I so need to do this month after last months puppies and everything to go with them!

CremeEggThief · 02/05/2015 18:10

I had the most amazing lunch out at the Sausage Emporium. If any of you live near or in Newcastle, check it out. I had 2 veggie sausages, made with beetroot, puy lentils and mushrooms, in a 10 inch brioche roll, with fried onions. gherkins, jalapenos and brie and a proper side salad, with a Fentiman's lemonade. £11.75.

Also £13.98 in TK Maxx, £3.95 in Pret and £7.70 bus fares.

Pointlessfan · 02/05/2015 19:27

Those sausages sound lovely, creme is that a chain?
Bit of a rubbish day today. DD is poorly. Phoned 111 and they sent us to OOH so that was the morning and £2.75 on parking gone.
Then I spent £76 on a big shop in Asda. I did get some good bargains but couldn't resist new season strawberries and asparagus and after a crap morning I had a weak moment and bought a posh ready made pudding which was expensive. Going to eat it shortly but think I just heard retching from upstairs...

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/05/2015 19:53

maybe tomorrow will be better?.

That meal sounds delicious creme.

girliefriend · 02/05/2015 20:43

Oh dear pointless hope your dd is o.kay.

Today has been a funny one really, dd had a diving lesson that ended in tears as her ears started to hurt Sad she wears ear plugs but they clearly didn't work with all that diving under. Plus horse riding meant she was totally knackered for the rest of the day.

Having sorted my meal plan my mum turned up unexpectedly so had a quick rethink and had the pest pasta tonight.

Laska that sounds really annoying, my mum took dd on holiday to your island last year and they loved it but she did say at times it was a bit like going back in time!! Last summer on one of the hottest days of the year I took dd to Lyme for the day (about 45 mins from us) and was shocked that all the shops and cafes still shut up shop at 5pm, despite their being tons of tourists milling about Confused On the continent they are much better at the tourist thing!!

girliefriend · 02/05/2015 20:44

pest pasta Grin umm that should be pesto pasta!! Pest pasta would not be tasty at all!!

Passthecake30 · 02/05/2015 21:04

Spendy day....ds needed bits for his musical theatre class, totalling £54 (on top of something like £182 last week Shock)

£24 swimming lesson, included certificate and badge for dd for getting through the level - I think it is mean that we have to pay for that seeing as it only happens once a year or something!

£3 tescos on melon and FREE £3.50 Tesco Orchard ice cream Smile

Need to start being frugal but the kids just keep on growing and growing....

Brokentopieces · 02/05/2015 22:39

Another NSD, I need a few more!

AdoraBell · 02/05/2015 23:25

NSD. Hope your DD recovers quickly Pass also hope you enjoy that expensive desert, sometimes it just has to be done.

frazzled74 · 02/05/2015 23:42

I have spent £20 on veg box delivery, £20 in butchers, £20 on bread, mik, biscuits, squash and a few store cupboard ingredients.
Meal plan-
Roast chicken
Chicken & mushroom pasta
Fish, cous cous,, roast veg
Spaghetti bolognaise
Turkey curry and rice
Sausage, mash and cabbage
Spanish omelette and salad

Lunches are sandwich, piece of fruit, crisps and homemade flapjack
Snacks are fruit/ bread and butter/ biscuits
I have £20 left out of £80 weekly budget .

Pointlessfan · 03/05/2015 06:03

Pest pasta sounds like a super-frugal recipe made out of insects!!!
DD seems much brighter today. DH and I take it in turns to get up with her/have a lie in at the weekend. She always sleeps until about 6.30 on his day and wakes up at 5.30 on mine - how does she know???
Anyway, I was going to post my meal plan:
Last night made Jack Monroe's carrot and cumin burger and DD made himself beef burgers and we both had extras for the freezer. The veggie ones were delicious and very cheap and easy.
Having my treat asparagus with homemade bread for lunch and veggie spag bol for tea (more batch cooking)
Felafel wraps tomorrow.
Tues - pasta with peppers, tomato and cream cheese sauce.
Wed - sweet potato and peanut curry from the freezer.
Thurs - lasagne and wedges
Friday. - saag panir, samosas and naan bread.
Typing all that has made me hungry!
No plans for today so should be NSD.

Pointlessfan · 03/05/2015 06:05

DH not DD. I don't think she's big enough to make burgers just yet although I'm sure she'd enjoy all the mess!

Unescorted · 03/05/2015 06:16

pointless - I thought pest pasta was the meal that you did when unexpected guests turn up Grin

Had a NSD yesterday and looking at the weather today will be one as well - I don't even want to spend time outdoors.

My Sausage maker turns up next week (birthday present) so I will be checking out the Sausage Emporium for ideas. A very fortuitious post there creme thanks.

Unescorted · 03/05/2015 06:18

Start them early..... Wink

Pointlessfan · 03/05/2015 06:39

Grin at pest pasta for uninvited guests!!!

Unescorted · 03/05/2015 06:51

Just don't call it that in her hearing.

babsmam · 03/05/2015 07:08

Hope your dd stays on the mend pass.

I feel a trip to the discovery museum coming on with maybe a detour to the sausage emporium. Mmm. Just need to find a full day to get to the toon now.
Grin pest past for uninvited guests. Like it.
Taking kids to an indoor adventure place today and need to go to sainsbury. Will be spendy

LaChatte · 03/05/2015 08:59

We made those bean burgers last night too Pointless , I discovered you don't even need to put them in a bun, you can just wrap them in a lettuce leaf (preferably something really crunchy like Iceberg).

DH made donuts as SIL & family are coming over for the first time in ages since I stood up at a big family meal and insulted everyone because they were being racist twunts . I'm a little stressed about it. Although if I carry on feeling as I do right now, I won't be leaving my bed all day, my throat is on fire, my eyes are streaming and I think my head might just explode. I'm guessing it's hey fever.

Unescorted · 03/05/2015 09:25

LaChatte normally I am jealous of your sunshine. Pissing rain here means my hayfever has subsided. Hope you feel better soon & it isn't too stressful.

I need to move my sorry arse - I have had a morning of sitting on t'internet and drinking coffee. Must make bread before going to my parents for lunch.

Pointlessfan · 03/05/2015 09:43

Lachatte hope you feel better soon and it goes ok with your relatives today.
I want a donut now!
I bet those burgers are lovely wrapped in lettuce. I had them in buns with some tomato and chilli chutney and they were delish!

LaChatte · 03/05/2015 10:50

Thank you! I've taken an antihistamine tablet so I'm feeling a little less wretched. I have to get up as our electricity goes onto cheap rate at 12:00 and I want to get a load of washing on, oh the glamour of it all! I also have a shit load of work to do for tomorrow but am reaaaaaally not motivated. Poor me Grin

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 03/05/2015 11:04

Can't properly meal plan until veg box arrives tomorrow, but it will prob be:

Mon: pasta, asparagus, peas + pesto with tomato basil salad
Tues: Freezer risotto + salad
Weds: Tacos (peppers and onions, refried beans, salsa, lettuce etc.)
Thurs: Butternut squash and hazelnut salad with crusty bread
Fri: veggie chilli, rice

Spent a bloody fortune on fruit and veg for the nutribullet - I better be Audrey Hepburn sized by next week Grin

Trying a spinach, mango, avocado and goji berry one later.

Yesterday had kale, strawberry, spirulina, bee pollen (!!), almond milk which was nice but a bit bland.

ItalianWiking84 · 03/05/2015 11:24

Should be nsd, friend and her ds been visiting and now need to do cleaning while dd sleeps... Have tomato sauce on the pan

sportinguista · 03/05/2015 13:11

So Friday was £113 for a months basics shopping in Aldi we still have loads left from last month too.

Business is on the up and a recruiter is putting me in for the most amazing job which means I can work from home full time. It would be amazing to get it as literally we would have the flexibility to manage childcare etc but with a paid salary!

Yesterday was Spendy, £25 on sunglasses I needed to replace, £2 for small toy for DS and £15 for some extra beer and wine. DH treated us to meal out. NSD today except for some milk.

Tomorrow should be NSD as we hopefully will just have lazy day in garden.

Passthecake30 · 03/05/2015 13:13

Yummmm tacos peonies. Do uou manage to do them frugally?

Will be a nsd as ds has a cold and feeling sorry for himself so will stay in, hopefully it'll go before school on tues if we spoil him??!
