I had someone in work last week and he sounded like he had a cold. He was testing negative on the home tests. I wasn't overly concerned. I don't think he usually experiences hay-fever or sintitus. I don't know what his symptoms were aside from the head cold stuff.

Over the past few days I experienced a fever. My fever went as high as 39.1. It was slow to respond to over the counter paracetamol and ibuprofen. It did come down but it was up and down for the past 2 days. My fever is now under control and its about 36.9 and it is staying down.

I have another condition where I am easily prone to infections so I honestly to god, don't know if it's flare up of that condition or if it's me coming down with a viral dose that I was exposed to last week.

Now it feels like I might be coming down with a head cold.

Started with dizziness and exhaustion, then had running nose, sore throat and a mild cough. Haven't had headaches or body aches at all.

SatsumaZoom · 06/07/2022 06:24

5 days ago I had a tight chest, I figured it was my hayfever. I also had random pains in my legs which I ignored. 3 days ago the chest tightness turned into a slight chunky cough. Was still testing negative. Yesterday I woke up and my skin felt super sensitive and uncomfortable, I also had a thick head. By yesterday lunchtime I felt worse with fatigue and whole body aches. Tested positive. I've found sleeping really difficult even though I feel wiped out, has anyone else noticed this?

I'm trying to work out with the progression of symptoms if I'm in the worst bit or if worse is yet to come. This is my first time.

diamondpony80 · 06/07/2022 06:48

I had symptoms for about a day and a half although I was testing positive for a week. Mainly just a mild sore throat, headache and couldn't get warm. I went to bed with a hot water bottle just to warm myself up, went to sleep for an afternoon and felt much better afterwards. I did have a slight runny nose for a few days after, but felt fine otherwise.

DH had symptoms for nearly 4 weeks and was feeling really rough. He spent a lot of time in bed over the first 2 weeks with flu like symptoms - bad headache, really sore muscles, weak etc. He was testing positive for longer than 10 days and had to take quite a bit of time off work.

Neither of us ever had a temperature or cough.

Day 4 for me and think I am turning a corner. First symptoms for me was unnaturally tired and headache but tested negative. Went to bed early and woke up the next day and just knew I had covid I just felt wiped out. Tested positive straight away. By the evening I was coughing , followed by the worse sore throat for 2 days which has thankfully virtually gone today. Now just bunged up nose and head a bit woolly. I am planning on doing some work today (WFH) and hopefully getting back to normal by the end of the week. Isolating from the rest of the house has been no fun

Hoolihan · 06/07/2022 09:58

Had it last week, for the first time. Very tired (as in couldn't really get out of bed), achey, headache, very dizzy, tickly cough & sore throat. The most dramatic symptoms being the fatigue and dizziness. Still having dizzy spells now! It was much less like a cold than I was expecting.

Hoolihan · 06/07/2022 10:03

Oh and my toes went numb!

CiderWithLizzie · 06/07/2022 10:09

I’ve just tested positive for the first time yesterday evening, after a negative test at lunch time. We flew back from Italy on Saturday, so I expect that’s when I caught it. Main symptoms so far are are scratchy sore throat, headache, mild fever and general aches and pains. I’ve got a bit of a cough too. DH has just tested positive too.

LoveFlowers · 06/07/2022 10:33

My main symptoms have been a snotty nose, pressure around my head and sinuses, fatigue that comes in waves but really hits me hard and strange sudden cramps or aches that go as suddenly as they came.

My DH had a raging temperature and was very fatigued for a few days, then it developed into a night cough/bad sinusitis with intermittent fatigue and some cramps.

My DS also had a raging temperature for 36 hours that we could only get down with calpol, calprofen, luke warm baths and dabbing him with wet flannels. He also vomitted while the fever was at its worst. He seems back to normal now (despite a strong positive COVID test result today) so hoping he won't have any more symptoms.

flumposie · 06/07/2022 10:42

Last Tuesday felt dizzy during the day. Tested positive that night. Then developed cold, sore throat and cough. Loss of taste and smell.Saturday fatigue and more dizziness, worse symptoms for me. Currently still off from work because I can not stand/ walk far without needing to rest.

78Summer · 06/07/2022 11:48

Started with scratchy throat first day, next day moved to fever and muscle aches for 24hrs; then moved to very congested, burning nose and bad headache. Feel completely knocked out and it is day 6.

BackToTheTop · 06/07/2022 12:05

A cold, runny nose, cough (but not a bad one), aches and pains and a headache. Nothing a couple of paracetamol didn't fix. I was still doing everything I would normally do (I work from home), just felt a bit 'under the weather )

TheFairyCaravan · 06/07/2022 12:55

DH had a sore throat and headache on Friday morning but tested negative so went to work. By that evening he was extremely tired and we didn’t go back to his works Summer party. By Saturday morning he had what was like a really bad head cold. Saturday night he was really hot and we had to change the bed in the middle of the night because he was sweating so much. He had a strong positive Sunday morning.

Last night I felt really sick and dizzy. Today I’ve got a very sore throat, banging headache and am very tired. I got a positive this morning. I’ve, also, got really achy joints and can hardly walk, especially in the joints that I’ve already got arthritis in.

Carrotmum · 06/07/2022 13:03

Never had Covid til last week, it started of with a 38.3 temp feeling sick and fluey. Feeling sick lasted about 12 hrs, temp gradually came down to normal temp after 48hrs. Felt like flu for about 5 days I went completely off eating apart from fruit had bad insomnia as well.

SummersBreeze · 06/07/2022 13:15

Thank you for all of the replies. Turns out the fever I had the other day was indeed covid. I was so surprised.

I'm OK with it. Feels like some sinitus behind the nose right now.

The fever is down and within normal.

Symptoms started on Sunday. I was feeling fine apart from having a tight feeling in chest for the whole day - assumed asthma flaring up. Had an active day though.
Sunday night started to feel unwell - chest congestion and headache.
Monday- definitely too sick to work. Felt hot and cold, shivery, lethargic, splitting headache, no energy, body aching all over. Couldn't get warm no matter what I did. No sore throat or runny nose.
Tuesday - same as above but worse. Slept for most of day.
Wednesday - today, shivers/fever has gone but sore throat has set in along with sniffles. All other symptoms ongoing. Headache slightly less bad. Planning to stay in bed for the rest of the day. Got up earlier to do some things and had to come back to bed.

GG1986 · 06/07/2022 13:38

Had covid the other week, started feeling a bit ill on the wednesday ,scratchy throat and hayfever symptoms, tickly cough started thursday, i remained negative until the sunday and had been testing everyday due to my job. Really strong positive on Tuesday and symptoms were gone 2 days later.

IsadoraQuagmire · 06/07/2022 14:17

Got it for the first time!
Woke up with a sore throat on Sunday, did test - negative.
Cold symptoms on Monday, did another test-negative.
Tested again today - positive.
Have/have had sore throat, headache, shivers, weak feeling, runny nose, sneezing, bad cough (both dry cough and phlegmy cough by turns)
So far, it really does feel no different to a bad cold though (this is Day 4)

SatsumaZoom · 06/07/2022 14:18

@Carrotmum I'm so relieved you mentioned the insomnia. I've been so wierded out by the fact that I'm completely shattered in yet barely sleep at night I feel like I just lay there. I've just managed to sleep for 2.5hrs this lunchtime and it feels like the first proper sleep I've had in days. Now you are (I'm assuming) better has normal sleep resumed? 🙏

overthinkersanonnymus · 06/07/2022 15:09

Day 1 was Saturday night- fever and chills with a bad head

Sunday - absolutely awful. I couldn't lift my head or body off the bed and I was so so dizzy. My whole body felt like I had sunburn

Monday- worst sore throat of my life started along with the bad headache and dizziness. Sunburn feeling persisted

Tuesday- starter to feel a bit better in the morning, could walk around and eat but my throat and skin sensitivity was still bad.

Today- 4am d&v started with running nose and slight cough. The tops of my eyeballs feel painful if I move them

I'm not too ashamed to admit I cried today 🤣 I'm just so bloody fed up with it and scared I won't get better

Carrotmum · 06/07/2022 16:02

@SatsumaZoom Three other people I knew who had Covid recently all had the insomnia as well The worst day was being awake all night til past 6am then sleeping for about 3 hrs and being awake all the rest of the day despite feeling exhausted. I’m fine now it was like a switch had been clicked 5 nights not sleeping and no day time naps either then suddenly sleeping again I hope it’s the same for you as well.

BogRollBOGOF · 06/07/2022 16:03

Felt like a standard cold but less snotty and a bit more tired. Been doing gentle activity outdoors in quiet places, and dropping the DCs off at the door of places and trusting them to fend for themselves (they've done pretty well). No one else has gone down with it.

It's felt a bit stronger than the round I had at Christmas which was mainly a prickly throat that didn't do much.

XenoBitch · 06/07/2022 16:25

Saturday night, I kept going off hot and cold. Went to bed, and woke up Sunday feeling really achy with a head ache. Took a test and it came up blazing positive right away. It was the first test I had ever taken, and I gagged and struggled to get the swab up my nose so am surprised there was enough of a sample to test.
As day went on, I developed a slight sniffle. Lemsip sorted all my symptoms

Monday - my eyes and jaw ached, and I got a bit of a chesty cough.
Tuesday - just the occasional cough
Today - no symptoms at all.

Tomorrow is day 5 (if I have worked it out right) so will take another test then.

I hope everyone else feels better soon.

Whopbamboom · 06/07/2022 16:39

I had it last week/the week before.

I had a blocked nose and maybe 2 headaches over the course of a week that didn't shift with paracetemol. I thought I had hayfever and was run down as i'd been busy at work and am pregnant so generally tire easier than usual. I still have a bit of a stuffy nose 2 weeks later but otherwise feel fine now.

I never would have thought it was covid, but read an article saying it was going around again so decided to test, just in case. Immediate and strong positive.

Itsjustamoment · 06/07/2022 17:04

For me, a blinding headache with stabbing type pain. Not shifting with otc painkillers. Bunged up nose, sore throat, coughing, sneezing. Joint aches, general fatigue.
