Same old question… will I catch covid / how many days

My daughter tested positive on an LFT on Tuesday night. She had had a cough for a few days before but my husband had not done and LFT and I had been away for weekend… anyway I’ve been testing myself every day as I need to go out for work and I’m still testing negative. Is it too soon to think that maybe I haven’t got it? Everyone else in the house is testing negative. So I guess today is the fourth day after she got his first positive. I had Covid last summer but then so did the whole family , didn’t stop Dd from testing positive again! I am triple jabbed so don’t know if that helps. What are your experiences please? I don’t mind if I get it not ideal but I had it very mildly before. To be honest I’m surprised I haven’t got it by now as my DD coughed on me quite a lot in the past few days!!

Following! DH tested positive on Wednesday and I’m still negative. Hoping I’ve swerved it 😂

Here, DC2 tested positive. We all stayed negative until 6 days later, then DC1 tested positive. I'm currently still negative (double jabbed and boosted).

So, in my experience, still too early for you to breathe a sigh of relief.

Skybooks · 22/01/2022 14:19

DS positive Sunday, me weds night (I was neg weds morning before work but sore throat started about 9pm so I re tested) DH is still negative. We are both triple vaxxed and I'm 37 weeks pregnant so we are ticking time bomb for DH not to test positive.

randomsabreuse · 22/01/2022 14:24

No guarantees. I tested positive on day 8 after DD tested positive (DS on 5 and DH on 7). I'm still positive on day 6 so no freedom for me... Not felt ill at all since testing positive typically but felt shite on days 2 and 3 after DD's positive.mm

My kids all tested positive for covid the Tuesday before yours, and I tested every day (even had a PCR after 5 days), and stayed negative for a full week. Until the following Weds (8 days later!), when I finally got a proper headache and then a positive LFD.

I'm triple vaccinated, and made a vague attempt to distance from my kids once they'd come down with it (impossible with young kids and a small house). I was expecting to catch it within a few days. By day 5/6 I was beginning to think I'd got lucky and the vaccines had saved me, but no.

So I'd say you're no where near safe until at least a week after.

I’m in limbo too. DS positive by PCR Tuesday but symptoms probably building from Sunday. I’m still testing negative, but starting to feel a bit rough. He’s been sleeping in my bed so there’s no hope for me really!

BanginChoons · 22/01/2022 14:50

My son tested positive on Tuesday evening, and my other two kids tested positive today. I've had a negative pcr and n3gative lfts every day. I feel crappy today though so I've booked another pcr for tomorrow.. I'll let you know

dumbledory · 22/01/2022 18:11

DD tested positive on LFT, confirmed by PCR on Monday. So far, I'm still testing negative, despite her being in bed with me and the two of us carrying on as normal at home. For now, I live in hope that I've escaped it.

Policyschmolicy · 22/01/2022 18:35

Aaaand I’m positive. So that’s 4 days after DC, but I think I have probably had symptoms since Wednesday.

Keepgoing88 · 22/01/2022 18:40

Thanks I would be really interested in hearing all your updates

I felt slightly coldy on my DD day 9 but negative lft, a but more coldy day 10 but negative lft. Positive on her day 11. Don't know if I caught it from her or work (school).

DontWantTheRivalry · 22/01/2022 18:57

Wednesday morning: DH tested positive.
Friday morning: I tested positive.
Saturday morning (today): our eldest son tested positive.

We are all now patiently waiting for our youngest son to test positive too.

None of us have had Covid before.

AlandAnna · 22/01/2022 19:11

Husband positive Sunday night. I felt slight viral symptoms during the week but only got a positive LFT the following Saturday.

AlandAnna · 22/01/2022 19:13

(Had Covid March 2020). Both triple jabbed as of October. Mild symptoms although my husband felt quite rough and had a fever this time.

Aurorie11 · 22/01/2022 19:16

DD tested positive Monday (no jab too young), me this morning (triple jabbed) at the moment wouldn’t say I’ve got a cold, waiting to see what happens.
DH triple jabbed and had Covid in April and DS who should have had second jab this week but postponed due to his sisters positive.

Snakedoctor · 22/01/2022 19:24

I was hoping I had managed to avoid it, but not so sure after reading this thread! DD2 tested positive Monday, DD1 yesterday and DH this morning. I'll probably get it just as DD2 can go back to school!

MsAnnFrope · 22/01/2022 19:33

DD tested positive on Tuesday. So far DH and I are neg, he’s supposed to travel for work on Tuesday. I’m already unwell but not with Covid and I have a breathing condition which means I’m trying to keep away from DD while she is positive.
This isn’t going to end well is it??

monfuseds · 22/01/2022 19:35

Dc are on days 13 & 12. DH day 9, I'm still negative but unsure if I've escaped.

Abraxan · 22/01/2022 19:40

I tested positive on Thursday evening. Was negative in the morning but started to feel ill during the day so tested after school that day and it was positive.

So far dh is testing negative. He isn't isolating away from me and is still sharing same bed.

I tested positive in October 2020 too, again no real distancing or isolation. Dh and dd both didn't catch it that time.

SatinHeart · 22/01/2022 19:55

Toddler DC got a positive PCR on Monday (negative LFT the same morning). So far all the rest of our household are negative. We aren't distancing from each other at all.

theDudesmummy · 22/01/2022 19:57

DS positive last Saturday, I tested negative until this morning, even though already had symptoms last night it wasn't positive then. Did throat plus nose swabbing this morning and was positive.

Indecisivelurcher · 22/01/2022 19:59

Rats, was also starting to hope! Dd positive on Tuesday so we're only on day 4.

bluechilli47 · 22/01/2022 20:04

DH Friday, banished to master bedroom with en suite and room service but damage already done as DS Monday, me Tuesday. Make sure you throat swab as this is more effective.

MsAnnFrope · 22/01/2022 20:16

Yes we’ve been throat swabbing too. I’ll be gutted if DH or I get it as DD isolation is ending
