What precautions do you still take?

Wondered whether many at this stage are still cautious (outside of official guidelines) even if not vulnerable

Does anyone still avoid certain places eg busy pubs or soft plays?
Keep windows open when visitors?

At this point everyone I know is a lot more relaxed and living life normally

@Pangolin44

None. Is anyone still?

I do see people wearing masks and wonder why.

I presume the majority of people are either fully vaccinated or anti-vax and either vaccinations work or they don't.

Sooo....

Still waiting until I can have my 4th vaccine this month. No clue if they've worked for me or not as I have a blood disorder
ufucoffee · 17/01/2022 07:34

Nothing apart from wearing masks when forced to.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 17/01/2022 07:36

just masks
washing hands before eating, after sneezing. cleaning down my desk at work,
ventilation at work

MrsLargeEmbodied · 17/01/2022 07:37

lateral flow every few days

Guacamole001 · 17/01/2022 07:38

Still not socialising much. I work at home. Happy hermit lol.

Quornflakegirl · 17/01/2022 07:41

I wear a mask and have avoided soft play but more because I hate the places than because of covid but I don’t tell my dc this!

NewModelArmyMayhem18 · 17/01/2022 07:43

Using hand sanitiser regularly when out and about. Always wear a mask when out and about. Not overdoing socialising indoors.

MyQuietPlace · 17/01/2022 07:46

None

ColettesEarrings · 17/01/2022 07:50

Mask where I legally have to, nothing else. Three out of four of us have never had covid. Ds2 got it through a school wave in early November.

AuntieMarys · 17/01/2022 07:51

Masks because I have to. And I hope they'll become a thing of the past shortly. I don't hand sanitise...never have.

Wellbythebloodyhell · 17/01/2022 07:55

I test twice a week because my work requires it and wear a mask when I have too, once they're no longer required I won't carry on doing them.

MrsMigginsCat · 17/01/2022 07:58

Masks where I have to. LFTs once or twice a week before going into the office or meeting anyone vulnerable. Still wash hands, but I always did that anyway. Other than that, nothing.

Over the last two weeks I've been to three packed indoor restaurants and several times shopped in a busy shopping centre which suggests to me that most other people are over it now too. Still haven't had COVID either.

PinkPlantCase · 17/01/2022 07:59

Masks indoors unless I’m visiting someone’s house.

LFT at least weekly and before seeing friends and family. We do ask friends if they’ve done one lately before we meet up.

We haven’t gone back to restaurants etc. but we do have a baby so that’s probably the real reason there 🤣

I’m wfh until the government changes their recommendation.

We were being extra careful before Christmas because we didn’t want to have to isolate for baby’s first Christmas. It meant so much to family to be able to all spend time together.

Now DS starts nursery and I think we’ll relax what we do quite a bit and start going more places. I’m assuming he’ll at some catch it at nursery anyway.

Thefaceofboe · 17/01/2022 08:00

I don’t take any now. My partner tested positive for covid last week and said he would isolate in the spare room but I said what’s the point, it’s so contagious I’ll probably already have it. I managed to share a bed with him for a week and test negative every day.

There’s no way I’m worried anymore about going to the shops like I was last year.

userxx · 17/01/2022 08:00

None except wearing a mask when nipping into the supermarket if I have to.

Thefaceofboe · 17/01/2022 08:00

Forgot to say, I do wear a mask when out but to follow the guidelines and respect other people are still worried Smile

PocketPenny · 17/01/2022 08:06

Wear a mask
Sanitize hands regularly
Avoid busy places (introverted so I'm happy to do this)
Swapped indoor playgroup for forest school which seems more enriching anyway
Generally we've swapped a lot of indoor activities for outdoors- benefits all round
Lateral flow test at the first sign of symptoms

Having said all that, it wouldn't stop me from doing anything that I really wanted to do- theatre, days out etc

MajorCarolDanvers · 17/01/2022 08:13

Masks where legally required.

Snailhaterz2 · 17/01/2022 08:18

Facemasks wherever its the law, LFT before social gatherings/meetings, especially if they include anyone vulnerable. No hugging or social kissing. Checking in with friends whether they are comfortable to meet indoors/do stuff indoors.

ILookAtTheFloor · 17/01/2022 08:24

I take no precautions.

tigger1001 · 17/01/2022 08:25

Wear a mask as it's a legal requirement.

Was doing regular lft but since I am just out of my 10 day isolation from having covid, and am still testing positive I will have to give these a miss for a while.

We have both worked outside the home throughout the pandemic.

Nutella22 · 17/01/2022 08:25

Avoiding all indoor places at the moment unless I really have to e.g. post office. Basically I only go out for a walk.

I'm not personally vulnerable but I'm living with my parents in their 70s so am being careful for them while rates are so high. To be honest, I don't think my mum will ever go back to normal. She used to love theatre, museums etc.. but hasn't done anything like that since early 2020 and is waiting for cases to be really low - I don't have the heart to tell her that it won't ever happen. She's happy enough walking in our local park and seems to find joy in the things I barely notice - trees, plants etc...so fair enough.

Hortensia16 · 17/01/2022 08:28

Masks where legally required. Nothing else.

AutumnAlmanack · 17/01/2022 08:35

Everything I can to avoid this thing!

  • Wear a mask at all times unless outdoors
  • Wear fresh gloves for each trip to a shop (although mostly having deliveries)
  • Sanitize every time I get back in the car
  • Wash hands as soon as I get home
  • Avoiding pubs, restaurants, and anywhere where large numbers congregrate
  • Generally avoiding people
BobBobbity · 17/01/2022 08:37

Sooo....

This is like saying “why bother with speed limits, either seatbelts work or they don’t”.

Vaccines help a great deal but they’re not 100% effective. Masks help too. Together it’s more effective than either on their own. This isn’t hard.
