be 23. The dc are playing up a bit I'm tempted to go to costa...but with three full weeks of the holidays left (I'm working the last week) should I be spending my holiday money on over priced coffee and cake?!)

wheelycote · 02/08/2015 09:58

thesesoles ooo didnt know that, thanks for the tip!! Will have a look to see what's on where well be

spotty Costa is always nice...what about taking them somewhere they can run off some of the playing up energy then a Costa as a treat after if your all still have enough energy to get thereBrew Biscuit Brew Biscuit

SpottyTeacakes · 02/08/2015 10:18

Luckily I've just realised how warm it is already and they're out in the garden!

SpottyTeacakes · 02/08/2015 12:03

I've just phoned up HSBC to chase up the application for our account and apparently we didn't meet their internal scoring system?! Wtf?! I'm really pissed off and might actually cry in a minute ffs. Our refit rating is good, we have never missed a credit card payment, bounced a check or not been able to pay a direct debit. We are rarely in our overdraft and we earn more than enough to put the required minimum payment in each month SadSad

We didn't fail on our credit score it was their internal points system

No we're not. Never have been. Apparently Lloyd and hsbc both do these internal scores. It's made me feel really shit dh thinks I'm being ridiculous (he's probably right Grin).

GrinThanks ipsos. Don't get me wrong, we do have debt, but we are only paying it off not adding to it. Wankers.

I was going to do my end of month budget but I think I'll leave it for today Grin
