Post covid fatigue

Is there anything I can do to get over this post Covid tiredness? Ive been taking a tonic for a week but still feel like Ive been hit by a bus after a 10 hour sleep.

When I actually had Covid I didnt have that many symptoms and went back to WFH after 3 days. Starting to regret that now.

It's possible you may need to rest for a week or so.

Some seem to mention b12 and Vit d can help. (Id take a b complex as well as extra b12.)

But it's likely that you need to rest

Onthedowns · 07/02/2022 10:07

I would be interested in this. I am thinking of getting some vitamins. Day 14 of having a negative test. Felt though for 2 days then day 7 i was back to normal.

However Friday i felt like i had been hit like a bus leg aches (never had with covid) and pure exhaustion.

I am hoping it's going to pass 🤞

Onthedowns · 07/02/2022 10:07

Sorry day 14 after having a positive test 🤦‍♀️

Babdoc · 07/02/2022 10:13

Rest, rest and more rest. I’m almost two years into long Covid fatigue, and pacing yourself is the only thing that helps. Too much exercise triggers a relapse. Build up to normal activities very slowly and gently, take a slow phased return to work, get regular early nights and plenty of sleep.

Patienceandgrace · 07/02/2022 17:51

I should have rested at the time but thought I was fine and went back to work Sad

@Onthedowns I had that leg pain along with backpain just before I tested positive.

Thats awful @Babdoc . So sorry you have had it for that long.

What tonic are you taking OP? My nana used to swear by them after a bout of bronchitis(which she seemed to have frequently)

FeyToThere · 07/02/2022 18:51

Watching with interest. 14 days since tested positive, and I'm feeling so tired.

I got Metatone It was recommended to me by someone else that had Covid. It worked for her.

Its only just got 7pm and I cant wait to go to bed.

My boyfriend had a fatigue lasting months (nine of them, unfortunately) so I hope that you find something to help.

WithASpider · 07/02/2022 19:13

I tested positive on Christmas Eve and am still dealing with the fatigue. Feels like I've been run over and I need an afternoon nap most days. I'm going to look into that tonic!

FinallyGotMe · 07/02/2022 19:13

Also following. I am really struggling, yet the narrative is Omicron is mild so I must be faking.

I've got from 10k runs twice a week, to not moving off the sofa. I'm only on week three so hoping it improves

MummyofTw0 · 07/02/2022 19:14

Gosh I am the same x

CruCru · 07/02/2022 19:23

Please take the time to rest and recover. Avoid (excessive) alcohol and get lots of sleep. There’s an assumption that someone who was unwell should immediately perk right back up but this is not always the case. The idea of convalescence is no longer fashionable but it isn’t a bad notion.

WarriorN · 07/02/2022 20:49

I had no idea you had been so poorly babdoc, I'm so sorry.

My husband raced back to the office last week but this evening is looking very tired and says he's freezing. Bit worried as that's what I've been having before extreme exhaustion.

I've rested loads for a few days and was actually brighter today but no idea if what I've done today will backfire tomorrow.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 07/02/2022 20:55

There is some research into this that suggests that long covid and more mild post covid fatigue is very, very similar to B12 deficiency. I'm covid+ at the moment but shall be getting some feroglobin b12 liquid once I'm out of iso to see if that helps.

dahliaaa · 07/02/2022 21:21

Just adding myself to this thread (I'm all the others !Hmm)
5 weeks since tested positive and really struggling with daily awful headaches and dizziness.
It's really worrying me now.

mulberrybag5 · 07/02/2022 21:44

Googling vitamins!

HoldenCaulfieldismyhomeboy · 08/02/2022 00:12

@Babdoc I agree, too much exercise triggers a relapse. I recently had one and felt horrendous thought I had covid all over again. I was a runner before covid, 5-10k 3 times a week. I'm constantly stopping and starting with it now because I feel so knackered and depressed and have lost all interest.

All4Love · 08/02/2022 07:43

I'm still having myalgia since having COVID in 2020. Not hospitalised -just "mild". This seems to be the new normal for me and I know a lot of people who are still experiencing breathlessness, muscle pain, fatigue. People who had COVID in 2020.

My plan is to try and not get reinfected with COVId because I don't know the long term effects of this this novel virus that affects the neurovascular system.

That's why I'm angry who those who advocated herd immunity.

lambchop81 · 08/02/2022 07:47

L Theanine

Mossstitch · 08/02/2022 22:08

The same as @Babdoc, nearly two years on and still need to use pacing strategies. Much improved but sometimes I wonder whether I've just got better at pacing🤷 I am over 60 though so it's easier as semi retired and can do bank shifts whenever I like. I find it better to work one day then have a day off but realise that younger people with children will not have this luxury so try to rest as much as you can. I can sleep for 10 hours after a day on the ward but I will try B vitamins so thanks for that information.

I commented on another thread that I had experienced this. I am struggling to get back to my pre-covid running levels, which were very similar to yours. Every evening my legs ache, even on days I haven't been for a run.

Babdoc · 08/02/2022 23:02

I was speaking to a colleague (I’m a retired hospital doctor) who’s a respiratory consultant - he said that all his long Covid patients do seem to be improving, and most of their symptoms settle eventually, although it can take a long time. So keep your spirits up, fellow sufferers, and just gently increase your exercise limit with plenty of rest days in between. We will all get there in the end!

Hedonism · 09/02/2022 08:23

@Babdoc that is encouraging, thank you!

Patienceandgrace · 09/02/2022 17:16

Thanks @Babdoc its good to hear it does get better.
