Is there anything I can do to get over this post Covid tiredness? Ive been taking a tonic for a week but still feel like Ive been hit by a bus after a 10 hour sleep.

When I actually had Covid I didnt have that many symptoms and went back to WFH after 3 days. Starting to regret that now.

Had first hit of covid early 2020 and felt low after that , fatigue and breathlessness mostly ...seemed to be getting better then had heart attack in September (4 stents) and then covid again in November...currently absolutely wiped out most days and actually quite worried about myself .

Patienceandgrace · 10/02/2022 19:23

What makes it worse is that things that help one person arent helping some others. The tonic I am taking is not helpig so I'll have to move onto one of these other suggestions this weekend.

To pp who mentioned migraine/headache, I had that this week too. Felt stronger than a headache but not as strong as a migraine.

Im working from home which just about makes it tolerable. Theres no way I'd be able to do this with a commute too.

Im actually waiting for 8yo to go to bed so I can go myself too.

Following as I am day 9 and having lots of strange symptoms. For the first 3 days of testing positive I was absolutely floored - felt dreadful with a mild temp, skin soreness and sensitivity, awful cough and pleuritic chest pain and couldn't get out of bed. Then day 4 suddenly felt so much better aside from tiredness and coughing.
I am still so fatigued though, and concentration on anything other than simple day to day stuff is so poor. My bum and thigh muscles are so stiff and painful, like I've run a marathon - and I get cramps at night. I also keep getting random painful sore spots, tonight my big toe is strangely painful and tender, yesterday it was my thumb. My 7 year old who had it at the same as me is having exactly the same thing.
I've been taking Vitamin D and C and trying to eat plenty of green leafy vegetables.

Omg I just started a similar thread. Placemarking while I go back and read this one

stressedy · 10/02/2022 21:00

yes still tired and mine was at xmas..

WarriorN · 11/02/2022 04:03

Jeeeze the insomnia! Dh is worse that me. Wtf!

Patienceandgrace · 11/02/2022 06:21

@WarriorN do you and DH have the same symptoms?

My DH and DC are fine now. Im the only one here thats been hit by the tiredness. I slept 8 until 6 and still feel groggy after waking up.

WarriorN · 11/02/2022 06:54

Yes very similar throughout. He doesn't seem to have been hit by the same level of fatigue this time last week but does seem to be starting to now. But he's been "pushing through." He's also been struggling with feeling v cold as I have.

Lizzy1980 · 11/02/2022 07:12

I had Covid in July and only returned to work part time in January. I can’t describe the tiredness I still feel. I have suffered with Insomnia on and off my whole adult life to the point where I’ve needed several courses of sleeping tablets. I’ve gone from one extreme to the other, I couldn’t sleep and now I can’t stay awake.

ItsSnowJokes · 11/02/2022 07:19

Look into pacing, it is what ME/CFS sufferers are told to do. From what I can gather long covid is very similar to ME with the fatigue aspect (not all symptoms). Pacing can really help manage day to day life.

WarriorN · 11/02/2022 21:18

I've been pacing a bit this week.

One week of "the fug" complete (started on day 9/10) and I feel I woke with a layer less this morning. Hope it continues but but expecting it to be quick.

SquigglePigs · 11/02/2022 21:22

I'm 4 weeks post covid (5 weeks from onset) and in the last week I've started to feel much more normal again if that's at all reassuring. DH had it a couple of days after me and was largely asymptomatic apart from the tiredness and that lasted 2-3 weeks. Hope you start to soon too.

homeappliances · 12/02/2022 08:19

The mornings and late afternoon/ evenings are the worst times of day for me. Trying to rest and pace myself and have seem some improvement over the past 3 weeks.
Sometimes I feel this wave of fatigue fall on me like a veil, very hard to explain.

middleager · 12/02/2022 09:15

I'm 5 months on from Covid and am awaiting blood test results.
I have insomnia, fatigue and horrible memory and concentration issues.

How are you coping at work? I have a similar experience to you and I am really struggling. It's a fast paced, demanding role and my brain is in sludge.
Patienceandgrace · 12/02/2022 14:28

Hopefully @SquigglePigs

@homeappliances I know what you mean with the veil of tiredness. I have that today.
Had a long day at work yesterday then took DS to rugby. When we got back I was so tired I couldnt even eat.
Slept 9-7 and have that overwhelming tiredess today. Really struggled to get out of bed this morning and really struggling to stay awake.

Pushing through the tiredness was the worst mistake I made. I ended up being off work for months. If your body is telling you it is tired please listen,

HoneyFlowers · 12/02/2022 18:01

Went to pharmacy and got energy/vitamin supplements and they have helped tremendously. Thinking of those still struggling so much.

misskatamari · 13/02/2022 10:27

I had it mid January and am still getting fatigued easily now. Rest rest rest when you can would be my advice. I think, especially with omicron, we're being told it's "just a cold" and people are just powering through, but it can really come back and bite you on the arse. We need to give our bodies time to rest and heal.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but Nicole Sachs' latest podcast is about long covid (she's got a few more that she's done the last few years too). I've been using her advice (along with that in the curable app), to heal from chronic pain and fatigue over this last year, and lots of people are finding the work really helpful for the lingering post covid symptoms, such as pain and fatigue. It's all about calming our nervous systems which have been put into sustained fight or flight (something a lot of pain specialists think is a big driver in long covid). Might not be of interest, but I wanted to share incase it helps anyone (it really is a fantastic podcast, filled with so much wisdom) podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/the-cure-for-chronic-pain-with-nicole-sachs-lcsw/id1439580309

@misskatamari thank you for that

Justalittlebitfurther · 13/02/2022 18:43

@misskatamari thank you that’s helpful

Hedonism · 14/02/2022 13:12

So following on from a couple of weeks of tired aching legs, last night it was my arms! I felt as though I'd spent the day doing DIY, sanding or rollering or something. It's really odd.
