What precautions do you still take?

Wondered whether many at this stage are still cautious (outside of official guidelines) even if not vulnerable

Does anyone still avoid certain places eg busy pubs or soft plays?
Keep windows open when visitors?

At this point everyone I know is a lot more relaxed and living life normally

I’m still disappointed shaking hands has remained a thing and curtseying and bowing didn’t become fashionable as a result of COVID.

AfterSchoolWorry · 17/01/2022 01:31

@NothingIsWrong

None. Masks where legally required, that's it
Same
Topseyt · 17/01/2022 03:29

None. Just the occasional mask when I really must.

TulipsGarden · 17/01/2022 04:00

While cases are so high we're avoiding places where we're indoors for a long time, like restaurants and soft play. We'll go back when cases fall in spring.

Obviously wear a mask, a good quality N95. I never stopped over the summer.

Lateral flows on adults before seeing friends indoors.

Lateral flows on everyone (inc 3 year old) before seeing my parents, as they're vulnerable. They haven't seen us indoors since March 2020.

Still wfh, and will be most of the time now as company policy. I'm looking forward to going back in occasionally when cases fall.

I know we will get Covid eventually, but I lost non-vulnerable family in the first wave and cannot shake the anxiety, especially now we know there's a generic link to people who get seriously ill.

TulipsGarden · 17/01/2022 04:01

*genetic link

User6397254 · 17/01/2022 04:31

None apart from the mandated mask wearing

MotherNaturesSon · 17/01/2022 04:32

None. It's a cold and life is for living.

Blueysmom · 17/01/2022 04:47

When you have someone who is cev to any virus let alone a novel one it's really disheartening to see so many people say none.
No it's not your job to look after my family, but common courtesy like mask wearing isn't alot to ask for to keep others safe.

OvertheRainbow2U · 17/01/2022 05:39

I live in a large block of apartments housing around 200 people. There are 4 points where I have to touch doors/lift buttons. Started wrapping the arm of coat/top/scarf/bag around my hand to protect myself from possible covid contact in March 2020. Still do it now - second nature. Not just for covid, for all germs. Also masks where required and hand sanitiser after shopping.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 17/01/2022 06:00

None apart from what I'm legally required to do. So I wear a mask in the shops. I don't LFT any more.

Oblomov22 · 17/01/2022 06:18

None

whymewhyme · 17/01/2022 06:23

None, dont even wear a mask

chocolateorangeinhaler · 17/01/2022 06:27

None at all.

Pangolin44 · 17/01/2022 06:38

None. Is anyone still?

I do see people wearing masks and wonder why.

I presume the majority of people are either fully vaccinated or anti-vax and either vaccinations work or they don't.

Sooo....

purplesequins · 17/01/2022 06:41

masks indoors or when arms length distance is not possible.

where I am restaurants are not open, but I wouldn't go if I couldn't sit outside anyway.

TeamBlondie · 17/01/2022 06:46

I wear masks where required.

I was my hands and carry anti bac gel.

I still clean my shopping because once I started I couldn’t stop.

I avoid public places most of the time but it doesn’t stop me going somewhere iykwim. Like me, my husband and children won’t go for lunch somewhere on a Saturday alone, but I’ll happily meet a friend for costa / breakfast / lunch.

Regular lft’s.

Wrongkindofovercoat · 17/01/2022 06:53

Twice weekly LFT's as per work mandate. Wear appropriate PPE in work settings. Had all vaccines offered.

Wear masks when shopping.

CirreltheSquirrel · 17/01/2022 07:03

Masks and working from home.

We haven't been abroad as often and haven't booked the holidays for this year which we were starting to plan back in November because we wanted to see how things played out but I'm comfortable with the risk of travelling, it's more about working out how much paperwork and stress it will involve.

There are a couple of other changes since pre-covid - I now get grocery deliveries and I work in a different job where I'm no longer in the city centre so using public transport/going to busy shops midweek but although both reduce my risk and were to some extent triggered by COVID, I'm keeping them because they make sense for other reasons.

Pootle40 · 17/01/2022 07:10

None and the mask has been ditched

Fetchthevet · 17/01/2022 07:13

Masks in shops. Still have to do 2 LFTs every week for work.

Whattochoosenow · 17/01/2022 07:18

Masks where required and that’s about it.

nether · 17/01/2022 07:20

Critically vulnerable person in the household.

Life is narrower again because cases are high, and some people don't seem to be keeping to even the light requirements at present. So no we don't have anyone round to ours, and don't go out to indoors places except when essential (some trips to shops, post office etc). Everything has to be risk assessed. Fortunately the DC have lovely friends who understand and who made sure they keep including them.

And it's always good to read posts from people who are sticking with it, because that helps us to keep, anging on

LAlady · 17/01/2022 07:24

Not stopping me do anything. Currently testing everyday as a close contact of someone in school. I test twice a week, ordinarily. Wearing a mask in work and in shops. Not a lot to ask in the scheme of things when cases are high.

User6397254 · 17/01/2022 07:24

Washing hands shouldn't just be a covid thing, people should be doing this anyway.

ufucoffee · 17/01/2022 07:33

@caringcarer

Wear a mask when leave the house. Sit away from others in public place. Hand gunk on 3 or 4 times a day. Hand washing every 2 hours even if I don't go out. Every day I spray door handles, light switches and toilet flushes throughout house with anti viral spray and wipe over. I get cleaner to do it by too on days she cleans house. I also get DS and DFS to wash hands the moment they gets home from school/work and Change their clothing too. It has paid off as neither me or DH, DS or DFS has had Covid. We each test twice a week and do temp gun daily. DH CEV and WFH.
Neither me nor OH who have worked throughout Covid at our places of work, been on a few foreign holidays, have mixed with people who have Covid, have a very active social life in pubs and restaurants, only wear masks when forced to and take no other precautions have had Covid either.
