Currently got covid in the house. 1 child no symptoms. 2 fevers.
What can I expect. When do symptoms peak or is there hope that kids will not get too many symptoms. Feeling so scared for them especially my baby.

Everyone is different

itsgettingweird · 24/01/2022 09:46

Experience I know of.

1 - cold and fever symptoms.
1 - extremely tired
4 - sore throat, sneezing and cold symptoms.

All tested positive within 48 hours of each other. Close contacts.

All had symptoms for 48 hours before positive LFT.

1 now has sore throat and sneezing. Expect positive within a few days!

All but the one with fever (who had worst symptoms) had minimum of 1 jab. Most triple jabbed.

4/6 were starting to feel better when they tested positive HmmGrin

Wnkingawalrus · 24/01/2022 09:50

All the kids I know who’ve had it recently had a day or two of fever and headache and then pretty much back to normal. All too young to be vaccinated.

altmember · 24/01/2022 09:53

It varies so much that it's impossible to say. Two of my kids had no noticeable symptoms at all, other one slept for 3 days and then developed a cough. I feel like I've got a cold without a cough.

Parkmama · 24/01/2022 10:53

DD day 1 temperature and very tired, day 2 temperature and very tired, day 3-7 no symptoms at all but still testing positive

DH -day 1 feeling tired and dizzy, day 1 very tired and shivery, day 2 very tired, shivery and cold symptoms, day 3 cold symptoms, day 4 light cold symptoms

Myself and other DD have not isolated from them at all at home and have tested negative throughout with no symptoms

ludocris · 24/01/2022 10:56

I'm on day 5. Mainly just bunged up with an occasional cough. Started with a mild sore throat. Will test soon but not optimistic I'll test negative yet as my other friends who are a day ahead of me are still testing positive.

DS has it too but he also has chicken pox and it's difficult to tell which symptoms are caused by what.

DanbyDale · 24/01/2022 11:02

Day 5 here.

All symptoms except a cough if I'm still. Cough constant if I move. Feel dreadful. Not sleeping isn't helping but I'm so hot. Awake till 5am this morning.

Absolutely shattered.

Can't focus on much for long, light headed. I'm also so hungry but have no taste. The texture of foods I love are awful without taste. Like eating 'stodge'.

DH is still negative but we are living separately within the house except for him cooking for me.

DanbyDale · 24/01/2022 11:03

Not day 5 - day 3 🤯😳

horseymum · 24/01/2022 11:05

Two days fever, then headache, sore throat, tiredness. Tiredness persisted till day 9, just building up stamina again now. Still positive by day 9 so dont expect early release. Hope they stay mild.

LargeYorkshirePuddingAndGravy · 24/01/2022 11:10

We found out Saturday that a kid my son (7) played with on Friday had tested positive so we LF tested him and it came back positive, no symptoms. Everyone else in the house negative.

Very early hours Sunday morning he woke vomiting and has had a very high fever, hitting 41 a few times but calpol has helped reduce it. He spent all of yesterday laying on the sofa drifting in and out of sleep. He also had a headache, very sore eyes and sore muscles. He's woken up today bouncing off the walls and complaining he's bored Grin still has a fever but other than that seems fine.

5 year old daughter still testing negative (as well as both adults) but she got a fever late last night and has been sleeping on the sofa today although she seems ok otherwise and hasn't been sick. She usually sky rockets with a fever when ill so I'm hoping she doesn't do that.

We all did pcr tests on Sunday so waiting results of those.

LargeYorkshirePuddingAndGravy · 24/01/2022 11:13

Both have had sore throats too

coribells · 24/01/2022 11:14

Day 6 here
Bunged up , body aches and pains
No energy to speak of or if I do get a burst of energy I then feel all achey again . No fever
DS 1 - tested positive yesterday
Sore throat and feeling a bit sick
DS 2 - no symptoms - LFT gone to school 🤣

Mamabear12 · 24/01/2022 11:23

Everyone is different. But mine started with sore throat 2 days, then fever, aches and pains for 3 days. Fever went and the aches, pains and fatigue stayed for two weeks. It sucked. My kids had nothing.

scotchbonnet79 · 24/01/2022 12:48

Son 16 and double jabbed
Day 1- light sore throat, negative lft
Day 2- no symptoms (PCR +)
Day 3- runny nose, and severe congestion

Now on Day 7, mix of light cold symptoms and congestion. Still having positive lft.

blackcurrantjam · 24/01/2022 13:07

Dc1 high temp looked pale puffy day 5+6 tested negative
Dc2 low grade temp looked puffy was ok though now day 6 temp looks rough
Dc3 no temp no symptoms absolutely fine (2yo)

Normandy144 · 24/01/2022 13:44

I'm on day 3 and feel fine. Yesterday I was tired and had aching legs/lower back. Took paracetamol and felt much better. First day I felt flush in the cheeks. Honestly, I've had much worse hangovers than this. Pre covid I would not have even considered myself ill.

2boysand1princess · 24/01/2022 14:30

Dc1 high temp looked pale puffy day 5+6 tested negative Dc2 low grade temp looked puffy was ok though now day 6 temp looks rough Dc3 no temp no symptoms absolutely fine (2yo)
How long did the DC1&2 have fevers? Hope all have made a full recovery now.
OP posts:
blackcurrantjam · 24/01/2022 17:59

Dc1 often gets high fevers. This time 2.5 days recovered quickly after that and tested negative much to his delight
Dc2 low grade fever for an evening and day 5/6 low grade fever again but still testing positive feeling rough.
Thx they're ok though. I've had it two and it was worse than I thought it would be!

blackcurrantjam · 24/01/2022 18:01

Sorry not very clear DC 2 low grade fever day 1 then ok then low grade fever again day 5/6
Quite different trajectories!

PaperMonster · 24/01/2022 18:33

I started with a headache and a swollen throat on Saturday. Was much the same yesterday. Today I’ve not got out of bed. The headache has been horrendous and my throat has been very dry. When I’ve got up for the loo, I’ve wanted to throw up. I’ve slept on and off. Feeling a bit brighter this evening though.

KatharinaRosalie · 24/01/2022 18:37

both my children had exactly 1 day of low fever and fatigue, DC2 also headache, and then back to normal. Just day 2 for DC2 and running around like a lunatic.

KatharinaRosalie · 24/01/2022 18:39

Oh and tested positive myself on Saturday, have been pretty much fine, mild tickly throat and a little tired maybe. 3xPfizer.

loloballlolo · 24/01/2022 18:41

I'm on day 5. Days 1-3 felt a little groggy / coldy. Day 4 waves of exhaustion and feeling really blue / depressed. Seemed to clear later in the day. Day 5 feeling a bit more rough and blue a slightly worse feeling of exhaustion for a few hours. Again cleared in the eve. Hope it clears for good soon!

Onlyrainbows · 24/01/2022 18:44

Day 1 - very tired (but I'm anemic so I just thought it was that) - and an itchy ear
Day 2 - sore throat (positive test), tired, headache
Day 3 - sore throat, a bit of a runny nose general aches and pains

Tryagainplease · 24/01/2022 19:31

DS who is 4 had 2 days of fever (brought down by calpol) he was also very thirsty. After 2 days he had mild cold symptoms and was tired a lot. He is on day 14 now and completely back to normal. Has been for a while.

I started with mild cold symptoms, slight sore throat and loads of sneezing. Mild headache and fatigue. All managed successfully with beechams and ibuprofen. I’m on day 9 and just have a cough now.
