Is there anything I can do to get over this post Covid tiredness? Ive been taking a tonic for a week but still feel like Ive been hit by a bus after a 10 hour sleep.

When I actually had Covid I didnt have that many symptoms and went back to WFH after 3 days. Starting to regret that now.

Apparently in England operations are delayed till after 7 weeks as it's known that people can still be recovering and op recovery isn't as good if before.

So I do feel the virus can linger for a couple of months.

I had the rash last week too.

MyBookShelf · 27/02/2022 19:17

That's promising to hear @WarriorN. Hopefully not too much longer for me, if I follow your pattern.

WarriorN · 27/02/2022 20:02

Fingers crossed!

My Inlaws have had the rash for several weeks now. They've not tried antihistamine though, which I found helped hugely.

Not been back at work yet so this week will be a test 😬 I don't feel that awful hangy drugged feeling now though.

Hang in there 👊

@MyBookShelf

I'm on Day 22 and feel worse than when I was testing positive Sad Days 0 - 3 - mild cold like symptoms, sore throat, headache, glands up Day 4 - coughing started Day 5 - 11 - mild tiredness Day 12 - finally tested negative, but felt pretty tired so stayed off work Day 14 - took some iron tonic, which didn't agree with my stomach = violent D&V! Day 15 - started feeling REALLY tired, dizzy, light-headed but put to down to the D&V the day before, but its stayed ever since. Day 16 - short walk- all 500 steps of it, then had to return to bed and sleep the rest of the day Day 17 - today - unbelievably tired, dizzy and light-headed. Have to pace my days to get anything done, such as put a washing load on or drive to Sainburys, and then I sometimes do too much and the following day can do nothing. My back and hips ache from so much sitting and lying around and my calf muscles are throbbing today despite doing nothing. I'm due back at work tomorrow, so worried I really won't cope.
Hope this is reassuring but I felt like you pretty much day for day including when the nausea happened, and had extreme exhaustion just days ago - I could do one or two things a day, nothing more. Then yesterday I just started to feel normal again and today (day 21) I went for a two hour walk and felt fine.
MyBookShelf · 28/02/2022 09:22

Thank you @gingerhills. I'm feeling a little less lethargic today, but I'm wary of counting my chickens!

homeappliances · 28/02/2022 09:55

I started to feel more myself at 5 and a half weeks - but my recovery has been very up and down. Still having to be careful and not push it and pace myself. Anaemia and possible underactive thyroid (detected from blood tests) has made recovery harder. I also had a relapse after my period.

Returning to work on a phased return this week after 6 weeks - I'm really hoping that it doesn't trigger a relapse.

BlueCookieMonster · 28/02/2022 12:30

Day 13, I had a shower this morning and had to go back to bed. Feel like I’ve had a constant migraine the last few days, defiantly affected my balance as well.

frazzledquaver · 02/03/2022 19:44

@Finallygotme

My children's school has also reported fainting and three friends have been diagnosed with T1 diabetes, not necessarily linked but it is auto immune.

My tiredness is the other way around to pp. Dreadful in the morning and slowly increases during the day.

Type one diabetes diagnoses have increased substantially during the pandemic. 300% increase in the hospital for our county.
Patienceandgrace · 03/03/2022 19:03

Def agree with the others about the body being run down for a while after it.

My tiredness finally left last week (about 5 or 6 weeks in) and then I got some kind of flu on sunday and am struggling badly with it. I feel like my body has been so impacted that the things which I would consider minor illnesses before are really difficult to manage.

WarriorN · 03/03/2022 20:54

I'm finally ok energy wise and fine after a day at work (bar fingers and toes feeling a bit odd, very tingly. Almost like they want to be chill blaines).

Which is in the 6th week.

I do think my period gave me a sort of relapse though, end of week 4.

Anxiety has been through the roof, but partly going back to work. I do think the actual virus affected my mood hugely.

Still struggling with some words. Not sure if because I've just been so out of it.

CorsicaDreaming · 09/03/2022 02:30

@HoneyFlowers

Went to pharmacy and got energy/vitamin supplements and they have helped tremendously. Thinking of those still struggling so much.
@HoneyFlowers - please can you advise which supplements you are using? (Brand / name / etc)? Thanks

We now have the winter flu Sad its tearing through DS school with over half the students out sick.

I'm just reading all your posts. I felt better around Day 30 and then suddenly got worse again around Day 45. My blood tests showed I was low on folic acid and my GP has referred me for an ECG because my heart rate is irregular. I'm back to sleeping most of the day. I used to be able to walk for hours and did yoga every day. Now I can't walk for more than 15 mins without getting chest pains and can't do yoga without feeling lightheaded. I genuinely feel at the end of my tether with it.

Patienceandgrace · 18/03/2022 09:42

Sorry to hear that @AnnesBrokenSlate
It is very frustrating not knowing when or if we will be back to our normal selves.

Hi, I did never experience fatigue like after covid, I had a blood test one week after registered negative lft and my ferritin was 12, down from 48 in October, started iron supplements and felt amazing within a week

Januarypip · 18/03/2022 18:20

@Patienceandgrace what's winter flu?

Thisisconfusing · 18/03/2022 18:43

Day 35 here . Still experiencing some fatigue . It is getting better but initially the fatigue was crushing . Unfortunately people think post viral fatigue is like being a bit tired . It isn’to it is overwhelming .
I have a friend who was overwhelmed by post Covid fatigue when she went for a walk ( having felt much better ). It came on suddenly and was so unable to move that she lay down on the muddy path. Covid isn’t a mild cold or the flu sadly .

WeirdlyKind · 18/03/2022 19:13

I had Covid in September 2021 and I'm still not right. Struggling with digestive problems (horrible reflux, stomach ulcer symptoms, ibs symptoms) and the tight chest/breathlessness seems to come and go. I had a cold recently and I'm back to feeling horrible. Also struggling a hell of a lot with anxiety which can't be helping! I'm also exhausted through the day then can't sleep at night (even if I'm not napping!).

I just want to feel normal again!

Re headaches - I had awful ones for about three weeks after and they just suddenly stopped!

AnnesBrokenSlate · 18/03/2022 20:31

I'm glad you felt better after a week on supplements. Selfishly, I hope mine will have a similar effect.
Patienceandgrace · 18/03/2022 20:46

Sorry @Januarypip its just the normal flu. Have no idea why I called it winter flu!

Must check out how much iron is in the new multi vitamins I'm taking and will maybe ask for a blood test to check my iron levels.
