I'm triple jabbed so why am I so ill?

I know covid vaccinations don't stop you contracting the virus or passing it on.

I've had Covid for a week. I'm not awfully, awfully ill. But I'm pretty ill and just when I thought I was feeling slightly on the mend, I now seem to be going into the tiredness phase where everything is exhausting.

If I hadn't had the vaccines would I most likely have been much more ill? Or is it that I've caught a strain that the vaccines were never going to work against?

Can't help wondering why I'm feeling so crap when I've had all 3 jabs.

No, no doctor ever said it stops transmission.

""Vaccinated people do not carry the virus – they don’t get sick,” Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the CDC

"When you get vaccinated, you not only protect your own health and that of the family but also you contribute to the community health by preventing the spread of the virus throughout the community," Fauci said. "In other words, you become a dead end to the virus"

"Excited to share that updated analysis from our Phase 3 study with BioNTech also showed that our COVID-19 vaccine was 100% effective in preventing #COVID19 cases in South Africa. 100%!"

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 23:13

@theusuall

More people are vaccinated than unvaccinated. But proportionally, more unvaccinated are seriously ill in hospital.

I'll repost the Swiss data

lenews.ch/2022/01/26/overwhelming-majority-of-icu-patients-in-switzerland-unvaccinated-show-data/

KurtWilde · 27/01/2022 23:13
@KurtWilde how nice for you. I had COVID in March 2020 and it was the sickest I've ever been by far. Worse than flu, worse than amoebic dysentery, worse than malaria, worse than typhoid, and none of those was a walk in the park. Do you think all those that have died or been hospitalized were just faking?
Oh sorry am I supposed to say I was super ill when I wasn't?

XenoBitch · 27/01/2022 23:13

Utter cobblers and the opposite is known and evidenced to be true

So 'evidence it'.
I am fed up with people telling me I will DIE cos I am not vaccinated.

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 23:15

From my link above.

On 25 January 2022, a study published by Zurich University Hospital found that 97% of Covid-19 ICU patients since the start of Switzerland’s Covid-19 vaccination campaign were unvaccinated.

In addition, the overall condition of the vaccinated patients was better than that of the unvaccinated Covid-19 patients at the time of admission to intensive care. They had fewer lung problems, were less likely to need mechanical ventilation, had less impairment of their heart and circulatory function and suffered less from coagulation and kidney dysfunction. This resulted in an average length of stay six days shorter than among unvaccinated patients.

FrazzleRox · 27/01/2022 23:16

Are you taking loads of supplements? As a minimum Vitamin C (to bowel tolerance), vitamin D, zinc and quercetin. Hope you feel much better soon.

theusuall · 27/01/2022 23:16

@Tealightsandd the data is per 1000 people so how does the "but more people are vaccinated" argument work?

It doesn't matter if 100,000 people are vaxed and 1000 people are unvaxed if the data is showing # per 1000 people.

Pinkrose1111 · 27/01/2022 23:16

@Argealanlea well the truth is we don't know how many of those "hospitalisations" are actually due to covid or if they were in hospital for something else completely unrelated and just tested positive for covid while already in hospital.

This happened to my mum she has stage 4 cancer in her stomach wasn't able to eat much for 2 weeks so needed to go to hospital for IV drip to get her sugar levels/nutrients up. They tested her for covid and it came back positive and stuck her in a covid ward for 2 weeks, despite her having zero covid symptoms and the only thing being wrong with her was her feeling slightly week because of the cancer. A few of other people have said that this has happened to others they know aswell.

AskingforaBaskin · 27/01/2022 23:17

Lolamento
Are you going for more boosters?
Where’s that come from? We’re not being asked to go for more boosters?

There is a fourth vaccine that some of the most vulnerable have already had. I am going to assume this will also be rolled up but that is just my thinking.

theusuall · 27/01/2022 23:18

@Tealightsandd again, what use is the data from what, December 2020 in Switerzland when we have data from Omicron in Scotland showing the opposite is true? Confused

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 23:22

But it's not showing the opposite. More people are vaccinated than not. Proportionally more unvaccinated are in hospital - particularly ICU.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 27/01/2022 23:28

DH had covid before the vaccines, but tired for a few days. The rest of the family didn’t catch it.

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 23:29

Generally with cancer patients - having to fight Covid as well as cancer reduces chances of survival, and will make them more unwell all round. Obviously there will be some outliers but the majority will be at increased risk.

It's a huge concern that so many vulnerable patients (cancer, and other underlying conditions) are at risk of catching Covid in hospitals. HEPA filters would help.

I'm sorry about your mum's cancer Pinkrose1111 and wish her well Flowers

jmpt29 · 27/01/2022 23:30

Unjabbed here, I tested positive 1st December, my only symptom was loss of taste and smell. I actually worked from home throughout my isolation, a colleague that was double jabbed at the time also off was very poorly and still suffering from what I assume to be long COVID? From what I have personally experienced I can't see how the vaccine has helped, the only people I know that have been particularly ill, although not hospitalized have been vaccinated friends an relatives. My 3 children and husband also never tested positive whilst I had COVID or after. All unjabbed. I don't think you can say either way to be honest

theusuall · 27/01/2022 23:31

There is no proportionally when we are talking about hospitalisations per 100k.

Since Omicron became the dominant variant, you are more likely to catch it, and be hospitalised with it if you are double vaccinated.

It's literally there in the data.

Cases - 923 per 100k (of unvaccinated people) vs 2418 per 100k (of vaccinated people).

I don't know how much clearer I can make this? It doesn't matter the proportion of the pop vaxed because they are separated out in the figures to get the per 100k number? Confused

Is that data age standardised?
wedonttalkaboutmyposts · 27/01/2022 23:31

I'm triple jabbed and my covid positive toddler has coughed and sneezed right in my face today so I'm just waiting to see what happens. I'm hoping for an easy ride because no one is coming to help me. My husband is away on business for a few weeks and we have no family or friends near by so I can only keep my fingers crossed.

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 23:32

Obviously without mitigations (not restrictions), masks, vaccines, good ventilation, there are additional problems for cancer and other patients. Staff sickness including Long Covid and PTSD, plus beds full up with Covid patients.

PurpleDaisies · 27/01/2022 23:32

Quoted wrong post.

I can’t find where your original graphs are from. Covid mortality is strongly linked to age. Vaccine uptake is highest in older age groups. You need to look at age standardised data to see the effect of vaccines.

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 23:33

Wishing you well @wedonttalkaboutmyposts

Fingers crossed 🤞

BigSandyBalls2015 · 27/01/2022 23:33

Oh they’ve gone private!

BigSandyBalls2015 · 27/01/2022 23:34

Longer holidays 🤣

theusuall · 27/01/2022 23:34

@PurpleDaisies age standardised with 95% confidence interval

theusuall · 27/01/2022 23:35

@PurpleDaisies the data is from the PHS report

https://publichealthscotland.scot/media/11223/22-01-19-covid19-winterpublicationn_report.pdf
