Heart rate - help!

Robinni · 07/05/2022 15:44

About 6 wks on since caught Covid.

My heart rate is normally 72-80 resting.

However it is going anything from 60 - 105… at times it plummets quickly.

I’m worried I can’t get through to GP.

Anyone had this?

im very tired still, but nauseous. Otherwise ok I think.

What are you using to check your heart rate? Have you double-checked the readings manually?

Egghead68 · 07/05/2022 15:48

Yes had resting heart rate 130-150 after covid abs also sudden falls in blood pressure. I suspect I had pericarditis and later POTS. I wouldn’t worry about your resting heart rate too much. I think 60-100 is normal range so you are mostly within this. Hope you recover soon.

BlanketsBanned · 07/05/2022 15:49

It could be covid but the best rhing would be an ecg and blood tests I would call 111 or get to hospital if you can. Are you on any medication, how old are you.

Mossstitch · 07/05/2022 15:56

I had covid over 2 years ago now (long version) and my heart rate is still not back to my normal. Resting heart rate was then late 50s, its now late 70s (was higher up to 100 when I was bad, didn't notice any sudden drops but I wasn't really monitoring it). Didn't go to doctors so can't really advise but it sounds if your still fatigued/nauseous that you may have long covid, i had the nausea for 4 months I'm afraid. Covid does seem to cause some very weird symptoms!

@avoidthecreakystair using oximeter, double checking with bp monitor (bp also inflated but not massively) and manual few times a day. Had it checked at gym - they refused me and told me to see gp and also chemist… tried to get through to gp all last wk they are not seeing people currently, all over the phone and they didn’t call back.

@BlanketsBanned mid thirties, on pill and pain killers mainly, nothing new that would cause this.

Maybe you'd have more luck with the out of hours service, if you can't get a regular GP appointment?

Always best to get these things checked, especially when you've been advised to by the gym.

Lady night sitting watching tv - The Split so not a thriller or horror film and noticed, out of the blue my heart was racing. It was at 130 😮
Normally between 75 to 85 beats.
I hadn't been exercising. The last cup of coffee - was five and a half hours previously. I'd had two cups of coffee and two cups of tea all day.
It took almost an hour to get back to normal.
I wasn't stressing about anything.

What was that about ????
I've not had Covid but have been really tired.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

Nobody here knows. See your GP.

@LadyEloise10 i didn’t test +ve until day 10!! And then only briefly when cough started… feel like poop! I think out of hrs might be an idea I feel like chest is heavy too. It’s weird.

I'm exactly the same on day 8 haven't been I'll, haven't had a temperature just a cough, dropped sats by 5% (but still just normal) and racing heart. Got to go back to work on Monday day and still don't feel right 😬

Robinni · 07/05/2022 17:52

Ouch DH and DS have avoided it in this house, hope your all feeling better soon

helpmey · 07/05/2022 21:00

Is your HR regular or irregular?

Robinni · 07/05/2022 21:09

@helpmey I don’t know how to tell. It is all over the place the other day I put on oximeter and it was in 90s then could see it falling to 60s and back up. Very odd…

OP posts:
helpmey · 07/05/2022 21:12

when you take your pulse (feel your neck) is it constant rhythm or does it change rhythm?

helpmey · 07/05/2022 21:15

tbh I would go to a&e (if no out of hours service) you need ECGs

Robinni · 07/05/2022 21:24

@helpmey its quite constant but sort of goes lighter and then back to constant speed again…. Ok thank you I should probably get a move on. Thanks.

@Robinni - I'm similar

I get 93% oxygen and 56bpm in the middle of night. This has been quite regular, now coming up to four weeks of covid. Although I think I may just be turning the corner now.

If I go for even gentle walk it goes to over 100bpm - but oxygen improves.
But Walk up two flights of stairs and get 97% oxygen and 76 bpm

I've checked my oximeter on everyone else and son is on 99% and around 76bpm, so I think it's accurate- but they do seem to fluctuate a lot.

Secretname123 · 09/05/2022 14:50

My heartbeat fluctuates all the time. Anywhere between 60-120 when not exercising. I’ve not had covid but didn’t realise it was an issue to have a fluctuating heart beat. I literally sit and watch it drop 20 Bpm with the oximeter on.

CorsicaDreaming · 09/05/2022 18:57

Trouble is, I don't know what mine was before covid - or what is / is not normal - as I never thought to check it to get baseline measurements before. I wish I had now.

Egghead68 · 09/05/2022 19:48

It’s completely normal for it to fluctuate. Here’s mine from last week.

Heart rate - help!
CorsicaDreaming · 09/05/2022 20:05

@Egghead68 - but mine's been as low as 53bpm resting which just seems too low...
I'm not a runner, I'm not that fit. It just seems weird.

Robinni · 09/05/2022 20:46

@Egghead68

Am I missing something in that pic it looks like HR fluctuating between 66-68?

Mine is fluctuating between 107 and 61…. Normally 72-78 at rest.

Given propranolol for the palpitations and I think they are sending me for further investigation…

covid is 💩

66, 67 and 68 are the overall daily averages.
The graphs should that my heart rate fluctuates a lot within each day.

I am glad you are getting help with the palpitations. Covid is indeed the gift that keeps on giving.
