£50 on Christmas cake ingredients yesterday. Makes 2x 3kg cakes though :)

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 17/11/2014 10:06

Amazing new surgeon consultant came today, he says op on Thursday, he's v confident that he will fix me! Grin he says it will probably be a big op so 5-10 days in hospital after, but worth it if I am well again for Christmas. I'm so happy.

great news MissA!!

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/11/2014 13:58

That is good news MissA, do you feel better for being fed through a line?.

£3 on food I forgot on Friday.

Free advent calendars up to £3

Yorkshire & Clydesdale banks will be offering £150 cashback soon for switching current accounts.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 17/11/2014 14:17

I do feel better thanks, fluffy but oddly I am still very hungry, so I'm sucking boiled sweets (no solids hit your stomach that way) and drinking lots and then risking the occasional ice cream or soup. Even those give me mild to moderate pain though, so trying to keep to the fluids.

So the food bill plus a few bottles at the pub is just over £1500 and they've said there's a discretionary 10% gratuity charge on top. Would you pay it? Blush

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 17/11/2014 15:46

Our food was £2000 including wine with dinner and champers to toast and pre-dinner pimms and nibbles. That was in 2008. For 70 people. How many are coming?

OP posts:
SpottyTeacakes · 17/11/2014 15:54

38 adults 3 dc

Fluffycloudland77 · 17/11/2014 16:44

Yes I'd pay it. You want good service on the day and wedding receptions are lots of work.

PeoniesforMissAnnersley · 17/11/2014 16:51

I'd pay it, worth it if it's the food you want and for goodwill and smiley service on the day.

spotty For me, it would depend on whether I felt the 10% was deserved or not, which you can't know until the day surely?

LSD today, a fiver at the car wash. Yes, I can wash the car myself, but it gets covered beyond belief with mud going to the farm to sort the pony out each day, I consider it a spending requirement in winter.

Cleaner paid too, but I have a budget for this.

Just about to spend at Body Shop, but that's from the Christmas budget, and already accounted for. If you spend £50, it's £25 off, therefore half price, and the DC both use their stuff.

girliefriend · 17/11/2014 16:56

Nsd, been at work which was very busy and can't believe how dark and miserable the weather has been all day - makes me want to hibernate!!

MissA - am so pleased things are finally happening for you Smile just keep thinking about all that Cake you will be able to scoff over Christmas!

girliefriend · 17/11/2014 16:57

Is that Bodyshop deal online needa?

needastrongone · 17/11/2014 17:16

Yes, I read it slightly incorrectly. You get £25 off if you spend over £50. I spend £65 (covering quite a lot of pressies, been waiting for a decent deal) and was charged £40, but still fine for me. The code is 14671, but it's on the website anyway, ends soon Smile

That sounds reasonable Spotty. I catered for a wedding last summer and the cost price of the ingredients was £600, obviously there's the delivery, preparation, blood, sweat and tears to consider!

No only spent £11.25 Sat/Sun! Great NS weekend.

Today I spent £11 on takeout sandwiches, the first takeaway food in a fortnight, so not feeling too bad about it.

At the start of November I was well into my overdraft (by 50% of my monthly wage!) and thanks to my frugle ways I may just clear my overdraft by the end of the month. It's been a fairly jammy month - no huge bills, but it's shown me how much we can save if I put my mind to it!

It's our 10 year wedding anniversary next year and my DH's 40th, so we booked a holiday yesterday. 2 weeks of super saving and I've realised we can have a holiday!

Hmmm, maybe for Xmas we can eat beans and toast and exchange homemade gifts! (Grin)

SpottyTeacakes · 17/11/2014 19:00
