Really happy to hear you have had good news, CremeEgg, that must have cheered you up!

Not doing too badly here. Got our Coop dividend point vouchers through the post today (we bank with them so get lots of points for that). So free sundries for a while Smile.

To celebrate me feeling more human again (and it being five years since we first met), MrEconomy and I (and small person) are going out for lunch tomorrow. We've spent less than usual this month so are treating ourselves. By joining the pub's mailing list I got a voucher for a free pudding!

CremeEggThief · 23/06/2012 10:22

Thanks ladies. Economy, enjoy your lunch, especially the free pudding :).

FaceCrack · 23/06/2012 10:27

NSD yesterday! Woohoo!

AdoraBell · 24/06/2012 04:56

Economy

Hope you enjoy your lunch.

CremeEgg

That's fab news

Well,I didn't spend anything today, but we did go out for diner to celebrate our anniversary. OH doesn't want to do gifts this year as he is a tizz about money, again.

Yesterday I bought warm school tights, £30 for 6 pairs, then £45 in the supermarket and £6 on lunch. I could have had a cheaper lunch but the view of the snow capped Andes driving into town inspired me to eschew McDonalds and have a healthy sandwich instead. Also spent £3 on the roads.

Tomorrow I envisage staying home and saving my penniesSmile

Leilandri · 24/06/2012 10:43

£100 on meat today at the meat man Shock but last time we went was 13 weeks ago, so £100 for 13 weeks is rather good I think, works out at about £1.10 a day on meat :)

Got £10 to last now until DH's payday on Tuesday, should be able to manage easily as e only need milk between now and then.

roguepixie · 24/06/2012 15:06

Just catching up with all the news - have had a busy week so haven't seen the thread much.

Congrat's Creme - wonderful news for you and your DSis. Grin

Well done Leilandri, sounds like another good deal at your meat man.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend, so far.

CremeEggThief · 24/06/2012 20:39

Aw, thank you everyone. She had a threatened miscarriage, so will need frequent scans for the time being, but hopefully, all will be well.

Managed my first NSD of the week :).

FaceCrack · 24/06/2012 21:30

Hope all is well with your Dsis creme

leilandri what a great deal for all your meat.

Another NSD here...boom! Just found out our landlords doing an inspection on Wednesday, lots of cleaning and tidying to do in the meantime!

AdoraBell · 26/06/2012 19:40

Spent in the supermarket yesterday, about £60' I'm trying not to spend more this week on food-OH permitting, he scoffed half a chicken after dinner last night. I do need to get some more school tights, and the vet's bill is creeping northwards. Car needs refuelling too, must do that post school run.

FaceCrack · 26/06/2012 19:51

Monday spent £4 on lunch and £100 on food shop. Today was a NSD. Smile

Greedygirl · 27/06/2012 08:51

Hi everyone, just checking in. I have been rubbish again with money this month but it's nearly pay day and I am determined that July is going to be different.

Bit of a money dilemma folks, your advice would be appreciated. We have been invited out twice for meals at the weekend. Once is for a neighbour's birthday which we accepted ages ago and we have had to arrange a paid babysitter as feel we have used up all our free babysitter credits with family recently! So that is going to be an expensive evening. And then yesterday my SIL asked us to go out on Sunday for a meal for our niece's birthday. So I feel a bit tight but we could really do without one or the other - two meals out is going to wipe my social budget out for the month! Plus I am going away the weekend after to meet up with some friends from uni. Any top tips on (nicely) turning down invitations or am I just going to have to suck this one up, it being my niece's birthday and all? And it is rubbish to back out of the other meal at this late notice isn't it? Going out for meals used to be my fave thing but now I am just Shock at how much it costs, especially when you are with boozy friends who just divide up the bill (if you can't beat them, join them Grin!).

On the plus side I have stopped getting gel nails done, so expensive and they didn't even last. Cancelled all my appointments.

AdoraBell · 27/06/2012 16:01

Greedy How old is your niece? Would she be devastated if Aunty isn't present, or too young to notice? It's tricky, but I think I would do both and spend the rest of the month thinking about how much I enjoyed my two lovely meals out with no cooking or washing up in one weekend.

Blew the rest of the food budget yesterday £30, and today I need to get more school tights and try to change some that came up large. Looks like a complete body stocking, including balaclava, on DD1.

Greedygirl · 27/06/2012 18:02

adorabell - that is a lovely way of looking at it! You are obviously a far nicer individual than me Grin. She is going to be 14 and I don't think she would mind but I think my SIL would be Hmm. I just wish we had had a little more notice and then we might of declined the other invite but life isn't like that so I am going to suck it up. And eat salad!

Just borrowed Fay Ripley's family cook book from the library. Has anyone else got it/used it? There looks like some really nice and value for money recipes.

MilkNoSugarAndAShotofWhisky · 27/06/2012 20:27

The rest of the week until Monday evening will be no spend days!

I've not a penny to my name!

Oh dear!

economymode · 28/06/2012 08:40

Doing well spending wise, I think. I need to pay £25 National Insurance by the end of July (keep putting it off). Technically, I could exempt myself as I don't earn enough, but I want to claim maternity allowance so have to cough up.

I also have to buy some resources for this admin work I'm doing. The lady I'm working for will pay me back (eventually), but she's a bit disorganised so I may end up out of pocket for a while.

Plus, it's both my and my husband's birthdays in July. Going to have to set tight budgets for that. We might be able to pop out for a cheap meal in between the two dates to celebrate, but not sure yet.

duchesse · 28/06/2012 09:56

Morning fellow credit crunchers. I kind of fell off the wagon mid-May due to being too busy to update here (many village things happening) and haven't really got back into the habit. Looking forward to starting to count spending again in July. In fairness I haven't spent immoderately since I was last on but certainly more than in the first 5 months of the year. See you in 3 days on the new thread!

economymode · 29/06/2012 09:12

Well, spent more than anticipated yesterday but it was a bargain and something we needed, so happy.

We needed some garden furniture and Sainsbury's had a set down to £60. Plus it was the last set available and got an extra 20% off as it was the display model. So, £48 for a table and four chairs. Not sure I'd have paid the full £150 for it, but for just shy of £50 I'm quite happy with it.

AdoraBell · 29/06/2012 15:32

Sounds good Economy

I spent again yesterday, supermarket, school tights and lunch, wanted to get shopping out of the way before the weekend arrives. I have a full freezer and plan to buy only perishables next week. Wracked up £50.

Today I need to get chicken for the pampered puppies, may as well buy loads today rather than go out again tomorrow. One of them has a delicate stomach which is becoming a bit of a PITA

FaceCrack · 29/06/2012 15:47

Just me today then?

FaceCrack · 29/06/2012 15:49

Damn wrong thread!

Sorry!

Anyway today I spent £4 at toddler group. Yesterday was a NSD!

adorabell you get through a lot of school tights?

Leilandri · 29/06/2012 20:06

yesterday spent £5.30 on shed bits, and £4 on a flask. Bought sandwiches and a few bits for lunch too from Morrisons, but had a £5 voucher from getting petrol so one outweighs the other.

NSD today - gardening, then allotment, then my folks came around for the afternoon and entertained my DS's so I was able to stew up all the rhubarb, blackcurrants and apples that I have gathered from allotment, all an added extra as there were on the plot already Grin

Signed on for Jobseekers yesterday - I feel incredibly embarrassed as I have never claimed benefits before except child benefit that everyone gets But hopefully that should be another £60 or so a week, so will cover groceries and petrol :)

AdoraBell · 30/06/2012 03:36

Face

Yep, that's enough for a week for two girls, and one pair has a hole already. I usually find that I'm under too much pressure to BA sewing tights more than a few times, so I buy enough to last the season, fingers crossed.

So today I bought the aforementioned chicken and some veg. OH has told me he won't be paid this month, of course he didn't know that when he bought two puppies 3 weeks agoHmm

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/06/2012 13:15

Leilandri, I had to sign on years ago and it was awful, you have my full sympathy there.

Luckily I found work soon after and couldnt wait to cancel it.

Good luck.

louiespence · 30/06/2012 20:35

Hello everyone! Back from my holiday now and ready to start not spending money again!! Holiday was fab by the way, but spent mote than we should have, both whilst there and on holiday stuff beforehand (clothes, suncream, suitcases etc!) so has been a really bad month spending wise! Ready to have a thrifty July!

Today I spent £30 at Aldi stocking up on fresh fruit/veg etc. My freezer is fairly full with chicken/fish etc so am hoping to have a reasonably low-spending week thus week ( on food at least!).
