wonderif · 03/12/2010 12:36

i have 3 full black bags of clothes i thought if i ebayed them all even at a quid i could prob get about 90/100 quid.

its just so time consuming but do really need the money before christmas

ebay is free listing sat/sun this weekend

Frazzledmumwithsmudgedmascara · 06/12/2010 14:10

I'd like to join you! :)

DH and I have decided that from January we are going to save, save, save, as we are just frittering money away left right and centre, and it's getting ridiculous.

Ideally I'd like to save enough to have some cosmetic dental work done....

Eddas · 06/12/2010 14:27

i'll join you. In need of trying to stop spending Grin as well as trying to get an emergency pot going so I don't panic if the car needs work, or the fridge blows upSad

pollywollyhadadollycalledmolly · 07/12/2010 16:24

Hiya,

can i join you?

After xmas i am going to have some debts paid off plus doing some extra work :D which will help me have some more money, but i am going to try and save it all, as opposed to just wasting it on stuff i dont need! lol

Good luck, and watching with interest. I somehow have to find £3500 just to replace my falling-down porch!

nymphadora · 10/12/2010 07:30

Dh has just put open shelves in our pantry (cellar!) and mow we see the food & use it! I also freeze left overs for future snacks

We will be tightening belts after xmas. Mr Stars job disappears in march - he's busy doing lots of courses (part of the package) and applying for others but I am preparing for our main income disappearing.

I'll join once Christmas is over (though have tightened the belt this year.

I'd like to reduce food bill, and cut down on the sort of spending on bits and pieces that can easily see the pounds frittered away.

lisa1968 · 14/12/2010 23:27

I'm a childminder and my hubby was made redundant last january.after applying for 40 jobs and getting nowhere,he's decided to go self employed after xmas.it's a massive step, and he's very good at what he does, but it means that we'll both be self employed which is the scariest part.please keep everything crossed for us!!!

happysunshinedays · 21/12/2010 10:39

DH's business went under in August. Never been so strapped, struggled with winter coats and shoes for DCs. He's now self employed and I've just interviewed for supply work in the new year in case he doesn't get enough work to pay mortgage. I'm definately in!!

funmother · 26/12/2010 17:53

Hi,
can i please join in with you?
I am a single parent with 2 children and a full time uni student and want to save as much money as possible during the next 12 months.

My main spending is food, i can spend about £100 a week just for us 3. My kids are 10 and 6, and they eat more than i do, they are HUGE eaters, but i really want to half my shopping bill, and aim to spend no more than £50 a week. I think this is a reasonable amount for us 3- what do you think?

I have lots and lots of food in the house at the moment, so shouldnt need to do a full shop for a few weeks, so thats'll be a good start.

SantaClausImWorthIt · 26/12/2010 17:55

Why is this all in bold?! It's hurting my eyes!

I'm going alcohol-free in January, so that will save me some money. I have a credit card bill that needs to be paid off asap.

usualsuspect · 26/12/2010 17:58

Whats with the bold?

arentfanny · 26/12/2010 17:59

Cut down on alcohol.
I started getting books from the library for us all.
Going through the freezer and eating that for the next few weeks, we will be a bit beef bound but won't have to buy anything except for veg.

TrinityMotherOfRhinos · 26/12/2010 18:00

I dont wanrt to cut down on alcohol or books or fags
I'm my worst enemy

current;y listeing to gecko scream mummy cause I'm well sick of it

I'm retcheing and dont beleive I should be doing it but pft fuckinf pft

its just too much now

5 years, its killing me

Quiltingmoomin · 26/12/2010 18:03

Can I join in please? I took a pay cut when I went back to work after DS2 and when the rail fares go up in Jan I will be hit hard. I'm vowing to stop Amazon sprees, refashion clothes rather than get new ones and stop buying tat - I have a tat habit Blush

funmother · 26/12/2010 18:08

Books are my luxury and i hate not buying them Blush but i know that i need to at least restrict the book buying- i have spent £50 this month on books for me !
So, library for me from now on

I gave up smoking in August Grin, and apart from the weekly friday night bottle of red, i dont really drink (although i still have baileys to finish off).

nymphadora · 26/12/2010 19:18

DVDs are our weakness so going to join lovefilm or something once we've done the Xmas ones

I need to change phone/net companies as ours has shot ip lately.

Dh is doing job hunting properly!
