I'm 37 weeks pregnant and tested positive yesterday I seem to managing ok with just rotating paracetamol. I need to pick DD up from her nans she's been there since Monday as she went to their holiday home in Wales with them.

DS is bored and wants to get out in the sun and I have a lot of things to get done OH does everything half arsed so I would rather just crack on with it myself instead of just lying in bed.

Is it ok do we think to just carry on or a big no no? Of course I don't want to make people sick.

I know we don't need to self isolate anymore but it still feels a bit odd not doing so.

@boredoffmatleave

OH has gone to get DD with DS and is picking the click and collect up later.

However it makes me wonder I get sick quite a lot due to my blood disorder my immune system is extremely weak. I'm normally wiped out from a common cold. I honestly thought if I ever caught covid that would be the end of me. But I feel fine to be honest apart from the constant headaches.

Do we really need to be self isolating over something that is so mild?

You are lucky it's mild for you, I'm fully vaccinated/boosted but have hardly been able to get out of bed for a week

@Wowzel

Of course it isn't ok, it just isn't illegal any more
This!!

@SleepingStandingUp

You have an OH problem not a covid problem.
Dunno - I think OP has a selfishness problem

It's personal choice as to whether you go out.
I would probably go out for walks or to the supermarket (during quiet times).
My niece had it recently and her employer insisted that she went into work as normal. She works in a sandwich shop.
Many employers have similar rules.

Lots of people can't WFH or afford to go without pay

Neurodiversitydoctor · 20/03/2022 13:26

Nothing from OP since 11am yesterday maybe not so mild.

Lilaclavenders · 20/03/2022 13:51

Given that this was the op's first ever post, I'm always a little suspicious...,

CocoLoco123 · 20/03/2022 14:09

My DH and I tested positive at the same time, I stayed at home for 10 days as I can WFH, but my DH had to go back to work after 5 days when he felt better, because government scrapped £500 covid payment and we can't afford for him to stay at home longer. It's all good saying that it's our moral duty to protect others when there's no financial support. It's government that should be held accountable, not regular people.

Really? I must have had over 200 user names easily. I always change user name when someone could out me in real life. If someone read through all my posts they wouldn’t believe anyone could have that much shit and would accuse me of making stuff up, when everything I ask for advice on is true.

I felt absolutely fine till day 4 after testing positive. I’d just had minor cold symptoms but come day 4 started with the fuzzy head, aches and needing to lie down. I wouldn’t assume you’ve escaped lightly just yet.
Kage30 · 20/03/2022 14:31

Isolation is no longer mandatory but its advised and most people still isolate. Just use your common sense.

Pick your child up but don't go in your parents house, stay distanced, take your kids out for a walk in quieter places and don't get close to anyone, take them for a run on the beach (if you have one nearby). Just Don't go to a busy place or a shop etc where you will have closer contact! Hope you feel better soon!

boredoffmatleave · 21/03/2022 10:17

I have name changed so not first post! Still the same really headaches and tiredness but I did start coughing last night seems worse when I lie down so no I haven't escaped lightly yet Blush

You are on day 2. I felt perfectly fine when I tested positive and for another 5 days. I was in hospital by day 7. Hopefully you will stay fine but please don't underestimate how very ill covid can make others even if you are fine.
MrsSkylerWhite · 21/03/2022 13:23

Please don’t. You may feel fine but lots of people won’t.

MrsSkylerWhite · 21/03/2022 13:24

“Do we really need to be self isolating over something that is so mild?“

Do you really not understand after all this time that it’s very serious for some people?

OnceuponaRainbow18 · 21/03/2022 13:32

@MrsSkylerWhite

And many people will be much worse off staying home; staying home for 10 days is mad for mental health, especially if you have young energetic kids

BogRollBOGOF · 21/03/2022 13:36

DS and I went out walking and cycling in very quiet places. It's very tricky to be a super-spreader when there's no other humans around in empty miles of fresh air.

When I was "ill" at Christmas, I went out walking late at night because it was easy to avoid the 1 dog walker per mile that was in the vincinity. I felt much better for fresh air and exercise to help me sleep and made a quick recovery.

Butteryflakycrust83 · 21/03/2022 13:48

SIGH.

You stay home and isolate. I personally would be ok going our for a walk early in the morning etc, but you absolutely should be staying away from people and indoor places.
