Heart rate - help!

About 6 wks on since caught Covid.

My heart rate is normally 72-80 resting.

However it is going anything from 60 - 105… at times it plummets quickly.

I’m worried I can’t get through to GP.

Anyone had this?

im very tired still, but nauseous. Otherwise ok I think.

@Egghead68 ah!! I must remember to zoom in! Yes normal fluctuation grand… I’ve sat and watched it plummet about 40bpm in minutes… while doing nothing…. Then lying in bed I’ll wake up and is 107. All very odd and at least they are taking it seriously.

@Egghead68 although to me those graphs look as though your heart rate is fairly steady and then presumably increasing when you are more active? Mine, and I think the OPs, vary massively when just sitting on the sofa. Also my baseline starts at around 100 when I wake up and is 60 by the evening so my graphs would look very different. I should probably try out a continuous monitor!

It’s perfectly normal to have a low resting heart rate in your sleep, your body has reduced need for cardiac output. Heart rate can reduce by 20-30% of normal resting heart rate during deep sleep phases. My HR is often 40bpm during deep sleep.

@ZealAndArdour - that's reassuring to know, thanks

I was reading an article today in a running magazine and there was a study done on athletes post Covid. Many of them had higher than average Resting heart rates for 80 days post Covid, some as long as 120 days. The study also found that the heart rate would dip below normal
too from time to time. So it’s definitely something that happens after Covid. Always worth getting it checked out though.

Mine drops low when I sleep - down to high 30s/low 40s. But I run a lot too so normal RHR for me is about 53. It was noticeably higher after Covid for a while.
