Super oh heck, I thought a toddler boy's appetite was insatiable, I obviously haven't seen anything yet!! I hope your chat has worked, it sounds as though you have made him think. God bless the teenagers! I teach 16-19 year olds and it is such an interesting age and they can be absolutely delightful but they really test my patience to the extreme sometimes!

Leilandri phew! I got in a real pickle a couple of summers ago with money and it was causing loads of arguments with my DH and my mum came to the rescue, I felt a bit Blush but it was a one-off and I would do the same for my DS.

Well, due to lack of forward planning, a trip to Alton Towers (accompanying students) turned out to be expensive yesterday, meals etc. as I had not taken a packed lunch. I really resist the whole packed lunch thing, I just find them so boring! Trying to have a NSD today. Did a whizzbang shop at Lidl last night, ten minutes before it closed! Love Lidl. The lack of choice makes shopping so much more straightforward!

FaceCrack · 13/06/2012 08:07

super glad the chat went OK - hopefully he will change his tune.
leilandri don't worry about it, they wouldn't mind. Hope they had a good hol.
greedy you are brave teaching a bunch of teenagers. I'm not sure I could cope with the attitude.
adorabell chile? That's amazing, lucky you. Hope you and your DDs feel better soon.

Aiming for a minimal spend if not NSD today. I'm in work and I have quite a demanding job so I should be too busy to spend! Smile

roguepixie · 13/06/2012 16:18

Oh greedy Shock. You are in for a real eye opener!!! If your toddler has a good appetite now then you are probably heading down my particular street ... DS has gone from big to bigger to huge with regards to appetite and he is only 12!!! Apparently the big change happens around 15 ShockShockShock.

Leilandri · 13/06/2012 20:32

We had a great day today Grin
DH's birthday today, so the day started with DS1 handing out pressies and cards to DH, then "helping" to open them Hmm, we had pancakes for breakfast, then as the sun was threatening to show itself, we headed down to the allotment.
DS1 (3yo in 6 days time!) was a treasure, and was very helpful for a change He gathered up loads of weeds in his little wheelbarrow, watered some plants, and helped me plant some veggies. DS2 (10mo) ate some grass, rolled in some mud and pulled up clumps off weeds!
Managed to plant out purple sprouting broccoli, swede, sweetcorn, butternut squash, courgette, pumpkins and savoy cabbage. Still got loads left to plant out, but have to clear some more ground first.
We then came home and had a picnic tea inside DS1's Thomas Tank tent which was a HUGE squeeze and DS1 and I managed to beat DH on mario cart wii, which is a huge achievement!

Anyway, long way of saying that today was a very enjoyable NSD, and made £3 selling some baby items too :)

FaceCrack · 13/06/2012 20:39

Sounds like a lovely day leilandri.

I had planned a NSD but my meeting, with lunch included, was cancelled so I had to buy lunch. Boom! £5 gone. Angry

Greedygirl · 13/06/2012 20:45

leilandri that sounds just perfect! So nice when the LOs treat you to their angelic side! I think that my dh could do with an allotment, he has tried to grow stuff in our garden but we only have a teeny one so we are a bit pushed for space. He is the obsessive type though so I would never see him unless I went with him every time.

rougepixie forget uni, I obviously need to start planning for the increase in food budget then! Oh heck. My ds won't eat a massive dinner but is a grazer.

Not too bad today but not a NSD. Made some money tutoring for a friend's daughter. Refused to buy ds a magazine or a DVD or a computer game at the supermarket...god bless him for trying!

AdoraBell · 14/06/2012 04:28

Another non-spendy day here, only really because we're stuck at home, DDs off school and OH off work. Vet bill is creeping up though, he came round tonight to see them as one is pooing blood. I have to give them boiled water and plain boiled rice & chicken, then speak to him tomorrow.

Superduperdoo · 14/06/2012 07:41

I need to update my spends for the week. I had a little panic on last night that there wouldn't be enough food to last until Thursday but there should be. Oh has said he'll buy some food as well seeing as he eats here every night.

Monday
I started with £50

I topped Ds1's dinner money with £10
I found £1.93 cleaning and hidden away in my purse
I sold something on fb for £5

Ended with £46.93

Tuesday

I spent £3.20 on Ds2's dinner money and 20p on his snack for school (i saved having to spend another £1.50 on a new water bottle by using a plastic one i had. I wouldn't mind buying them if he didn't chew them unusable by day 3)
Ds1 stole £2.00 Angry
I spent £2.00 on a shirt for OH for Fathers Day (i had a pair of daps to return but with no reciept they wouldn't refund so swapped it for a shirt and paid the extra)
I spent £11 on fruit & veg at the market
Spent £3.19 on sawdust
Spent £1.30 at afterschool club but got 2 free coffee's by helping out so saved £1.00

Ended up with £24.04

Wednesday

I spent £3.99 on lunch with my Sisters it was the cheapest thing i could find (we parked in Tesco and walked into town saving £1.30 parking)
I spent £11.66 in Tesco on food and a father's day card (my sister gave me a stamp saving me 60p)
Oh gave me the £10 he owed me for Ds2's class photo

Ended up with £18.39

Today should be a NSD as long as we don't go to after school club. We don't usually go twice in one week but if the weather's nice we might. I've just had to say no to Ds2 taking money in to school for the fathers day sale. We've already got him a nice present so really cant afford to spend £2 on some tat. I've made a packed lunch for Ds2 and Ds1 will be joining him when the dinner money runs out. I baked some cakes yesterday for lunch boxes and snacking and a pineapple upside down cake for pudding.

economymode · 14/06/2012 08:34

Not checked in for a few days. But spending wise we're doing ok. I find that getting £100 out of the cashpoint and then only using that really helps curtail unnecessary spendage. Got £100 out on Sunday and have around £70 left. I've done the main shop and also a few bits at Coop - mainly reduced, organic or specialty breads down to 50p yesterday. And decent rolls for 10p. I do try to make bread, but it's good to have some in the freezer. However, I got home yesterday to find that MiniEconomy was hugging a loaf of bread in his lap. Completely missed that when going through the checkout Blush.

economymode · 14/06/2012 08:36

Leilandri, your allotment sounds lovely. I've planted a load of seeds in our veg patch, but nothing and I mean nothing, has taken. I think the deluge of rain we had last week might have waterlogged them. So, back to square one. However, our raspberry bush is fruiting this time for the first time since we bought it three years ago. And the strawberry plants we've had for a few years are also producing fruit.

Greedygirl · 14/06/2012 18:18

economymode that's one way of saving money Grin! I am also going to have to start doing the cash thing.

NSD here I have just realised - hurrah!

milk · 14/06/2012 18:33

Hello Ladies :) Can I join?

My name is Milk and I am an absolute spendaholic, except DH birthday is coming up and I really want to buy him a nice gift this year, so I have to save :) I will need a lot of support Grin

AdoraBell · 14/06/2012 21:00

Hi Milk and welcome

I've had another NSD, still stuck at home, tomorrow I have to get a watch battery for DD1 and probably a few other bits but I can't think of what right now. It's our anniversary soon, couple of weeks, and I haven't a clue what to get the OH.

Leilandri · 14/06/2012 22:47

Another NSD here Grin
Went out for a lovely meal tonight for DH's Bday. All-you-can-eat curry and boy can I eat! for £6.49 each, and unlimited refill soft drinks for £2.25 each, and best of all DH paid out of his Bday money.
Landlords came today to take a look at all the jobs that need doing, and have commisioned a builder to sort everything out, yey! BUT I also asked them if we'd be allowed to keep chickens and they said...... YES GrinGrin
So I am now scouring the web for info on breeds, coops, runs etc etc - I'm going to be a fully paid up member of "The good life" soon!

FaceCrack · 15/06/2012 08:02

What nice landlords you have leilandri. Yesterday came in at £32, dinner at pizza express and a round of drinks. Not horrendous bearing in mind we were in central London.

Today is set to be expensive, I've already spent 28 on flowers to be delivered in Devon for my best mate who has just had a baby boy. In a bit, I've got the supermarket plus something for fathers day and a present for the wee one! Although I think I have something unused upstairs with the label on that we were given.

milk · 15/06/2012 08:31

What is NSD?

AdoraBell- what is your budget for anniversary gift?

Leilandri- Chickens- you are brave!!! I plan on having a few herb plants in the garden when we move in a few weeks time. Maybe one day I can move onto live stock :)

FaceCrack- we also keep a collection of clothes DS never wore that have tags on, and give them as gifts when people have kids Grin

So today the only thing I need to buy is apple juice, which will cost me 56p.

I also need to pay my phone bill: £24, pay for an ebay item I bought: £1.99, and pay my ebay selling fees: £3, so today I should not spend more than £29.55.

Superduperdoo · 15/06/2012 09:43

Milk a NSD is a No Spend Day. I had one yesterday and today is hopefully going to be one too. All being well i shouldn't have to spend any money until Tuesday but it doesn't always work like that.

milk · 15/06/2012 10:43

Gosh, I have paid/bought for everything I needed to, but spending is such a temptation. Such as this morning thinking how nice it would be if I were to book some train tickets to the beach, or looking at DVDs on Amazon (must stay off that website). But I resisted and I now plan on not spending any money all weekend Grin

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/06/2012 13:52

Is everyone using quidco or topcashback.co.uk for internet purchases?

milk · 15/06/2012 14:12

Quidco don't work on Amazon :( Nectar card does though :)

milk · 15/06/2012 15:38

You sure don't get the same buzz from saving as you do from spending :(

milk · 15/06/2012 15:51

Why have all the summer clothes sales begun today?!? :( I am being severely tested :(

Leilandri · 15/06/2012 22:20

Well definately NOT a NSD day today - £75 in morrisons :(
Did include £8 of Xmas saver stamps tho, and lots of bread/muffins/crumpets for the freezer as DS2 is eating his own body weight in bread products for breakfast at the mo. He's 10 months old and had 6oz of formula this morning, followed by 2 whole slices of toast and marmite, 1 whole banana and a further 4oz of formula Shock Damn boys are going to bankrupt me!!
Hopefully be NSD tomorrow, followed by another trip to our meat man on Sunday so will probably have to wave goodbye to another £100 then Hmm

FaceCrack · 16/06/2012 07:46

Oh wow leilandri, that's a big breakfast Smile. Growth spurt? DD went through a phase like that a similar age as she was moving so much.

Yesterday I spent £5 on coffee for a friend and I plus the flowers I listed earlier. £30 on food. Didn't get a present as I found some unused still tagged baby gro's upstairs. Perfect!

Today we haven't got much planned, until this evening. We are out with my family so it's £30 for a sitter plus whatever else. I'm hoping not to spend until tonight.

milk · 16/06/2012 08:43

Leilandri - "followed by another trip to our meat man on Sunday so will probably have to wave goodbye to another £100" - what do you buy from your meat man that costs £100?!?

FaceCrack - Hope you have fun tonight :)

Today for me is definitely a NSD. I have no reason to spend. Just have to resist temptation :)
