Twinings Earl grey costs less than a fiver for a big box.

3 books for a pound in our local charity shop.

Bubble tea!

I can't think of anything that I spend £5 on but I can think of things that cost nothing.

A cuddle with all my five rabbits.

Sitting in front of the woodburner that burns free wood.

Having the remote control in my hand and watching what I want.

My DH cooking all the meals and then doing the dishwasher.

Having the washing drying on the line outside.

Fresh home cooked bread
pizza base made with garlic, herbs, chopped onion & tomato puree added, and cheese on top.

Giant box of Omo with Arabic language instead of European (half the price from the discount shop). Primark socks and flipflops. H&M vests in white or crazy colours. A big photo print.

This thread is brilliant. How do I suggest to MNHQ that it should be transferred to the Credit Crunch section as it's a great resource for having fun and treats on a tight budget.

I love getting a pot of tea and a scone with clotted cream and jam - it's around 3.50 pretty much everywhere and it makes me so happy when i have that and a half hour to myself :)

All sorts of activities with the DCs too - planting seeds, playing with coloured ice cubes, reading stories etc....

And I know this sounds weird but tonight - when have a bad, bad cold and two little ones needing me 24/7:

Creme caramel = food of the Gos btw and v cheap, but even better with a sprinkling of sea salt on it!

Have got another - homemade rocky road using Basics chocolate and Basics salted peanuts and Basics digestives. Makes a tin full for less than £2.

A hand car wash when my car is filthy.

A packet of fresh pasta, garlic bread (value baguette ones are less than 50p) and tub of sauce Quick, easy lunch that everyone will eat. Minimum.cooking and minimum washing up.

When I was a student, every Tuesday I used to buy Grazia and a bar of chocolate then go home, take my duvet on to the sofa and read the mag/eat the chocolate with a giant mug of tea. Fabulous and cheap!
