CremeEggThief · 01/07/2014 16:27

Hi All,
I couldn't see a new thread yet, so thought I'd start one for July. The jacket potato is a marker for starting summer off on a frugal note. :).

NSD so far.

Yesterday I spent £6 on note books for dcs "holiday diaries" (cunning plan to practice literacy), mouthwash, brown paper and fruit for the office. Had promised to buy doughnuts but Greggs had ran out so fruit instead which was probably enjoyed more nutters

Trying to keep childcare costs down and aim to have dcs with me for at least some of the day a week that I wfh in the hols (4 of them) Hope it can be done as that's £8 p/h saving. Maybe I should bribe them? £1 an hour? ?! Anyone else manage it? Dcs are 4.5 and 6.

Passthecake30 · 23/07/2014 08:27

Nk hope you feel better soon. I had similar over winter and had the purple inhaler in the end. ..was fab, so if you haven't tried that keep it in mind

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2014 08:32

nk I hope you feel better today & the steroids aren't making you grumpy.

£5 off a £40 spend in lidl tomorrow in the daily express, according to hotukdeals anyway.

Mighty deals are doing a buy £5 tesco voucher to get £10 via quidco, it won't work if you've used the previous buy £5 get £10 voucher for debenhams or argos but you could sign up a dh as a new quidco user to get it.

Iamnotanugget · 23/07/2014 11:36

nk hope you're feeling better today.

fluffy I am already a quidco member but still got the Tesco offer. I have signed up to topcashback under a different email address though as new members get The Lego movie free. I hope it works but if it doesn't I was planning on buying it anyway for some rainy day entertainment.

£5.34 in sainsbury's yesterday but getting £1.40 cashback. Will be nsd today.

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2014 13:15

It's only if you've used the argos/debenhams spend £5 for a £10 voucher that you can't use the tesco one. Sorry I didn't explain it very well.

I meant if you have already used those offers then your OH could sign up.

I'm not actually explaining it any better now.

30p in M&S on food, spent a £10 voucher on reduced meat and milk.

Iamnotanugget · 23/07/2014 16:56

Thanks fluffy, the penny has dropped!

Had what may be my first nsd THIS YEAR!

AuditAngel · 23/07/2014 18:49

I also just got the Tesco voucher. Otherwise would have been NSD.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2014 18:50

Nsd. Can someone link to the tesco voucher please I'm being stupid Blush

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/07/2014 18:51

www.quidco.com/mighty-deals/?hoid=30071

There you go.

SpottyTeacakes · 23/07/2014 18:56

Thanks Fluffy

Hi all spent £40 this morning online boots toy sale but saved£120 and wasn't tempted by spend another£5 to get delivered free as over £20 is free delivery to store n we have a little pharmacy one by our doctors and easier to collect from there than miss postman n have to collect from sorting office and to store it comes quicker will be there tomorrow afternoon.

AdoraBell · 23/07/2014 19:29

Confused I know I posted yesterday but now I can't see it.

Anyway, NK hope you get better very quickly.

Spent about £85 yesterday on groceries and bits for DDs. Today DD2 is out with a friend, friend's DPs paying for museum, then sleepover for another friend's birthday. Gift has to wait until next week as invite issued at 7pm yesterday and no more money available ATM.

I'm sat here planning next week's shopping because the cash situation is driving me nuts. DH has messed about with the fence, bloody dogs can now get over it, again, and if the authorities see our dogs loose outside they fine us something like $1000 per dog, each day they escape. It's a good thing because the stray dog population is a serious problem here. So far 2 dogs have escaped twice and 1 of them 3 timesAngry. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we get away with it because they came back quickly.

I thought about stocking up on snacks/treats for the school holiday but DD1 is currently eating everything she can get her hands on, other than veg of course. Can't think where she gets that fromBlush, so I've decided if she wants biscuits she has to make them.

CoolCadbury · 23/07/2014 20:27

NSD today. DS just wanted to hang out at home today.

Passthecake30 · 23/07/2014 20:47

adora I was expecting you to say your daughter can eat the dog biscuits for a moment lol. Yes heat has sent me mad. .my kids are also eating me out of house and home, one eats the fruit, other eats the junk...I don't understand how they can be so different?? The junk eater was blw and was thrown a chicken leg here and there....the fruit eater ate pureed lentil mash lovingly prepared by me.

99p on a mcflurry today plus usual travel etc. After sweating buckets in an un air conditioned room I just deserved it.

NK5BM3 · 23/07/2014 20:55

NSD. Had a work meeting and the other person paid for coffee. Got £71 cheque for travel expenses and just paid in another £150 for some extra work so that's good.

I'm feeling much better thank you. The steroids have worked a treat and I suppose the antibiotics too. Never had a one a day dose type before. It's great. I don't forget to take it in the work day! This has meant that the inhaler now works again. Yay.

I lie. Not NSD. I paid £5 for dd's hair cut.

CremeEggThief · 23/07/2014 22:39

Glad to hear you're on the mend, NK :).

£7.13 in Tesco; £6.40 on a Chinese takeaway, with enough left over for lunch tomorrow; and £3.10 at the Post Office, so £16.63 in total.

NK5BM3 · 24/07/2014 19:06

Ok topcashback fiends... So I ordered the Lego movie for £10 and they've now said they've credited me with £10 in my account. Yay! How does one get the money out?! I don't need it now but just wanted to know the ins and outs of this thing. Thank you!

NSD.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/07/2014 19:10

It'll be tracked now, then confirmed, then payable in x weeks time.

Keep receipts or order emails etc.

SpottyTeacakes · 24/07/2014 19:51

Passthecake30 · 24/07/2014 21:09

Nowt else, so happy with that.

Karbea · 24/07/2014 21:13

Hello,

Please can I join? I need to cut back to as close to zero as possible.
We are working our way through the freezer at the moment, so today was a NSD, made a fish pie with some salmon steaks, some sad looking salad onions and half a packet of puff pastry that was at the bottom of the freezer, oh and some elmlea that's been sitting in the fridge with no idea of how I was going to use it.
I've still some elmlea left, anyone know a) what else I can do with it? B) how long will it last in the fridge.
