£7 at the ice cream parlour after school. I didn't get myself anything despite not eating since breakfast. Saved a few pounds Wink

Just had to pay service charge and linen charge for the sun holiday I booked bastards that was £40. Back to having 30p in my account

574ejones · 17/07/2015 18:53

Another LSD £2.10 on milk and a sandwich!

School's out for summer!!! I may be a little bit tipsy having finished school a bit early and gone straight to the pub. Only had 2 pints (neither of which I paid for!) but had no lunch so they went straight to my head! DH has just gone out to get a take away.
Interesting to read about gas and electric bills. We are in 3 bed semi and we were paying £87 a month with EDF. Swapped a few months ago to Eon - only £80 a month but this week they emailed to say it would be going up to £118 - cheeky sods. One of my first jobs for the holidays is to switch or at least phone up and challenge it. I also need to sort out our broad band. We were in a very cheap deal with PlusNet but since that ran out we've been paying £29 a month, we don't even have a tv package for that!
ipsos - I return a lot more than I used to, partly because of online shopping but partly because I read the Kondo book and only want things I love. I'm also being more frugal obviously so I now quite often buy clothes, try them on again at home, realise I have nothing to go with them and return them. In the past I'd have just had a wardrobe full of unworn clothes! I'm also shopping in more expensive places as well as cheaper ones because I've realised that it is better to have one item I love and wear all the time even if it cost a lot than 5 things I don't wear that go to the charity shop after 12 months.
Anyway, off to sober up...

candybar I use a family calendar organiser from organised mum even if I'm the only one who looks at it sometimes. It has a tear off shopping list & things to do list which I use for naming out dinners for week & cross off as they're done.

It will be more useful when dd started after school activities. I had a diary but I found it very big.

Au pairs car was €80 to repair which was quite reasonable.

Pointlessfan · 17/07/2015 20:59

Yes I'm a teacher. The pub was full of teachers by 3pm today!

My dd has to go in for her last day on Monday - she is disgusted by that Grin

Hmm seem to be getting into this adult colouring thing, have added a few bits to my Amazon basket but not going to buy them yet Wink

Fluffy dd was very pleased with the lego set should keep her occupied for a day or two! She is a lego whizz - has done a fair bit of it already!

Passthecake30 · 17/07/2015 21:49

Busy thread ladies! I pay £100 per month for gas and electric, it's not too bad as we both work full time and the kids are out all day....

£11 Asda today, included £1.50 for an unnecessary choc cake but the kids were delighted! I've been getting Asda/Sainsburys top up cards via work, it saves 5% on the shop, not much, but I feel like I'm at least trying.... Plus I so wanted a takeaway as felt lazy but stuck to freezer fish and chips, unlike fluffy I can't feed us for £7??!

My kids break up next Wed too, lucky them, shame I still have to work. I've got their school uniforms apart from dd's shoes, she is very heavy on her soles but has very slim feet, I'm tempted to try kickers but not sure if they'll be slim enough (or girly enough) for her?

Off to Peppa Pig World in a couple of weeks, has anyone ever snuck a takeaway pizza into a hotel like holiday inn?

Plus I want to get a pre loaded card with Euros - any suggestions appreciated....

Pointlessfan · 17/07/2015 21:59

I normally sleep for the first week and it takes a while to switch off from school. This year is different though as first school holiday with DD so I doubt I'll do much resting but I have switched off already!

Pass travelex are good.

Hotels should let you order take away to the room and if they're a good hotel they will even bring you some cutlery Grin

babsmam · 18/07/2015 07:17

Aiming for a lsd week in the run up to holiday away. Shouldn't need food except packed lunch stuff. Aiming to run cupboards and freezer down.

Football today If DS is up for it. Library this afternoon, park or baking day tomorrow depending on weather, park Monday with school mums and a pals house for coffee. At work Tuesday onwards and childcare already paid

fuzzpig · 18/07/2015 08:00

Does anyone know good companies that do funeral flowers please? DH's sisters can't attend their grandmother's funeral so they are hoping to send flowers.

I'm leaving early for work today so I can pay in the cheque and also the pot of change (been saving anything over the nearest £ so a fair amount of 20ps etc)... and take the Christmas present back that I bought Blush. Can probably get that cheaper online anyhow.

We've been running our freezer and store cupboards down too babs - but just need to be organised enough to build them up again in a sensible way! It seems like every time I say I'll be organised about what I order, I end up giving up and just order any old thing and we have yet another week of not really knowing what food we have!

Happy holidays to those who are on them! We kind of have another week, as there are a couple of home ed activities on thurs/fri.

I've just remembered we promised DD the neighbour could stay round tonight and we are taking them for a meal - must get clubcard vouchers printed. It has to be this weekend as the neighbours are moving - DD sad to see her friend go but we are happy they're going as the mum is dealing, so dodgy people going in and out all the damn time. Trying not to worry about who will move in next!

Mamatemba · 18/07/2015 08:01

Hi all, can I join in? Finding you all quite inspiring! Am starting a new chapter in my life with my boy having just left school. Single mum, have been for years, working demanding full-time job (as you do) to keep things afloat. Really can't complain about anything but am increasingly hankering for a life that is more nourishing for my poor withering soul! I know that likely means giving up on the security of current pingers Though so my challenge is to prove to myself that I can live more frugally for a few months so that I can take that big step. You seem like just the people to help!

babsmam · 18/07/2015 08:06

I do exactly that fuzz with the food.
Welcome mama. Yes we can help you we are all here for different reasons but are very supportive.

Pointlessfan · 18/07/2015 08:08

Thanks Ipsos and welcome mama.
For funeral flowers we've just used local florists. If you want them delivered it is much cheaper to find a florist local to the recipient and phone up to order them rather than using interflora unless there are deals on Quidco etc. Sorry to hear about the funeral.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/07/2015 08:25

Welcome mama

Food shopping being delivered this morning £58

Need to collect new duvet set from waitrose will need to pay to park but it won't be much.
