Day 1 (but suspect 2) - have a sore throat and am a bit tired - but otherwise fine. What do expect?!

Have got covid, and don’t feel too bad. I’ve had all three vaccines.

Does it get progressively worse? I have a sore throat and am a bit tired but that’s it.

I took an ibuprofen before I realised I actually had it - which I know you’re not meant to do - whoops.

Am I likely to feel worse?!

i’m sure this has been asked a million times! It’s my first covid experience so I don’t know what to expect!

lurchermummy

I can relate to the hangover feeling! I had a general anaesthetic a few months ago and I feel now how I felt when I woke up after my op.
Tired, dizzy and drugged up!

ElegantlyTouched · 10/05/2022 10:46

Thanks @ICannotRememberAThing ! Beecham's Max is definitely helping, and I'll ask him to get me some more this evening. DD eventually had a nap at 4 yesterday (though I was ready for one at 11!!!) but then DP took her for an hour later on, and he's going to take her out for a walk this evening so I have that to look forward to.

Is anyone suffering from insomnia? The last two nights have been bad, despite my exhaustion I've just not been able to sleep. Last night was awful, everything felt wrong - duvet too heavy, pillow and sheet uncomfortable, too hot and too cold... I ended up reading on the sofa with some nutmeggy milk.

I’m awake on and off throughout the night 🙁 It’s horrible.
Really weird, vivid dreams when I do nod off too.

Day 6 here (I think… )
I’m still a bit snotty, very tired and just a little bit dizzy still. Brain fog is the worst of my symptoms at the moment.

Careerchanger88 · 10/05/2022 13:25

I feel almost completely better now - just a few sneezes and a runny nose. But I’ve got my energy back, I don’t have a headache or a sore throat, etc.

Thank god for the vaccines!

Have you taken a negative test?
I took one this morning but I’m still positive and still feel very off.

Tanfastic · 11/05/2022 12:53

I'm on day 4 having started with symptoms on Sunday night. First time I've had it. Tested negative Sunday, Monday and Tuesday morning. Only got a positive yesterday.

I felt worse on Monday when I had body aches, sore throat, dizziness, freezing and hot and generally feeling ill.

Yesterday all the above was replaced with a cough. Today I've the added bonus of a cold. But I feel now just like I've got a bad cold and cough. Still working from home okay (NHS) admin). I'm hoping I'm over the worst. My mum also has it and she's mirrored my symptoms but started a day earlier and feels so much better today so I'm hoping that will be me tomorrow.

I've had worse bouts of tonsillitis to be fair. I can't cope with body aches etc so Monday was by far my worst day.

Hope everyone feels better soon.

lurchermummy · 11/05/2022 19:15

Day 10 for me and most of the symptoms have gone apart from my chest still feels a bit heavy and I have a cough.

Still quite tired though and feel like my legs are weak.

Still testing positive as well which is annoying! However I fully intend to go out and about as tomorrow will be day 11 and I doubt very much I will be infectious.

lurchermummy · 11/05/2022 19:20

By the way, electrolyte tablets from Amazon dissolved in water are very good at rehydrating you and taking away the headache and tiredness.

Tanfastic · 11/05/2022 19:22

Well just as I thought I may be feeling better ish a new set of symptoms have appeared. Noticed yesterday that my food tasted a bit bitter like it was laced with something. Today I can't taste a thing and I can't smell at all, even vicks vaporub!

I've also got the shivers and shakes again.

It's just the gift that keeps on giving.

Tanfastic · 11/05/2022 19:23

Think I'm going to spend a couple of days taking it easy now I.e not working from home.

liveforsummer · 11/05/2022 19:26

My line was strong form the off - my symptoms came out of nowhere and tested positive an hour later. The first 2 days were the worst.

IamSamantha · 11/05/2022 22:24

I'm on day 5. Faint line still showing.

Day 1, head cold
Day 2+3 in bed, body hurt, slept, snotty etc
Day 4 dizzy, tired, no voice, cough, sore throat.
Today (day 5) I'm dizzy, temp and if I do anything I feel wiped out and hurt. Cough and chest a bit sore.

Planker · 12/05/2022 13:11

Well I am on day 9 (or 10) and finally the test is NOT showing positive. I still feel rough though - I am very surprised as rarely fall ill with colds etc.

oh and I have completely lost my sense of smell - and taste to a lesser degree.

I am just relieved that I have stayed well away from DH so it's unlikely that he'll have caught it from me.

Horrible illness. I don't want it again.

I took one this morning but I’m still positive and still feel very off.

I have run out of lateral flows! I need to buy some more and test. I think it’s probably out of my system as I am completely asymptomatic but haven’t been anywhere yet just in case.

Out of interest, I know they’re not free anymore, but how much do they cost now??

Our local chemist has LF tests on sale for £2 each.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 12/05/2022 19:43

Can I join?
Started coughing Tuesday afternoon pretty continuous tested....negative...then just slept as normal Tues night.
Yesterday had a pounding headache and my legs hurt like they do after spin class. So bad. My cough wasn't as bad though...tested again and negative. Today felt quite a lot better. Bit of a tickly throat but generally fine. Then tonight I just feel like I'm hungover. Tested again...positive.

So even though I tested positive tonight I'm pretty sure Tuesday would have been day one....

Yes I'd say the day you started with symptoms would have been day one. I work for the NHS though and day 1 doesn't start until you test positive which was day three for me.

Tanfastic · 12/05/2022 20:54

Day three for me that was supposed to say.

LivinLaVidaLoki · 13/05/2022 06:47

The nhs email I've had says I need to try and stay away from people for 5 days. Would that be 5 days from symptoms or positive test?

Tanfastic · 13/05/2022 09:23

I would say five days from when symptoms start because generally LFT's don't show up for two or three days for most people I know. I caught it from my sister when she was testing negative but having symptoms.

Having said all that. Our trust policy (nhs) says we have to isolate from day 1 of a positive test so for me that was day three of symptoms Confused

User48751490 · 13/05/2022 13:16

Tested positive this morning. Feeling very fatigued, cold symptoms etc. Taking ibuprofen and paracetamol regularly. No fever.

Hope everyone else is having a speedy recovery. How are you OP?

ICannotRememberAThing · 14/05/2022 12:59

Day 9 here and I’m finally testing negative.

I haven’t been able to taste or smell for the past 2 days (I could up until then) - brain fog has lifted and fever, dizziness has gone but I’m sleeping loads.

Full nights sleep last night, woke at 7am and went back to sleep until around midday.

ElegantlyTouched · 14/05/2022 21:31

Day 8 from testing positive for me. Am mainly left with a runny nose, though I have very little energy. Finally got my dd out for a walk today, got about 100 yards before turning back (though mainly because she was tantrumming) but needed a child-free rest on my return. It didn't help that she tried to convince me the day started at 3:15 and didn't go back til sleep til 7, mind.

Still negative, though not as strongly as the last test which I took on Thursday. Here, in Scotland, at least, one can resume normal life on day 6 regardless of test result, as long as no temp and feel OK.

Jacky86 · 14/05/2022 22:00

Day 5 here.
Day 1: Sneezing non stop and exhaustion
Days 2& 3 Blocked nose & Chesty cough
Days 4&5 Blocked nose and very sore throat

ICannotRememberAThing · 14/05/2022 23:39

Spoke too soon re. Dizziness. I went out for an hour shopping and felt spaced out and dizzy. I’m fine sitting still.
