Doing my first proper post Christmas shop today and would like to shave off about £10 per week. Have menu planned. I'm also going to work out how much goes on food and how much on other stuff (cleaning, toiletries) and see if I can bulk buy the latter - perhaps by joining Costco.

Am walking wherever possible and accepting any offered lift to further away places (I'm owed quite a few so I don't feel bad). I haven't filled up since just before Christmas Grin but dreading it when I do!

Maybe look into Tesco's vouchers for air miles goingroundthebend? I think they might be a bit pants so do check first but you never know, start saving now and you might save a few quid?

Don't know if your dd still has limited life expectancy, but if so what about an organisation like Make a Wish to subsidise trip? You probably know a lot more about that than me, but just thought I'd mention it.

Good luck, I'm sure you'll do it! Lots of cheapy family picnics in local parks over the summer!

My biggest enemy is the laptop, a couple of clicks and that new book or whatever is on it's way. My other problem is going into the supermarket for a couple of items and spending £30+. This evening for example I only went in for red lentils and dog food and ended up spending £29. Not frittered on magazines or the like, it was all useful stuff. The daft thing is I wanted the lentils to make a budget meal!! Blush

hellebore, I do the exact same thing, it doesn't seem like you're buying if it's done on the laptop! and I seemed to be in Tesco every other day spending £30Blush I have got better as I started trying to stop buying/pay off some things in July last year. as they say on MSE I had my 'lightbulb moment'! We have a few debts and originally my aim was to pay them off by Dec 2011 but it's moved to a more realistic June 2012 now.

I need to stop spending. Sounds simple but it's really really hard!
