How quickly did you test negative?

Tested positive for the first time on Thursday. Reckon I was probably symptomatic from Tuesday night. Current symptoms hacking cough, blocked nose, upset stomach, can’t taste much either. Bit of a fever too but that seems to have subsided

I have a birthday event to get to this coming Thursday. What are the chances I’ll be testing negative by then? I know there is no legal obligation to isolate but there’s no way I’d go to a social function with transmissible covid.

On day 9 i was still positive
So I gave up testing after then

Onlywomengivebirth · 12/03/2022 19:07

Gosh. Ages. Day 11 I think. I’d been sick for a few days and clearly had it ( because my husband had tested positive) but only tested positive after I’d been unwell for about 4 days..

cheapskatemum · 12/03/2022 19:11

Literally 1.5 days, but I didn't have any symptoms either: took LFT required before going to work last Saturday, positive. Told to do PCR & got appointment Sunday morning. Took LFT Sunday evening, negative. PCR result came within half an hour of that & was positive. So I was positive for Saturday & half of Sunday.

AM130674 · 12/03/2022 19:11

Gave up at day 11.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 12/03/2022 19:12

Negative test on Day 7.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 12/03/2022 19:13

Tests were negative by day 5. Fingers crossed for you and hope you feel better.

Hobbes8 · 12/03/2022 19:14

I started feeling ill on Monday night and tested positive Tuesday morning. Very faint positive today (day 5) so hoping for negatives on days 6 & 7 and then freedom. It’s very slowly moved through my family so I didn’t test positive for 8 days after my son, so I’m so bored of being cooped up and having to swab myself.

DespairingHomeowner · 12/03/2022 19:19

Probably 50/50: I’m still testing positive on day 11

123feraverto · 12/03/2022 19:30

I had faint positive day 5 then day 6 was negative
But then say 7 was the clearest positive I'd had throughout , didn't bother testing after that

My symptoms were minimal - mild cold

This was the second time I had it, first time was December week before Christmas , second time positive on Valentine's Day 😂

Gosh, a mixed bag then

For those taking a while to clear, did you have it pretty bad?

I think I’m probably peak poorly thurs to today….I’m just hoping my body clears it

If I’m symptomatic guess my birthday celebrations will be postponed 😔 for a third year running!!

My daughter Day 5 &6 negative Single vexed but has had covid before Me day 6 today still strongly positive with symptoms I’m double vexed plus booster go figure!

InMySpareTime · 12/03/2022 21:10

Got a routine PCR + result (3rd day since specimen date) and immediately took a Lateral Flow, which was negative, as was the one the next morning.
I never had symptoms so don't know at what "Covid day" I took the +VE PCR.
I wouldn't even have known I had it were it not for the routine test (ONS study).

Youngatheart00 · 13/03/2022 07:45

Is there no chance I’ll test negative with any kind of symptoms remaining ie a lingering cough or stuffy nose? I guess I just don’t want to be infectious, even if I can tolerate feeling a bit rough.

It’s a minefield for sure, was almost better when you knew it was straight isolation for 10 days. Now it’s the not knowing!

Faint positive day 5 negative days 6 & 7. Positive again day 10, negative day 12, negative PCR (REACT study) day 16.

WellBrewedNoSugar · 13/03/2022 11:00

Stopped after day 10 despite still a reasonably strong positive line

ShowOfHands · 13/03/2022 11:03

I never had a positive lft but was really ill with Covid.

SmallestInTheClass · 13/03/2022 17:30

Day 12

Lotoro · 13/03/2022 18:11

You may be lucky. I tested negative day 6 and day 7 (yesterday and today). Day 5 was a paler line after very strong lines day 1-4.

upperdown · 13/03/2022 20:21

All lft negative, positive PCR and very poorly 3 weeks. Makes no sense!

tulippa · 13/03/2022 21:34

I had very mild symptoms. My first negative was on day 8.

IKnowYouDontTurnTheLightOn · 13/03/2022 21:38

I'm on Day 2 - what day can we go out again even if testing positive still?

LightSpeeds · 13/03/2022 21:46

I'm day 7 now and still testing positive.

BIWI · 13/03/2022 21:55

First symptoms on Friday 25/2. Negative LFT on Saturday 26/2. Positive test on Monday 28/2 - very, very dark 'T' line came up, before even the 'C' line showed.

Friday 4/3 tested negative. Also tested negative on 5/3 and 7/3.

Day 10, even if still testing positive. I won't be testing on day 10.

I thought you couldn't go out till you'd had two consecutive negative tests?
