NK5 he was quite frail. He also had a bone marrow condition that meant he needed transfusions, and he had lung cancer, but in a very non-aggressive form. We were certainly not expecting this. I suspect today will be quite expensive as going to see the funeral directors.

Tomorrow will not be a NSD, a friend is moving to Scotland, and we are having a surprise drinks party.

AuditAngel · 20/01/2015 09:55

Thanks for the kind words everyone.

NK5BM3 · 20/01/2015 10:15

Audit - oh it's horrid when it's unexpected. Hang in there...our thoughts are with you. Thanks

So, it's snowing now....! Cold.

NK5BM3 · 20/01/2015 10:18

And unfortunately not an NSD as I've just ordered £50 worth of acid peel for my face. It has worked a treat and I'm determined to sort my face out!!

Taytocrisps · 20/01/2015 10:25

Very sorry to hear your sad news Audit. Flowers

Encyclo · 20/01/2015 10:40

Best of luck at the funeral directors Audit we'll all be thinking of you Flowers

Need to do a top up shop this evening, I have a spend €25 get a fiver off voucher for one of the Irish supermarkets so I think I'll head there and get some extra bits.

Loving my Laundry Gloop btw. It's fab, and a great all purpose cleaner. I'm using it on everything

Have a great day frugaliers!

girliefriend · 20/01/2015 11:24

Sorry to hear you news audit Flowers hope it goes okay at the funeral directors.

So I am about to drag myself out from under the blanket on the sofa and go out, need to post a parcel to a friend who has had a baby and may go to Morrisons as am low on food.

lilacclery · 20/01/2015 12:40

Of course you can join us sockmatcher the more the merrier. If you've a trick for your title you might share too because it's a chronic fail in our house!

encyclo I thought a lot of the 2 for x€ on bread products were great value there when I was there on Sat, I don't normally shop in Dunnes. Also I love that you can buy FAGE 0% Total Greek Yogurt there and it's often on offer at €3 per pot, this is my go to snack with some nuts and chopped fruit.

Must pick up ds's cup at boots and that's so close to holland & barrett I'll go there for dandelion tea €2.70

Dd's bum is sore because of not wiping correctly, thinking I might get toilet wipes for her to make sure she cleans right, tried a few before and they stung her too. My other idea is to let her use cheeky wipes with some spray made up with coconut oil and water, I just have visions of her putting them down the loo by mistake!!

girliefriend · 20/01/2015 12:41

£3 posting a parcel (thought that was quite good given that it was a fair size and that was 1st class)

£25 on food in the co-op

lilacclery · 20/01/2015 12:43

In the spirit of this thread these will be picked up in boots and will use advantage club points to pay for them!! Anyone any idea which ones are mildest?

sockmatcher · 20/01/2015 12:50

Thanks for the welcome lilacclery.

No real tips except getting the children to play snap with the socks!

We normally get Andrex wipes in 99p store or poundland. Expect they will be more expensive in boots.

Anyone tips for keeping the heat in? I've left the upstairs curtains drawn last two days and thermal door curtain across front door. Its gone really cold recently.

Hoping for a NSD too. Unless you count the recovery truck coming. ... I'm paying for it tomorrow with garage bill.

Passthecake30 · 20/01/2015 13:07

Flowersaudit so so sorry for your loss, what a shock. Take care of yourself.

£42 asda delivery that included 100 dw tabs for £10.

I get the wet toilet wipes for £1 in asda. Andrex I think.

Iamnotanugget · 20/01/2015 13:21

Flowers so sorry for your loss audit

£5.43 on playgroup and fruit. I did get a load delivered but it's all been eaten. Still I suppose it's better than crisps and chocolate.

Hello sockmatcher, I don't have any advice on keeping warm other than the usual layers and more layers!

encyclo you made me Grin where is Barry Scott now?

Job interview went well won't be able to do it though as no childcare

needastrongone · 20/01/2015 15:00

Welcome - sockmatcher Love the name!!

That's a shame spotty. Is there no chance of negotiation with the employer re childcare?

audit Thinking of you still.

NSD. I forgot that I bought feed and linseed oil for the pony yesterday, £20.

I am near to posting my 'pots' as it's near pay day (Friday). Much helped by Dry January, lack of big spends this month, January frugal determination and not having been out much we have done really well. It will not happen each month, so I am pleased.

I will wait until Friday to post Smile

SpottyTeacakes · 20/01/2015 15:03

They're fairly flexible but the childcare options round here are literally zero.

Forgot my spends

£1.60 Parking

lilacclery · 20/01/2015 15:11

Andrex on offer in boots €1.49 the boots own brand are €1.39 so I guess the offer is a good one. Will try them.

I find to keep heat in you need to open blinds or curtains during the day to let light in to warm the place and then close in early evening to keep it in

lilacclery · 20/01/2015 15:53

Dh paid me back €35 he owed me from a few weeks ago so my bank balance currently is €35.47. Just got my payslip for this week €545.36 - transfer to joint account €400 leaves me €145.36 + €35.47 = €180.83 €111 for direct debits due from my account = €69.83 €35 transfer to my save & borrow fund leaves €34.83 this will cover diesel €20 and leave €14.83 to put towards credit card bill due next week. Last week's diesel money came from my self employed income which I'm aiming every week to put to one side so as it stands this week that will happen.

Car tax due on my car and au pairs and as dh paid tyres for hers this falls to me, €345 I have €275 saved so just €70 to put with it, should have that this week and it'll be another thing ticked off the list. It can be stretched out to 10th of month if necessary but I'd prefer just to get it done.

lilacclery · 20/01/2015 16:03

How quickly we forget spends! My dandelion tea is going to be €2.70 so reduces balance left for credit card bill to €12.13

lilacclery · 20/01/2015 16:04

May use self employed earnings over €70 this week for credit card bill next week too, no use saving money in one place and paying out in interest somewhere else

Pointlessfan · 20/01/2015 16:06

I'm still ill so NSD apart from sending DH out for some Ribena which I always want when poorly. Also we've had the heating on all day as I can't stay warm but starting to feel a bit better now.

lilacclery · 20/01/2015 16:11

Slipper Socks help pointless and drinking Ribena hot, is a big comfort too I think.

Pointlessfan · 20/01/2015 16:38

Good idea, I got some lovely ones for Christmas, I don't know why I haven't put them on today!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/01/2015 16:43

We have three blankets on the back of our sofa, should definitely use them more! I also like to wear my dressing gown over my clothes Blush

Sausage, waffles and beans for dinner. I feel like naughty comfort food. Going to put cheese on top
