Stampeding through a sensible, scrimping September!

Thought I'd do the honours Smile

With kids back at school and autumn weather drawing in we all need a very sensible September. I'm putting up my thermal curtains and refusing to put on the heating until October. Who's in?

NOOOOOOOO...... just popped into sainsburys for milk and whilst there noticed that ALL their ben and jerries was on sale at £1 a pot. Only trouble was it all went yesterday. They told me people were going mad and buying 20 pots at time. I missed it.

I came out with 2 lemon tarts, 6 pints of milk and 6 champagne magnums for a total of £4.20 (tarts 55p each, magnums 81p for 3) so I can't whinge too much but...

its not fair. I like ben and jerries and we've got plenty of freezer space right now but no way can I justify it at over £5 a pot :(

Humph

Spotty my ds loves waving at the bin men too ... in fact any interesting vehicle. He always waves at buses and yesterday he waved at a police car and was clearly delighted when the policeman in the passenger seat waved back. He kept shouting "ne nor wave ne nor wave" (he's just 2)

Mojito100 · 18/09/2014 11:31

I'm classifying myself as useless as I can't keep up with each of your posts and want to offer my thoughts to those with troubles. Spotty I hope your anxiety settles and you do see a GP about it, sixfor- I'm sorry to hear you and DH aren't on the same page re finances, keep going your intentions are worth it. For everyone else who I haven't acknowledged ThanksWineCakeSmile. I like giving wine on here it is so much cheaper than real lifeGrin.

I had $4.90 spend on parking and was doing so well until I needed consoling by a friend where I then spent $10 on coffee and cake. I was down and just needed a lift of some sort.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/09/2014 12:03

Lists ds is the same, he's 2 in November Smile

Spotty hope your chest is feeling better, sorry that DS is ill, I remember those days when I couldn't put DD down, and it is so hard Flowers

Passthecake sorry you didn't get the job - it is very frustrating to put you through to the next round like that though. Perhaps they had to have say 3 people for the next round and you were the closest, just a little short on experience? I do hope you can find something suitable soon Cake

LSD today - just milk, bananas and bread

confusedandemployed · 18/09/2014 14:15

Bloody hell, how is it that I have got to the age of 41 and not before realised how much cheaper greengrocers are than supermarkets? Actually I did realise but I was too lazy to make an extra trip

Just got a humungous bag of local potatoes for 1 and the biggest butternut squash you ever did see for 1.50.

ItalianWiking84 · 18/09/2014 14:24

7£ on crap but feeling misery and when I do that I eat crap food.... Blush

northender · 18/09/2014 14:48

Things going well still here. Found a new drama class for dd which needed payment up front. We've managed to do it within our weekly budget and she was one of the first 3 to sign up so has got 20% off the lessons up to Christmas, every little helps!
Hoping to be overdraft free at the end of the month, leaving just the credit card to pay off by the end of 2015

furcoatbigknickers · 18/09/2014 15:36

£2.80 on eggs and onions.

furcoatbigknickers · 18/09/2014 15:38

Handed in dds notice for swimming, thin thats £28 a month

CoolCadbury · 18/09/2014 15:56

Aw@spotty's and lists DSs. You two have reminded me of when DS was little and we used to live round the corner from the police station. We used to have to go for a walk there everyday to look at the parked vehicles. Some of the police officers got to know us and every once in a while, they used to turn their lights on and let him look inside. DS would jump out of his skin when they did the siren though. Smile

Hope your DS feels better spotty and how exciting about your hen-do. Are you looking forward to it - hope you have fun. Do you think part of the anxiety is due to your upcoming wedding?

Spent £24 on 3 sets of pjs and 5 pairs of school socks for DS. I am hoping he doesn't have holes in his pj bottoms within a month. All his pj bottoms from last year did but luckily I cut off at the knees for summer shorties. In fact, I did that with all his trousers with holes so I saved on buying shorts this summer. Grin

CoolCadbury · 18/09/2014 15:57

*cut them off

CoolCadbury · 18/09/2014 15:59

italian what's the matter? Hope you feel better eating the crap - sometimes we need it she says reaching for more cookies.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/09/2014 15:59

Hmm not sure. It's only a small wedding there's still a fair bit to do but we're pretty chilled! I am looking forward to it but as I've been in bed at eight every night this week I'm not sure how I'm going to manage Blush

CoolCadbury · 18/09/2014 16:11

Maybe have a daytime nap? Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 18/09/2014 16:15

I asked but my friends said no Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2014 16:25

£21 in aldi
£1 asda sp multi surface (four bottles) bunny friendly Wink
£4 on 800 tea bags in sainsbos.

£40 on ocado but that's two weeks supply of meat etc, I got £35 off the bill using a code they sent me and buying offers. I shouldn't need any top up shops at all now.

£10 petrol.

£16 refund coming from amazon. The led bulbs they sell are crapola. Luckily I don't have to send the bulbs back.

Pass that's really annoying, they wasted your time there.

CoolCadbury · 18/09/2014 16:32

Grin spotty

Fluffy did you try screwfix yet for your led bulbs?

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2014 16:50

Screwfix came out more expensive than LED Hut will be but amazon was even cheaper.

girliefriend · 18/09/2014 18:01

£55 in morrisons, spent more than I meant to but have got a lot of food for that, cupboards and freezer now well stocked.

CoolCadbury · 18/09/2014 18:38

So the hunt for the perfect but cheap LED bulbs go on? Smile I read somewhere that Jake (son of) Dyson has invented a new kind of super douper LED light that will last forever. But I think it's retailing at £114 or was it £1114? Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 18/09/2014 19:07

I think I'll stick with led hut. At least they work & you get a teeny bag of haribo with every order.

Co-Op membership card is sending out £5 vouchers off £5 spends, if you join it's probably too late to get them but they might do it again. Hopefully in time for me to buy Christmas pudding.

ItalianWiking84 · 18/09/2014 20:15

cool a friend of mine son is very sick with a very rare illness and it's just so horrible for him and the family... So they were told that he will have his 6th op soon, so needed some crap food because that's how I deal with sadness (not smart I know)

oneofthosedays · 18/09/2014 20:26

Yesterday's spending was £38 on small food shop Confused and today was £3 bus fare for DH as he discovered a puncture in his tyre and didn't have time to fix it before work and £23.75 on MIL's birthday present.

Pay day tomorrow! !
