Hi all can someone help me. I currently have covid and have been testing dd as its impossible for me to isolate away from her. Tested her this morning and it was a clear negative. It was infront of me for the whole 30 mins. Then I held to the light to double check and couldn't see a line then went to register it and there was a line. Has anyone else's taken this long to show from a clear negative. I know this is probably a stupid question but because I have it you don't think I could have contaminated the test in anyway do you? Because I coughed as I was holding it to the light and attempted to put my arm around my mouth when doing so and may have gone on the test but the test would have already worked by then surley so no droplets would have infected it? I only have 1 test left until some more come hopefully tomorrow.

The tests are confusing me too :(

Justyou · 06/03/2022 08:43

My dd’s test was negative, it was left on the side , when we went to throw it away after half hour/45 mins it was a faint positive.
It was a strong positive that night.

FawnFrenchieMum · 06/03/2022 08:45

My DS’s did this then the next day it was a stronger positive in the correct time.

OutlookStalking · 06/03/2022 08:48

I suspect its "brewing" tbh.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 06/03/2022 08:49

Same as PP DS was a very very faint grey line well after the 30 min wait time, next morning was a definite positive line within minutes

Miracle29 · 06/03/2022 08:59

So I haven't contaminated it? I've never seen one that's that much of a clear negative to positive like that. I've always seen them to show a line straight away even when faint. Never from ear positive like that. I'll have test again tomorrow. I was hoping I'd done enough to stop her getting it.

From clear negative not ear positive

Why not do another one?

FawnFrenchieMum · 06/03/2022 09:19

I would wait until tonight or tomorrow morning before doing another one.

SheWoreYellow · 06/03/2022 09:20

I’d wait and retest tomorrow morning, so you have a clear answer for school/nursery.

Miracle29 · 06/03/2022 09:21

I will do another tonight or tomorrow morning. Just wanted to see what people's thoughts were. The line is pink and thin aswell. Mine were all thick lines so that's threw me abit aswell.

The test has not turned positive by you coughing on it. If that was possible then we wouldn’t need to swab our tonsils would we?
I suspect your daughter will test positive tomorrow.

Sportsnight · 06/03/2022 09:26

My daughters was like this. Completely clear even at thirty minutes, but i left it on the side some reason and when I looked at it as I put it in the bin, there was a line. She came out with it properly the next day.

onwardsandupwards22 · 06/03/2022 09:53

Friday AM test negative. During the day I had a headache and sore throat. Saturday AN v faint, had to squint at the 30 min mark. Today it's a lot stronger.

OutlookStalking · 06/03/2022 10:02

Faint thin line counts. They've added that to the information booklet.

Miracle29 · 06/03/2022 10:11

Thanks everyone will test again tonight or tomorrow. I new a faint line counted as mine was faint in the week before I got a strong one but mine was a thick faint line not thin. @berksand beyond that is a valid point. My brain just isn't with it and just thought maybe a little droplet could have done something to the test.

Iggly · 06/03/2022 10:26

I would test her tomorrow. No point this evening.
Can anyone get some tests for you?

Miracle29 · 06/03/2022 13:32

Here is the picture. Has anyone had one looking this skinny?

Test completely negative until dead on 30 mins

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 06/03/2022 13:57

That is a clear positive. Doesn’t matter if the line is thin or thick.

Jules912 · 06/03/2022 14:09

You may well have contaminated it, especially if the line didn't appear until after you coughed on it. Only thing you can do is repeat it.

TheBareTree · 06/03/2022 14:20

That’s definitely positive

worriedatthemoment · 06/03/2022 14:22

My ds line was very faint and took a while to show him and dh were nearly out the door when I spotted it, the next day he got a strong positive

worriedatthemoment · 06/03/2022 14:23

Now i have seen your picture thats even clearer than my ds was

Miracle29 · 06/03/2022 15:00

Just done my last one and negative so I'm guessing I contaminated it...didn't actually think that was possible but I must have.

Miracle29 · 06/03/2022 15:23

Oh no I might be wrong a faint lines appeared, after the 30 mins though...Good gosh I'm so confused!
