Hi

I tested positive on 23rd December... I was poorly for about a week. Felt like a very bad cold/ flu was mainly a very sore throat, exhaustion and just feeling poorly...

I went back to work on the 30th ( wfh in a public sector role) and felt ok..

But last week I felt increasingly unwelll... I am so so exhausted all the time, I also have problems with smelling and a bad stomach...brain fog also.....

Anyone else? And any tips to hekpe recover?

Day 8 (I think!) Well I'm back to feeling awful! Can't hold my head up again. Don't feel ill, just completely wiped out. Can't even be arsed to crochet or do my colouring.

I went out yesterday as felt OK. Drove to local retail park, felt fine. Walked around Pets at Home and bought some essentials we are running out of (dog, cat, rabbit and guinea pigs!) and found myself using the trolley for support. Got back in car and was absolutely exhausted and light headed. Grabbed a McDonald's at the drive through, hoping a sugary drink would temporarily boost my energy level and sat for 30 minutes before I felt able to drive home. I then sat on the sofa at 3pm and slept on and off until bedtime at 11. Slept through til 7 this morning before going back to sleep til 11. Just had a shower and it's half killed me!

Should add I've had my 2 negative LFTs.

HairyScaryMonster · 19/01/2022 14:15

Welp still feel like s**t on day 10. Needed a nap by 9.30 today 🙄 I just feel weak and tired constantly. And 'delightful' 7yo keeps arguing about doing any school work. Just don't have the energy to fight her.

BeQuietBrenda · 19/01/2022 15:39

Home schooling is out of the question, my 8 year old is playing the Ps4 and watching cartoons. I couldn't sit with him if I tried, plus my partner is WFH on the only PC in the home and we don't have a laptop.

I tested positive on Sunday after catching it from DD who tested positive end of last week.
Saturday/Sunday felt like a very bad head cold; headache, aches & pains; blocked nose etc. Monday felt much better & told DH to go back to work (both wfh), & I could manage DD (7) & DS (3). Big mistake! My head feels like a reverberation chamber & im super sensitive to any loud noise including the screaming/shouting/bickering/whinging of two small children who are completely fine/asymptomatic & bouncing off the walls but can't leave the house (have a garden but it's freezing & muddy & crucially they don't want to play out there). Have had to ask DH to take today off to give me a break so I can rest up a bit as I'll have them on my own tomorrow again. Not sure what we'll do on Friday.

SailorGeri · 19/01/2022 16:03

I'm day 13. I've been feeling fine but today I'm exhausted and feel nauseous. I went to bed this afternoon and slept for 1.5 hours.

Bowwowwowoh · 19/01/2022 16:25

This is entirely unscientific but it seems to me like the pesky thing invades the body for a few days and the person has cold symptoms, then the thing goes into hiding, or remission, or pulls up the drawbridge or whatever it is bloody well up to, because the person starts to feel better. Then it launches full on secondary attack.
The times people have been ill, then felt better, then it knocks them out for ages, just so weird. Exhaustion seems to be the common factor and that's the body's way of telling you to do nothing.

It's a shame the idea of convalescence has fallen so out of favour. People need time to recover from some viruses. It isn't always possible to jump straight back into normal life! But our society is so unaccommodating of that.

I think this is so true... I have tried hard to slow down and rest and feel so much better for it..

I think that's really wise of you, @funkystars123 - I do hope you feel more like yourself soon CakeThanks

I’m on day 3 or 4. I was rushed to hospital blues and twos on Monday. My first proper day sick

I can’t breathe. Fluid on lungs. I CANT sleep though exhausted. I can’t stand for more than 30nsecs. Oxygen ok. But the coughing is excruciating

I’m dizzy. Weak. Not moving much.

Neena86 · 19/01/2022 20:12

I'm back to work tomorrow after 18 days off. Tested positive 6th Jan. (I was last there nyd). My retail job involves a lot of heavy lifting and is quite physically demanding. I'm dreading it because I still don't feel "right".

Agree with this! Myself and a colleague back this week (school) having been hit fairly bad and have no energy etc. In a meeting after school, another colleague commented that 'people just don't get ill from covid now.' We felt like we were making it up!
dahliaaa · 19/01/2022 21:34

@Nocutenamesleft sorry you have been so ill - hope things get better quickly Thanks

Re the convalescing and resting. I'm not able to do that fully but I've definitely realised that I need to rest whenever possible and just scale back where possible for a while.

Is anyone taking any 'tonics' / vitamins ?

Puffalicious · 19/01/2022 21:47

@WildebeestH

My experience sounds quite similar to a lot of you. Started with symptoms on the 29th Dec, positive PCR on the 31st. I had a sore throat, lost my voice, aches, exhaustion for 4-5 days, then had a couple of days of thinking I was getting better before getting worse. Since then I’ve continued to be exhausted. I can just about do the minimum but have had to spend a day completely resting if I’ve done anything extra (and I mean even just walking to the shop and back). I’ve had IBS type symptoms in the evenings and insomnia (which is improving). I’ve been hopeful that things are slightly better today but I don’t know yet.
God, I've had insomnia and everyone is like 'What?!'. Positive Xmas morning Confused- sore back, rampant fever with chills, cough and dizzy for 14 days. I've been utterly exhausted since I've just gone back to work today and I'm totally goosed. This will take time!
Puffalicious · 19/01/2022 21:50

Oh I forgot about the nausea!

I was wondering this to... wonder if I should be taking any vitamins....

Day 9 here, physical symptoms have pretty much gone apart from a bit of a cough, but have felt quite anxious and on edge for the last couple of days, has anyone else felt this? I can’t work out if it’s covid related or not, I have had a rough few weeks as I lost my dad just before Christmas, I had just gone back to work and was trying to get back into some sense of life and then got covid so have gone back to spending alot of time by myself. Had 2 negative lateral flows now so looking forward to some fresh air today and really hoping it helps.

CoffeeWithCheese · 20/01/2022 09:02

Had it over new year - it's this week that I feel like it's finally shifted with the fatigue and the like. My body does generally react to me getting ill generally with going into ear wax/glue overload and I think it's been getting my ears cleaned out and full hearing back that's finally got me back to fully feeling normal.

Puffalicious · 20/01/2022 09:26

cheesybeans19 I had that on edge, a bit anxious definitely. I was Xmas day and just went back to work yesterday. I think if I'm off work out of routine for too long I get like this, but I've heard others with Covid say similar, so could be a combination for me. I'm not a naturally anxious person at all.

Flowers losing your dad is huge. Be kind to yourself, take your time.

maddy68 · 20/01/2022 09:52

I have an ear infection that appeared mid covid and doesn't want to go. It's so painful

dollyknocker · 20/01/2022 10:36

Almost 3 months on (so probably Delta rather than Omicron) but still struggling. Exhausted, breathless, nauseous, dizzy. I wake up every morning feeling like I have a horrendous hangover (haven't really drunk for months) nothing seems to be helping. I'm resting as much as possible, taking all the vitamins and supplements, meditating, it's really getting me down now.

Innocenta · 20/01/2022 10:57

Have you had any tests done, @dollyknocker ? Thanks

dollyknocker · 20/01/2022 11:12

Not yet but am pressing for blood test to check iron and B12 levels. Not really sure what else can be checked but if anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful 🙏
Innocenta · 20/01/2022 11:25

@dollyknocker Since you're particularly feeling so unwell in the mornings when you wake, I would consider exploring the possibility that your sleep is of a poor quality. I'm not trying to give medical advice (totally unqualified to), just throwing it out there. Do you sleep in a room by yourself or share with DH / DP / DW?
