wheely We have a stove with a grill that we don't use anymore as we've downsized. Not sure where you are or how much it would cost to send to you but for the cost of delivery you're welcome to it. I'll try to post a pic

We are inundated with flies and our house is like something from Amityville Horror Shock. We live on the edge of an arable farm and it's always a nightmare this time of year. Got an industrial electric fly killer but hasn't seemed to make much difference this year.

Hate preparing food as they settle on everything - drives me bat shit crazy.

Laska I've lost count of the times I've said what a supportive place this thread is, I love it. We all have our different back stories and different outlets for emotional times be it spending eating (me) or wine (me too!). Sounds like you've nurtured an independent young man and he'll thank you for it, at some point!
No spends today. Did a mini freezer/store cupboard stocktake today aiming to succeed in just buying extra fresh food and otherwise using up between now and the holiday. Pasta bake today using up cauliflower and various bits of cheese. Tomorrow will be an unidentifiable curry discovered in the freezer Grin.

girliefriend · 21/07/2015 20:55

just spent £21 on Amazon Blush got 3 dvds, a book and 2 packs of pens/pencils for my new colouring hobby!!

Dvds and book is for dd, hopefully will keep her occupied over the hols...

I worry about ant powder in the kitchen around food and also that my stupid cats would lick it or something Grin will try the ant discs again and also the washing up liquid tip - thanks Laska

I find the psychology of spending really interesting as well, if i know there is money in my account I am always tempted to spend it rather than save which is naughty (see above!!) I guess thats why I have a direct debit set up for my savings account, if the money isn't there I don't spend it!!

Laska42 · 21/07/2015 20:58

My bean bake is out of the oven! , couldnt resist having some.. its fab must stop now though or there will be consequencesShockGrin

babsmam · 21/07/2015 21:10

wheely there are loads of camping sales on in the shops now.

collie - - dont worry the cake will be fine with custard. that's what we say in ours with baking disasters.

Laska- im sure you haven't done as badly as you think [hug]] Ebay is a faff unless you get decent money.

Urgh insects

sorry if i missed anyone elses news trying to type and catch up reading too

went to the evil orange shop and spent £40. £3.80 on fitness which i am just undoing by eating the ice cream i bought the kids to save money at the ice cream van - so now i will be fat as well as skint Grin

Peppapissinpig · 21/07/2015 21:25

£70 on "shabby chic" kitchen stools which I'd forgotten I'd said I'd buy from a friend, too late to back out. £40 on cleaning paraphernalia for our swimming pool (just big above ground one, not swanky posh pool!), £60 Aldi

Pfffffft.....Angry

Evilwater · 21/07/2015 21:45

I'm back from hoilday, and what a amazing hoilday. I've spent loads, but it was all worth it.

So on Saturday back to normal scrape and save.

fuzzpig · 21/07/2015 21:59

Welcome back Evil - glad you had a lovely time!

I just did my shopping order - tomorrow is the last day with the £25, rather than £40, minimum spend... got it to £25.68 :o just enough to get by while we run the store cupboards/freezer down.

Must do a proper plan for restocking - also hoping to use my slow cooker at last as I can fit much more in there so more worth it in batch cooking terms IYSWIM. I'm assuming bolognese/tomato sauce would be pretty easy, but pondering leek and potato soup too?

Today I have another hospital appt so will need parking. Wish me luck, it's a first appt with a rheumatologist let's hope he says I'm fine. Then I need to get petrol.

Pointlessfan · 22/07/2015 06:53

Welcome back Evil. Wheely it is worth spending £5 on Go Outdoors membership if you need a lot of camping stuff as the discounts are massive. There was also a lot of camping stuff in The Range yesterday including stoves.
Spent £13.50 on meal out with friends last night. Hoping I can manage NSD today.

Learning to sow is on my bucket list. I had an old fashioned, stay at home mother who made all three of us useless by doing everything for us even when we were old enough to do it ourselves.

I need milk today, and possibly some petrol if DH didn't fill up yesterday.

Glad you enjoyed the holiday evil

collie I like the idea of sticking a teaspoon of pesto in the sausage bake.

needastrongone · 22/07/2015 07:32

good luck spotty. Sorry, missed the post as I started mine, then went and did some stuff!

ipsos My DC (15 and 14) have to do the following; rooms tidy (obviously), clean clothes away, strip and then re-make the beds, sort themselves for any nights away, DD does all aspects of the pony, both to iron, empty dishwasher, walk dogs, clear plates, vacuum, get bread and any thing else needed out of freezer WHEN NEEDED not when we have none, take out recycling, feed and water chickens, refill dogs bowls. I don't even ask about whether they have done their homework, because, if they haven't at this age, then it's their own lookout Grin

I am sure I had a lovely childhood but I was useless!!

Interesting tip, thanks! :)

AAAARGH so all 3 of our DCs' bikes (the two my parents bought for them and the hand me down one) are now broken. Brakes gone on 2, pedals on the third. DH is cobbling them together for a bit but really need to get the two bigger ones repaired properly. And then replace the pedal on the littlest so we can sell it (DS will move up to the middle sized) - much as I'd love to keep it for an as yet imaginary DC3 Blush we really need the cash (and space) and it's a really good bike so should fetch a bit.

Is fixing brakes something that's easy to do? We have a halfords and an Evans cycles nearby but don't want to be overcharged... No idea what it should cost! Does anyone know roughly please? :)
