Dh is a builder Grin even if he wasn't our nearest train station is a twenty minute drive with a five year waiting list for parking. My budget is £30 a week. We were easily using it all but the reduction in fuel prices has saved us a lot. Also dh is working a bit closer now.

Unescorted · 14/02/2015 18:54

Not easy to carry tools on a train.... and building sites tend to be out in the back end of nowhere. It wasn't my best suggestion Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 14/02/2015 18:55

I'll get him a bike with a little trailer Grin

Unescorted · 14/02/2015 18:55

PS if he is working on a site that HAS to be finished by 31st March.... I am sorry.

SpottyTeacakes · 14/02/2015 19:09

Luckily not. It's a tiny company, just three employed, but always busy thankfully.

TeWiSavesTheDay · 14/02/2015 19:33

Oh, I forgot petrol - £54.75 hopefully that will last a while. We don't drive much.

fuzzpig · 14/02/2015 21:12

14/2
£2.49 gluten free bread

DH also ordered a few DVDs, I'll put them on tomorrow's instead when he remembers how much they were. It comes out of his pocket money anyway but still like to write it all down here!

I am having to seriously exercise my frugal muscles here. Determined not to fall into the "we are home schooling, so we must buy lots of supplies" trap! :o

Wasn't someone looking for a good broadband deal?.

SpottyTeacakes · 15/02/2015 07:00

Should be Nsd today not going anywhere. Ds had us up at 4:45 SadBrew

babsmam · 15/02/2015 07:06

Was a Nsd yesterday until we got take out for tea. £20.
Lsd today as taking dd and DS to an indoor skate park.

Need to get some food too but no idea when I will get there as dh working.

fuzzpig · 15/02/2015 08:13

Thanks for the broadband link fluffy!

lilacclery · 15/02/2015 08:23

€25 on diesel weekly expense to be expected! €30 on mineral foundation, this will last me 12 months so isn't a big expense. €7 on swimming pool with ds 15 months while his sister had her lesson. €7.33 on weekly newspaper, 4litres milk, 6 mini cornettos for children's sleepover & some chocolate for ne as dh was working late.

Ds has slept two full nights this weekend, why can't he do it when I'm working Grin

Butchers €34.50 including steaks for valentines dinner which we'll be having tonight instead!

Groceries going to get a Tesco delivery Tuesday

SpottyTeacakes · 15/02/2015 08:58

I need to do a balance transfer on my credit card but no one will give me one with a big enough limit BlushSad can I include child benefit and tax credits in my annual income?

blueteapot · 15/02/2015 09:48

4.45am spotty! How old is he? Lilac is mineral foundation good? Tempted to try it but Ive only just got my 'new' No7 bottle when the pump stopped working recently...

Up and down overnight with DD although she slept a 5 hr stretch so cant complain :) the two of us came down at 7.30 or so and got all my bits and pieces done before DS got up so feeling organised today lol. Hes now up bathed and having brekkie :D letting OH lie on hes had a sore head all weekend, we put off our valentines meal last night too, going to have it later.

Spent £68 at MrT yesterday, £12.45 at butchers and £5 at local supermarket on a few special offers. All shopped for with a list so happy with that. DD now bottle fed so that always adds a fair bit to the total unfortunately! Trying out the shopitize app, 5.85 cashback there which is great (4p popcorn anyone and free haribo!) Had a £1 off fabric softener voucher too. Was going to use my £1 voucher off non-bio but its reduced from tomorrow so held onto it for now (both bounty pack).

Also lifted OHs drycleaning £ 9.95 which negates all those savings lol.

Happy sunday everyone xx

SpottyTeacakes · 15/02/2015 09:58

He's 2.3 he shares a room with dd though so we have to quickly get him up so he doesn't wake her.

blueteapot · 15/02/2015 10:30

Aw right, DS has just turned two but if he wakes I can go in and settle him back down... he and DD will be sharing though in due course so Im sure it'll be a similar story :/

girliefriend · 15/02/2015 11:05

Hi all, dds birthday sleepover party survived - just Grin am knackered though, they didn't go to sleep till about 11.30pm last night and then up at 7.30am this morning Shock my dd was the main culprit for keeping all the girls awake and generally being a PITA (due to way too any Haribo and excitement.) Have said no more sleepovers for the foreseeable future Wink

One of her friends gave her £5 cash and a really nice outfit from Next Shock must have cost at least £20. So generous, makes me feel really tight as I put a £5 budget on any of dds friends bday presents!!

Today is going to be a quiet day, dd has a swimming lesson later but otherwise no plans.

Oh going to share the cake I made for dds party as am so proud of it Grin

bantamgirl · 15/02/2015 12:37

spotty - is this link any good? through it I found that Nationwide were likely to accept me. Not sure about the income. It should be a link to a soft search to see if you're likely to be accepted. creditcards.moneysavingexpert.com/?balance-transfer

bantamgirl · 15/02/2015 12:38

girlie - well done you, it looks great! I hope there is some leftover for me :-)

SpottyTeacakes · 15/02/2015 12:41

Thanks bantam it recommends the one I just got turned down for. Don't really want to apply for any others as it all goes on my credit report, which was excellent Hmm

brittanyfairies · 15/02/2015 13:11

Another NSD for me today. Although after reading the thread this morning about the Davinia fitness DVD I was tempted to buy it, but it's Frugal February and I've said no internet spending at all this month, and I really need to stick to it.

Bit of good news the lady buying my old woodburning stove came today so I've made 50 euros for my jar. So just by saving 2 euros a day and selling some bits and bobs from around the house that I'll never use again, I've managed to save 95 euros in the jar already - that's just 15 days. I'm really, really pleased - that's 10% of my monthly income and it's only the 15th of the month.

I'm prowling the house now looking for more crap useful stuff to sell.

bootygirl · 15/02/2015 13:31

Ladies I have gone to pot on the groceries this month again! I was hoping to spend no more than €600. Still high but should be completely doable. Thing is already €390 ??

So I got lots in the freezer off top of my head enough meat and fish for the next two weeks. So that's €210 on top ups & toiletries. I will easily do this??

It's midterm all week for ds1 & ds2 is off thus&friday. So I ll have to be firm with what we spend as have to start watching the incidental spending.

In awe of you guys tracking everything so closely.

Lsd have to bring ds2 for haircut €9.

bootygirl · 15/02/2015 13:33

So today is the first day that I will track everything we spend for one month. To see were we can save.

Ememem84 · 15/02/2015 14:48

so far today NSD. Was supposed to get milk, and coconut milk, but stopped into parents on way to the shops, and mum had both. so let me have them. She will benefit later as they're coming to ours for dinner. tonight we are serving "traditional" sunday fayre of.... thai red chicken & butternut curry. and rice.

yum.

Ememem84 · 15/02/2015 14:50

and only 5 days until payday. our joint account is down to...£2.35. and my account is sitting at £56.

we should only need to buy milk and eggs. So hopefully will have enough for the both.

(We do have a £200 overdraft facility on the joint account, but I feel like a failure using it...!)
