£2.54 on milk and 2nd class stamp (organised enough for once to post friend's birthday card off in time Grin)

Anyone have any suggestions on where I can buy decent but dirt cheap men's cuff links ?

NK5BM3 · 08/06/2015 19:10

Nsd! Worked from home today and managed to meet the work deadline. And had some time spare so made a roast dinner! (No I am be usually this mad... Dh bought a chicken on the weekend but because we had the impromptu BBQ we didn't do roast. And the damn chicken needed eating or at least cooking. And if I delayed it I would have tossed out the chicken. Which wouldn't have been too frugal...! Grin

I have a lot of food though. Not sure what's going to happen. Not sure I can freeze everything.

I'm bringing roast chicken dinner to work tomorrow. With Yorkshire pudding, roasties and gravy too!

Welcome pav

£16 top up shop today. No other spends. For those wanting storage jars, definitely worth finding a friend who drinks Douwe Egberts, the jars really are fab

Pointlessfan · 08/06/2015 19:29

Peppa what about a menswear shop that does cheap suits eg. Burtons - I bet they'd do cheap cuff links.

Peppapissinpig · 08/06/2015 19:33

Thanks Pointless - didn't realise Burton's still existed ??

Unescorted · 08/06/2015 19:38

Peppa try charity shops if you have time or an "Art Centre" - you know the ones where you have small workshops.

Pointless it is a shame about the coffee in the jars....

NK mid week roasts taste better! and the quality of your lunches goes up for the rest of the week.

Why is public transport so expensive? I have spent 8.20 on buses and trains today .... 2 bus journeys of less than 3 miles and a train journey of 1 stop. Crazy, unless the carpark and transport people are the same.

LSD £1.40 on car parking and £3.20 on 24 meringue nests (on offer) had tea at friends house which was lovely, she has a massive garden and dd bounced away on the trampoline for 2 hours!!

May go for a swim tomos, my clothes are feeling very tight Sad so feeling the need to do some exercise!!

Passthecake30 · 08/06/2015 21:01

£40 Gap shorts and trousers (might go back) and £8 beavers activity day.

Now I'm not commuting I've taken my prepaid car park pass back and getting a £50 refund. By cheque. Grrrr. Why not bank transfer...

Pointlessfan · 08/06/2015 21:04

Hmmm come to think of it I'm not sure Burtons still exists either! Put a wanted post on Freecycle, somebody must have some they don't use!

NSD today and saturday, did okay yesterday on stationery for a project for DD1 and food. Random buy was a kids basketball, 5.50. DH plays so a useful thing in a way?!

We spend loads on groceries it's the flipping cats (love them really) on which note, does anyone cut their cats claws themselves - ours won't scratch anymore (not even the furniture!) so having to take them back to the vet every few months to have a vet nurse do it.

Hi pavonian!

TheseSoles · 08/06/2015 21:17

Mrs, I follow Woolly Hugs on fb - they are so beautiful and lovely. I am aiming to do a square but not quite got the skills yet.

Fluffycloudland77 · 08/06/2015 21:21

lilacclery · 08/06/2015 23:07

Laska I missed you!

Life has been hectic here too.

Just did my figures & priced my next car....which I'll be buying in Feb 2020, and I'm on track with my current loan repayment & solid savings to buy it with a teeny loan which can be repaid in 6 months, maybe I'll find a 0% credit card for that!!

Will update my budget woes later.
May need a boundary wall budget plan by tomorrow if my loan is approved.

Tomorrow is my last payment to dds playschool Grin

AuditAngel · 09/06/2015 06:28

welcome Pavonia

Need I hope you enjoy the Thai curry as much as I did!

We have 2 dogs, Belgian Shepherds. I'm not really a dog person (cat currently asleep on my knee) feeding them is quite frugal. They all (cat included) eat leftovers. The cat also eats pouches for breakfast, biscuits and chicken breast for dinner (these are normally ordered from the restaurant's butcher so DH pays). The dogs usually eat Tesco value fog mix and whatever off cuts we are given. When the family restaurant cleans the meat, they bag up the waste (so lamb shoulder blades, the leg joints, fatty bits of meat, the very tips of chicken wings, chicken carcass) all raw, freeze it, and my dogs eat it. We are actually helping the restaurant out as they would have to pay for disposal of th meat waste! Sometimes we have to buy something to top up the meat, but rarely.

Yesterday £2.69 on a sausage roll and bottle of water on the way back from a meeting, then a one way travel card to go to the office quiz in London. Not sure if I can reclaim this or not. Think it was about £6.

Pavonia · 09/06/2015 10:07

Yesterday £31.04 in Sainsbury's, no other spending.

Am investigating switching DD's phone to GiffGaff as her contract has just ended which could reduce cost from £10 to £5 per month.

Am trying to book myself a haircut as I haven't had it cut since November.

Pavonia · 09/06/2015 10:11

Update: Haircut booked, 20% off on Tuesdays so will be £48 - can I count that as a frugal win?

girliefriend · 09/06/2015 10:46

Hello laska i missed you as well!!

Right have been going through my finances (again!) Realised that Scottish Power hadn't taken a payment for June so rang them to find out why, they said it was because I had changed tariff and they hadn't got themselves organised for it to start in June. As I am in debit I agreed to a one off payment of £89 so hopefully can get back into Credit (and then change suppliers Wink )

Means I have £166 to last till the end of the month which I thought might be o.kay until I realised the childminder hasn't cashed her cheque yet which is £41 so actually £125 (so £41 a week to live on )

Is just about doable though as long as nothing else crops up.

I have my car tax at the end of the month £180 Shock but have got savings I can use for that. July likely to be rubbish as well due to MOT and car service, that came to over £300 last year

Going to go for a swim today which I think is £4 and may get a few bits in Wilkos, need toothpaste etc.

sportinguista · 09/06/2015 11:59

So a spendy Saturday as out for coffee with a friend and DS so spent £9.80 on that then around £15 in various shops mostly food bits.

NSD Sunday, then £9.80 in Aldi on bits and around £8 in Asda and £3.50 in Tesco today on bits for school trip tomorrow as am going with DS as a helper. I shall be absolutely knackered after dealing with 30 screaming little people on a beach but it will be brilliant seeing them all enjoying themselves.

Yes summer is way more expensive here too, more BBQ to buy for so tend to buy lots of fish which costs more. We do tend to end up having burgers a lot more and making pizza which are cheaper meals. I am going to look for some nice summer pastas as well. My project of growing salad in the garden is going well and we are now able to harvest salad leaves from the garden. Tomatos and courgettes are still around a month away though.
