Covid Variant

I’ve not been sick since Christmas. I’ve had Covid about 5 times in total and this is by far the worst I have ever felt with it.

With all my others, it stayed mostly in the head like a cold, this one I can feel the tightness in my chest. I’ve totally lost my sense of taste and smell, whereas the first one I had my taste was distorted. Heart rate is constantly spiking and I am sweating like a dog.

Although I haven’t tested I just know that this is absolutely covid. Is anyone else suffering at the moment ? 😩

I am refusing to consider long Covid. I’ve deemed this medium covid. 😁
I am worried though about travelling again at Christmas. Not sure there are any precautions I can take other than not ever travelling again.

I’ve just tested positive today and am feeling pretty ropey , the constant coughing is stopping me from sleeping just to add insult to injury

There are plenty of precautions you can take, and a layered approach is best.
The most obvious one is to mask up on the plane and in the airport and public transport with an N95 mask. I recommend the 3M Aura. Avoid taking it off to eat/drink unless you can do somewhere outdoors/well ventilated. Really - masking on the plane is a no-brainer, the ventilation is awful.
Use nasal sprays like Boots Dual Defense as an extra layer of protection, the carrageenan has been shown in some trials to help bind to covid virus and stop it entereing your lungs. Alternatively, do nasal rinses.
Use CPC mouthwash. Take Blis K12 probiotics.
Prioritise outdoor time in well aired spaces.

@AussieManque thank you so much. That’s really helpful. I struggle to wear a mask with my asthma but I’m eager to avoid this again. Finally starting to feel human again.

Get a mask with a valve to breathe more easily. At the start they were a no-go because whatever you exhale still escapes, causing risk to others, but given no one is masking these days, wear a valved mask to breathe more easily, you are ultimately wearing it to protect yourself in this case (obviously if you are sick, don't wear a valved one!). Look up the Face Mask Store online for UK mask deliveries, they have a huge range and quite often on sale. Trident and 3M are highly rated.

I’ve been incredibly lucky and never had Covid. I’m so sorry to read how awful it is for some of you. I’m thinking of paying for a jab this year. I’m 72 and not eligible but my health isn’t great.

I went back to work yesterday. Exhausted by 11am. Still feel up and down temperature wise and headachey. And just exhausted. Post viral fatigue I suppose .
