Anyone start with back pain?

I have heard that back pain can be part of Covid but wondering if anyone has had Omicron recently and it STARTED with back pain? My DD is positive now (since Monday) and I feel fine but have a really sore back since this morning for no apparent reason. Test is negative.

Yes - felt like I slept very funny. I tested positive the next day - I’d been testing everyday as my daughter was positive .

Stringervest · 20/01/2022 11:52

My friend had such bad back pain she ended up in A&E. Positive test a few days later when she twigged what might be causing it. It was her main symptom.

Crackingowlsanctuary · 20/01/2022 11:55

Yes first couple of days before other symptoms started

MissAmbrosia · 20/01/2022 12:01

I had really bad back ache at the start of last week. Thursday I felt quite under the weather, runny nose etc. Friday I felt awful and ached all over. Did an home RAT but it was negative. Felt crappy all weekend, and whilst I feel better I still feel really tired - so I think I have had covid but not 100%.

APurpleSquirrel · 20/01/2022 12:05

Yes DD started with back pain, then a temp & she tested positive a day later.

jobsagudden · 20/01/2022 12:11

Yes started with really bad back pain and a headache in the night. Tested positive next morning. Hope you're ok OP.

Locoooomotive · 20/01/2022 12:18

Thank you, I feel fine at the moment other than the back pain, I have had Covid before though (in March 2020) and it started VERY mildly and then got very bad so I am aware it can come with weird symptoms etc.

Dp did but back pain can be a huge amount of things plus you are probably just being more sensitive to any symptoms and thinking 'what if'.

My very first sign was extremely achey legs, like I had ran 5 miles but was still negative at that point so just carry on doing the tests for now... 💕

crosbystillsandmash · 20/01/2022 12:36

I did! I initially thought I'd slept funny or hurt it lifting too much at work.
Tested positive a few days later, so I'm thinking it was now an early symptom?

Locoooomotive · 20/01/2022 12:51

Yes so hard to know! Last time it was that awful leg aches, painful joints that i noticed first and just no energy. I don't feel like that so I am going to continue to go about stuff (with my achey back) and just test daily. I'm not seeing anyone anyway but obviously got bits and bobs to do.

That's so weird i had awful back pain starting on Sunday, then tested positive on Monday. I didn't think it was related but maybe it was!

Cleolola · 20/01/2022 22:32

Yes, back pain was my first symptom. I had back pain all day on Saturday and feeling tired but it was gone by the next day and I felt absolutely fine.
I was testing every day anyway as a member of my household had tested positive on the Friday, it was only on the Tuesday when I woke up with a very mild sore throat that I tested positive.

Thankfully, my only symptoms since then have been an upset stomach on Tuesday and a stuffy/runny nose the last few days.

Rainbowsandstorms · 20/01/2022 22:42

It was one of my husband’s early symptoms.

Pinetreesfall · 20/01/2022 22:48

Ooh this is really interesting! I've had a temp of 38 degrees, headache and really sore throat but it's the back pain that's nagging me the most. LFT negative so who knows what it is. Didn't know it could be a Covid symptom though!

Honeyishrunk · 20/01/2022 22:50

Yes I had back pain first too before my positive test.

Wargghhhh · 21/01/2022 06:43

I also had back pain out of nowhere and tested positive 2 days later..

Longandwinding · 21/01/2022 07:02

I had awful lower back pain after my booster jab... lasted over a week.. it was then that I found lots on anecdotal evidence between covid and back pain..I find it very odd!

TheVanguardSix · 21/01/2022 07:09

Both DS and I had lower back pain as an early symptom (and also rib pain for me).

2boysand1princess · 21/01/2022 09:51

Anyone have a back pain towards the end of catching covid, when they were recovering or just after?

Locoooomotive · 21/01/2022 10:09

All very interesting. I am still negative on the lateral flow but have back pain, stomach pains, nausea, tiredness, aching legs and eye ache today. Maybe it's something else and just a coincidence that DD has Covid but I am staying home anyway! I would order a PCR but of course I don't have any of the 'actual' symptoms.

Locoooomotive · 21/01/2022 10:10

@2boysand1princess for me with Covid 1 I had several weeks of upper back pain after the acute bit of Covid had worn off. It was pretty bad, between shoulder blade kind of area, i think it was inflammation of my lungs.

Im day 4 after a positive LFT but have had symptoms which I didn't realize were covid for well over a week. My worst symptom is the pain in my top of my back, shoulders and bottom of neck.

Sandyjag · 23/01/2022 17:02

Apparently it’s one of the top symptoms for omicron. I was Googling last night as I have covid now and lower back and hip pain were quite uncomfortable.

Partey · 23/01/2022 17:05

I feel like this now, very strong back ache. A bit like early labour pains my hips and thighs and sore, I’m sweating and my head doesn’t feel like it’s mine. Chest feels really tight too

Negative LFT Thai morning

Somethingsnappy · 23/01/2022 17:17

Your symptoms are exactly the same as my dh. But he didn't test positive until much later. The LF tests seem to take a while to get a positive after symptoms start.
