I'm triple jabbed so why am I so ill?

I know covid vaccinations don't stop you contracting the virus or passing it on.

I've had Covid for a week. I'm not awfully, awfully ill. But I'm pretty ill and just when I thought I was feeling slightly on the mend, I now seem to be going into the tiredness phase where everything is exhausting.

If I hadn't had the vaccines would I most likely have been much more ill? Or is it that I've caught a strain that the vaccines were never going to work against?

Can't help wondering why I'm feeling so crap when I've had all 3 jabs.

you would probably be a lot sicker - I've had Covid twice first time knocked me for 6 - I was off work for 6 weeks and suffer recurring issues with my throat - this time - now I'm vaccinated and boosted - it was a heavy streaming cold and aches - managed to work through it - tired but coped - I hope you feel better soon x

It’s rubbish. I was the same. The vaccines are great at keeping people out of hospital but they don’t stop everyone catching it and feeling rotten with it.

Hoping you’re feeling better soon. Flowers

waterrat · 27/01/2022 21:43

I'm triple vaxxed and still feel unwell on day 10. Was in bed whacked for a couple of days then just felt mildly shit. Realistically presume without vax would have been much worse my kids however...unvaxxed and barely a sniffle

Anyone who says you would’ve been more I’ll without the jabs is guessing. Maybe you would’ve , maybe not.
You’ve done your bit though so hopefully that gives you some reassurance. Hope you feel better soon! Flowers

PurpleDaisies · 27/01/2022 21:46

I have seen so much anecdotal evidence that vaccinated people are suffering more with Omicron than unvaccinated.

Unvaccinated people are more likely to tell you they felt fine with covid. Vaccinated people are more likely to be surprised when they don’t.

Look at the proportions of people who have needed to go to hospital. It’s pretty obvious the vaccines are working.

Tealightsandd · 27/01/2022 21:47

They helped keep you out of hospital.

The problem is the way anything other than hospitalisation (and even that sometimes) has been reported as 'mild'.

I've said before, how even without a 'serious' case it can absolutely knock people out for several weeks.

Sorry you're feeling so rotten OP. Rest as much as possible. I hope you feel better soon Flowers

Well no they're not guessing. There's plenty of (global) data demonstrating how unvaccinated (or only partially) people are more likely to be hospitalised.
nocoolnamesleft · 27/01/2022 21:52

So you're not hospitalised? I think we may have different definitions on what constitutes "so ill"?

Iggly · 27/01/2022 21:52

You may have been worse without the vaccine?

When did you have your booster? It does wear off a bit (although still decent protection) after 3 months or so?

Maybe you didn’t produce decent antibodies after the vaccines (it does happen!)

dicdicnurse · 27/01/2022 21:53

I'm triple jabbed and on day 14, I felt fine ish for the first 10 days and then wham! I sank like a stone and felt horrendous, temp shot up etc. Today I just about feel able to open the laptop and consider work.
I feel as though I got it twice in the space of two weeks which I'm sure isn't possible!

Or perhaps the vaccine is working and that’s why he doesn’t feel unwell 🤨. The vaccines don’t stop you catching COVID
Lolamento · 27/01/2022 21:55

Are you going for more boosters?

whatisheupto · 27/01/2022 21:56

I appreciate the well wishes! It's kind of frigging annoying after managing to avoid it for 2 years.... I thought I'd got away with it. Scary to think how ill I'd be if I hadn't been vaccinated, if this is how it feels after 3 jabs!

Where’s that come from? We’re not being asked to go for more boosters?
BlackMagicWimpund · 27/01/2022 21:56

Bollocks! What about the actual evidence? Hospital figures show vaccines are working.

Always baffling when people base their opinions of what’s happening at population level on what a handful of their mates have said Confused

Yes, this. Feeling really quite rough isn't serious illness. Nor is feeling rough again just when you thought you were starting to feel better.
Ghostofchristmaspasty · 27/01/2022 21:59

I'm triple jabbed, caught covid a few weeks ago. Wouldn't have known I had it with out positive pcr ( after a contact)
I am so, so glad I had the vaccines. I will never know what it could have been like without but I don't fancy taking the chance!

whatisheupto · 27/01/2022 22:00

And yes I will have all the boosters. I had my booster jab just before Christmas, so symptoms started 30 days after booster.

JeeezLouise · 27/01/2022 22:02

The CDC released research on 22 Jan 2022 showing that a third dose of vaccine reduces your chance of hospitalisation by 90% (for Omicron) and 94% (for Delta).

I'm sorry you feel so unwell. However, all the scientific research suggests you would be likely to be much, much more severely affected if you were unvaccinated. The fact that you are not hospitalised, in ICU, ventilated or dead means the vaccine is working.

VelvetChairGirl · 27/01/2022 22:02

because your immune system is shit?

the vaccines dont fully work anyway especially on the later strains after the original chinese one they were made for and as they are reliant on training your immune system to fight a virus by mimicking it so you make antibodies to it, the amount of antibodies you make and how long they last is based on how shit or not your immune system is.

Exactly. Confirmation bias doesn't override actual data.

whatisheupto · 27/01/2022 22:06

Aha ye posters accusing me of being nesh. I saw you coming... hence writing:
"I'm not awfully, awfully ill. But I'm pretty ill...."

No mention of "seriously ill" in my post @TheFoundation! Feeling really quite rough is exactly right.

OP posts:
Lolamento · 27/01/2022 22:07

So that is two vaccines and a booster ever? I was under the impression that you will be invited for more boosters.
