Update fron WHO on pediatric hepatitis. It is still not clear what is causing it, but this seems the right place to be keeping an eye on the data.

Bank holidays on Thursday and Friday so ONS weekly infection survey released today rather than the usual Friday www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/healthandsocialcare/conditionsanddiseases/bulletins/coronaviruscovid19infectionsurveypilot/1june2022

Results continue to head in the right direction:

1 in 70 in England, 1 in 75 in Wales, 1 in 50 in Scotland - all with a decreasing trend. 1 in 75 in N.Ireland although with trend uncertain.

The comparative graph (based just about on date of publication, just about as for graph simplicity weekly publication date defaults to a Friday, and the odd week such as this one of course has a slightly earlier publication) is just England.

It looks like it is heading for the sort of levels after "Freedom Day" last year. What do you think of what is happening currently with deaths? I thought the last lot of figures looked quite low, thank goodness.

this is just England - and using yesterday afternoon's release. Deaths (within 28 days by date of death) continue to fall. 10 day lag applied on these graphs.

then this is just 2022 daily figures plus seven day average , last ten days shown as dashed line for the seven day average as figures not yet fully complete

Health metrics in England - usual formats.

Starting with admissions, bearing in mind data a couple of days behind that for number in hospital. Most recent daily figure for admits 30th May as opposed to 1st June for number in hospital, number on ventilator beds.

number in hospital the seven day average getting ever closer to falling below 4,000 having been just below 5,000 a week or so ago

number on mechanical ventilator beds. Latest daily figure 123, with London accounting for 55 of these.

NHS England regional rates per million for admissions - just since 1st May

admissions - 7 day average and daily numbers for East of England and London, the latter flat over the past week

Midlands

North West and the North East and Yorkshire regions

finally for admissions the two Souths - East and West

North West with a very striking fall today as compared with yesterday (and the picture over a number of days leading in to that). Hope its real and not a data entry error
