When we do tex-mex we never buy any of the just add meat packs. Tortillas are pretty easy to make (you can also freeze them really well), and we bulk out the filling with a massive tin of kidney beans, a big jar of tomato juice or tinned tomatoes depending on which is cheaper and some onions and red peppers (usually frozen as they work out cheaper per kg), so for example we get about 16 wraps from two chicken fillets (seriously). We fill them with lots of lettuce, tomatoes and grated cheese as well. As for the spices, it's just a shed load of cumin, a little coriander and some paprika.

But today ive made a roast and im going to make stew with the potatoes veg ect that I didnt cook. For tommorow.

babsmam · 03/05/2015 15:39

Eeek. £103 between sainsbury and soft play. That should be it for the week though. Maybe a couple of bits of fruit Thursday ish but shouldn't really need to. All party present bought.

babsmam · 03/05/2015 15:40

Not been very frugal today in the end which is naughty as could have been a nsd in theory.

Took some daps back to Sainsburys and dd spotted some trousers she liked so swapped them, except the trousers were £5 more than the daps.

Then as a treat took dd to the local arcades some how managed to quite easily spend £8 without even trying!! Although tbf to dd £3 of that was on cookies as I was hungry Blush

Oh well have done my millage today so will make sure i take that in on Tues.

Tomos should be frugal, was thinking of taking dd to the kids club at the cinema (£2.50 a ticket) and then the park in the afternoon.

She is currently on the sofa saying she feels sick and dizzy so that may change though........

You've done brilliantly Miele, that's a fantastic result.

Huge spendy day. Am realising I'm doing this every weekend. Boo

Went to the outlet store and dh spent £90 on 4 tm Lewin shirts. To be fair, he's not shopped in 2 years or more for shirts... So. I spent £68 at phase 8 for a black tie dress and a pair of shoes. Amazing price. And I really like them too. I've been wearing the same black tie dress for the last 2 events and I have another next Monday which I will try this dress out at. Slight worry that it's not a long dress but it's over my knees. I will try and link it if I can find it.

And £30 at wagamamas for lunch and £30 at gap for shorts for ds, dress for dd and work shorts for me. Argh.

Laska42 · 03/05/2015 17:53

Thats great miele I did try penny sweeping to start with but kind of forgot about it .. i must do it again..

But one thing i have been doing is my £2 coin pig..each time i get one ive been piggy banking it , Dh has been joining in and we now have £72 in there since end January!!

so today , .. £8.40 in garden centre on Round up and some sweetcorn, bean and courgette seeds

Then £35. 85 in the co op .
However £15 of that was on Wine and £7.50 on 3 pkts of my favourite coffee on offer.. (so well have coffee enough for the month but not wine, Ahem )

Dh gave me £30 (i just managed to spend more of course )

We' ve been in the garden cutting and shredding bay tree and hedge cuttings so feeling virtuous and tired so its G&T time now I think Grin

Am cooking a roast chicken with fennel lemon and herbs this evening .. out of yesterdays Guardian cook feature .its smelling great looking forward to it ..followed by a nice night in watching Vera i think

girlie yes it can be a bit like going back in time here , but I do love living here.. the most silly thing about yesterdays ws that the cafe is open all winter, and it just seems so daft that they didnt manage to gear up for the bank holiday and so have lost out on one of their weekend days when they could have done really well .. , Ah well it wont stop us going back.. its a lovely place over looking the sea..

Star for Miele

Another NSD Grin I'm liking this weekend. Will catch up properly later.

misstiredbuthappy · 03/05/2015 18:09

Does anybody else spend money when they are bored ? Im terrible for not wanting to stay in bored. So I just pop out and waste money Grin im really trying to stop this though.

ItalianWiking84 · 03/05/2015 18:10

My bank have a saving option where everytime you use your card you can at the same time transfer an amount to your saving, you choose the amount yourself... Both me and do uses that one, so when he uses his card it goes on dd s saving and my card goes to our main saving.

Well done, Miele.

Fab dress, NK.

Glad so many of you liked hearing about Sausage Emporium yesterday. I am pretty sure it's an independent, but there are similar places elsewhere, such as the Clifton Sausage Company in Bristol. Babsmam, it's closed on Sundays, for future reference.

NSD.

NK5BM3 · 03/05/2015 18:55

Thanks guys!! Really appreciate it. It's not floor length but hopefully the material of the dress, and my new high heels will make it look black tie ish. Plus it's in May. Will report back.
Smile

prettymess · 03/05/2015 18:59

I spent over half our weekly grocery budget already. £28 left. I should be okay, but it's hard.

Unescorted · 03/05/2015 19:00

Miele I am that person who drives in the slow lane being sucked along by a lorry & I feel cheated if I have to brake.

Pointlessfan · 03/05/2015 19:18

NSD mainly because DD was still poorly. We hadn't planned to go out anyway but probably would have gone out for a coffee or something if she'd been ill.
She was violently sick in the car earlier on the way to a friend's house so we haven't felt much like going in the car anywhere, and in fact can't until the car seat dries out. Why are they designed with so many little crevices for vomit to get stuck in?
Have had a productive afternoon cleaning and making a big pot of spag bol.
I've got an online savings account for coin sweeping and also any money I get from Quidco, Music Magpie etc. I've put about £400 in it this year so far - going to use it for summer hols and Xmas. I think of it as a virtual loose change tin!
